Abstract: A system and method for providing context information along with a voice call is disclosed. In some examples, a calling device receives context information from a user and transmits the context information when establishing a voice call with the user. The context information may include various types of media, such as pictures or videos taken by a calling device. In some examples, a destination mobile device receives a voice call that does have context information and sends a request to a calling mobile device for information related to the voice call.

When a stock price information server acquires updated stock price information from a securities market network, a message that instructs that a predetermined application be started up and to which a term of validity has been attached is sent to a user terminal over a paging channel via an SMS server. The wireless communications device also includes a memory operatively connected to a processor for processing current location data received over the data channel from another communications device with which the wireless communications device is simultaneously communicating on the voice channel. Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a caller identification system and method for identifying a caller with a partial phone number look-up table. The caller identification system comprises a database that stores received calls and can be personalized to include information specific to partial phone numbers. In one embodiment, the caller identification system disclosed can be integrated into a cellular phone. In this embodiment, an incoming call initiates a search in a database to retrieve information about the caller. If a match is found, the identity of the caller is displayed. When an exact match is not found, a search for a partial match is executed with wild card values and information about the partial match is displayed. Information for a partial match can be personalized or pre-programmed into the caller ID system such as the city associated with a particular area code or prefix.

Based on the specific details of a particular context, an associated layout definition can be determined. The layout definition specifies the information and analysis to retrieve from the business system and the manner in which to display the information in a graphical user interface if a mobile computing device.

Abstract: In a method for displaying an incoming call of a mobile device, one or more application software of the mobile device are set for providing information of a caller of the incoming call. A name of the caller is retrieved from an address book of the mobile device according to a calling number of the incoming call. Information related to the name of the caller is retrieved from each of the application software. The retrieved information is displayed on a display screen of the mobile device.

Abstract: A reputation system aids in the prevention of unwanted spam or malicious communications from being sent to a mobile device, such as a cell phone. A collaborative process is used to determine ratings for a collection of source identifications of the communications. The source identifications are caller identifications (IDs) of a corresponding voice or SMS communication. A collection of opinions is maintained regarding the caller IDs. The reputation system then uses a method of making automatic predictions about the caller IDs by collecting caller ID information from many users to populate the database of maintained opinions. As such, caller IDs of users who have sent spam or malicious messages can be blocked by using collaborative information from many users, as opposed to relying on individual users to block unwanted communications.

Abstract: An Internet protocol (IP) telephony system provides telephony services to a mobile telephony device via data packet communications that traverse a data network. If the IP telephony system has received calls that were missed by the user of the mobile telephony device, or if the IP telephony system has received communications that have not yet been reviewed by the user of the mobile telephony device, information about those missed calls and unreviewed messages is delivered to the mobile telephony device so that the user can be alerted to their existence. Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide a method and system of registering a phone device on a synthetic communication network. One implementation receives a request to connect the phone device to a synthetic communication network that transmits messages over a data network using one or more phone numbers from a voice network. Aspects of the present invention initially obtain a phone number and a corresponding country code presumed associated with the phone device to be used for communications over the synthetic communication network. Based on the country code, the phone number is normalized to a standard format that distinguishes the resulting normalized phone number from international phone numbers using the synthetic communication network. Before the phone device is registered, aspects of the present invention verify an association between the normalized phone number and the phone device by sending a verification message addressed to the phone device that loops back and returns to the phone device.

The process is executed on a server computer coupled to a plurality of mobile communication devices over a wireless network. Each mobile device is a location-aware mobile communication device. The process determines the geographic location of a mobile communication device operated by a user within an area, displays a map representation of the area around the mobile communication device on a graphical user interface of the mobile communication device, and superimposes on the map the respective locations of one or more other trusted users of mobile communication devices coupled to the mobile communication device over the network. A security component allows users to establish trusted relationships by requiring mutual consent and disclosure of identifier and phone number information for each trusted user. Location information can be blocked among trusted users or obfuscated on the display of the mobile devices of the other users.

Abstract: Variable subscriber identifiers (V-SubIds) for protecting subscriber privacy are generated and managed. In one aspect, an Anonymous Customer Reference Services (ACRS) component generates a V-SubId, which is a short-lived subscriber identifier that is inserted in a request received from a user equipment during request enrichment. Moreover, a different V-SubId can be inserted in subsequent request from the user equipment and thus, cross-site behavior tracking can be mitigated. In one aspect, the V-SubId can be exchanged for a subscriber identifier (SubId) associated with the user equipment, upon query by trusted systems/applications. Further, the V-SubId can be exchanged for a site-specific Anonymous Customer Reference (ACR) upon query by untrusted systems/applications, if user authorization is received. Moreover, the life cycle of the ACR is managed by the ACRS component, based on subscriber input.

A user selects the preferred contact group from among an array of the user's contacts. Once the contact group is configured, a minimal number of navigation/selection features is necessary to activate any number of communication modes available to the contacts. The contact group is configured such that simple and quick navigation between the contact members is achieved. The contact group can be presented in 2D and 3D arrangements, in any number of list or geometric configurations. A pricing plan can optionally be tied to each member of the contact group.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for presenting information is provided. In an embodiment, an electronic device with wireless telephony features is provided. The display of the device is divided into at least two regions. The first region is reserved for presenting status information about the device, including such information as battery life, signal strength, time and date, carrier information, and the like. The second region is reserved for use by applications, such as at least a main menu application and an incoming telephone call application. When an incoming call arrives, the main menu application presented on the second region is replaced with the incoming call information, but the status information remains unchanged. As the status of the incoming call changes from unanswered to answered, only a portion of the second region is updated, as a remaining portion of the second region remains the same and indicates that an incoming call is being processed.
