Abstract: A window vent stop for use in a sash window assembly or a door assembly. The vent stop has a housing to be disposed in a recess in the non-movable sash member. This housing includes a cavity with a bottom plate. The tumbler has at least one pivot for pivotally securing the tumbler to the housing for movement between a fully extended position, a halfway extended position. Also within the housing is a spring for biasing the tumbler. The spring maintains the tumbler in a fully retracted position when the sash is in contact with the tumbler, but automatically resets the tumbler to a full extended position when the sash is removed from the tumbler.

  • Patent number: 7827734
Abstract: A window assembly includes a main outer support frame supporting at least one movable rectangular sash frame enclosing an insulated glass panel. The sash frame is supported for vertical or horizontal movement between open and closed positions, and an interlocking system is effective to lock adjacent overlapping sash frame members. The interlocking system includes an angular metal clip member mounted on one sash frame member and having a flange projecting into a slot within the adjacent sash frame member. A pair of clip members are located under the tilt latches on single and double hung window assemblies and are secured to a vertical sash frame member on a horizontal sliding window assembly. The interlocking system responds to a substantial positive or negative wind load or such a wind load after an impact which breaks a glass panel, to limit deflection and prevent permanent deformation or release of the movable sash frame.

Abstract: A sliding window having a pair of sashes with a latch mechanism on the meeting rail of one of the sashes for latching the sashes together. To open the window, the latch mechanism is disengaged by grasping a finger grip on a latch handle to retract a latch bolt. As one or more of the sashes is slid to open the window and the latch mechanism clears the meeting rail of the other sash, a trigger cam rotates so that a portion extends outward from the latch mechanism and another portion releases a spring tab to engage and hold the latch bolt in the retracted position. When the window is closed, the outwardly extending portion of the trigger cam contacts the meeting rail of the other sash, causing the trigger cam to rotate in the opposite direction and releasing the latch bolt.

Abstract: A sliding window system can be equipped with a latch or lock mechanism. The lock mechanism can include a lock base mounted on a sliding sash of a window assembly opposite a keeper. The latch bolt of lock mechanism can be received in the keeper to latch the sashes together. A trigger is operably coupled with the latch bolt. To open the window, the lock mechanism is disengaged from the keeper by grasping a pull handle and pulling outwardly away from the window. As a result, the bolt moves to a retracted position within the lock base and a portion of the trigger extends out of the lock base, with the window capable of movement into an open position. When closing the window, the trigger contacts the keeper, releasing the bolt under the bias of a spring into the keeper, thus locking the window.
