Antifungal Or Antibacterial Patents (Class 424/404)
  • Patent number: 9549949
Abstract: An antiviral agent that contains as an active ingredient a particle of at least one kind of iodide composed of iodine and an element shown in Period 4 to Period 6 and Group 8 to Group 15 of a periodic table or at least one kind of monovalent copper compound. The antiviral agent can be incorporated into a variety of products. The antiviral agent can inactivate a wide range of viruses. The antiviral agent can be designed at a higher degree of freedom in terms of its constituents as compared to conventional antiviral agents. In addition, the antiviral agent can readily exhibit and maintain its antiviral activity because it does not require any pretreatments or special washing processes.

  • Patent number: 9505027
Abstract: A two-step immobilisation of silver nanoparticles on solid substrates using polyethylenimine as an adhesive and a reduction linker, where the primary coating of solid substrates by polyethylenimine occurs followed by production of silver nanoparticles covalently anchored on the polymer surface due to a reduction effect of the polyethylenimine functional groups and therefore, no nanoparticles are released to environment. The method permits working under aqueous conditions, does not use any reducing agents, stabilisers or toxic solvents and can universally be applied for anti-microbial treatments of all types of solid substrates.

  • Patent number: 9491933
Abstract: The invention can produce an infected nail of an animal and an infected animal model in which the nail plate and nail bed of the nail are sufficiently infected with a superficial fungus which were difficult to be produced in the past, and provides an evaluation method useful for development of a therapeutic agent for intractable infectious diseases such as tinea unguium using the nail and the infected animal model. For producing the infected nail of an animal and the infected animal model infected with a superficial fungus, an immunosuppressive component is administered to an animal in advance to decrease immunocompetence, and then, a superficial fungus is inoculated into the animal, whereby the infected nail of an animal and the infected animal model reflecting clinical manifestation in which the nail plate and nail bed of the nail are sufficiently infected with the superficial fungus can be produced with good reproducibility in a short period of time.

The affinity of the bacteriostatic agent for the bacteria allows the wipe to capture bacteria, thereby removing them from a surface and also inhibiting their spread to other surfaces that may contact the wipe. Of particular advantage, the bacteriostatic agent may help protect against the spread or infection of pathogens without the use of chemicals, such as antiseptics or antibiotics. Still further, the wipe of the present invention also contains a solvatochromatic indicator that undergoes a color change in the presence of a broad spectrum of bacteria. Thus, when the wipe captures bacteria, the indicator undergoes a color change that signals to the user that the wipe is functioning properly. The lack of a color change may likewise provide the user with the assurance that the area is generally free of bacteria and clean.

Abstract: A self-decontaminating fabric is manufactured from fibers such as Tencel having high surface energy and low surface roughness. Novel scouring methods eliminate substantially all contaminants from the fibers, and a novel coating process applies an anti-pathogen coating such as a halogen compound to the fabric so as to provide rapid deactivation of pathogens on contact. Novel charging methods activate or reactivate the coating, typically by exposure to chlorine. The coating is substantially free of gap regions where pathogens can survive. The high surface energy of the fibers allows a high coating concentration and provides close contact between attached pathogens and the coating. The low surface roughness reduces the pickup of pathogens by the fibers. Multi-layer embodiments include an outer layer configured for maximum anti-pathogen coating concentration, and an inner layer configured for a reduced coating concentration that is compatible with skin contact.
