Abstract: Systems and methods for scheduling wireless communications of a base station with multiple user mobile stations involve grouping the user mobile stations in clusters based on a predetermined criterion, such as a QoS profile of a user mobile station. Each cluster is assigned with a cluster weight factor that defines a priority level of the cluster. For each user mobile station in each cluster, a priority index may be determined based on the cluster weight factor of a respective cluster, and throughput and fairness factors respectively selected to maximize throughput and provide fairness to user mobile stations. The user mobile stations may be served in an order based on their priority indexes.

Abstract: Techniques are provided to improve the performance of wireless devices that serve wireless client devices in a wireless network in the presence of narrowband interference. The wireless device that serves wireless client devices in the wireless network receives energy in a plurality of channels of a frequency band. The received energy is analyzed for occurrence and type of interference in each channel. A quality metric is generated for each channel incorporating the occurrence and type of interference detected in the channel. For each channel, a bias value against selection of the channel is assigned based on whether narrowband interference is present in the channel. The bias value for each channel is applied to the quality metric for the channel to produce an adjusted quality metric for each channel. A channel is selected based on the adjusted quality metric for each of the plurality of channels.

Abstract: A system and method providing low-power operation in a multimode communication device. Various aspects of the present invention may, for example, include at least one radio module that is adapted to communicate in a plurality of communication modes. The at least one radio module may also be adapted to operate in at least a first power-save mode. At least one module may, for example, be adapted to analyze at least one non-informational aspect of a signal (e.g., a received radio signal) to determine whether a first communication network corresponding to a first communication mode of the plurality of communication modes might be available. The at least one module may then, for example, be adapted to determine, based at least in part on the determined availability of the first communication network, whether to operate the at least one radio module in a respective mode other than the first power-save mode.

Abstract: A method and device for determining an antenna cooperation set, and a method and device for determining a base station cooperation set in the mobile communication field are provided. The method includes that a signal joint processing system obtains the channel quality between a mobile terminal and at least two base stations, determines the base stations, which are corresponding to the channel quality higher than the channel quality threshold, as the cooperation base station set of the mobile terminal. Because the channel quality between the mobile terminal and the antenna of each base station is used to determine the cooperation antenna set dynamically, therefore, the determined cooperation antenna set includes the antennae that have very strong interference to the mobile terminal, or the antennae that have been strongly interfered by the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 8351371
Abstract: A method and apparatus for minimizing redundant enhanced uplink (EU) allocation requests and fault-isolating EU transmission failures that occur between a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a Node-B. The WTRU transmits an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) allocation request to the Node-B over an uplink (UL) EU channel. In one embodiment, if E-DCH allocation cannot be provided within a predetermined time period, the Node-B sends an acknowledgement message to the WTRU via a downlink (DL) EU signaling channel without sending E-DCH allocation information. The request is queued in the Node-B and the WTRU refrains from transmitting the same request until after the time period expires or resources become available. In another embodiment, appropriate actions are taken to correct EU transmission failures by determining whether an E-DCH allocation request was unsuccessfully delivered via the UL EU channel or whether channel allocation information was unsuccessfully delivered via the DL EU signaling channel.
