Abstract: Commercial thermoplastic clean flame retardant materials in wire and cable insulation are mechanically unstable due to high filler loading. In the present invention, thermoplastic, black color, clean flame retardant composition using carbon nano tubes (CNT) is made. The resultant compositions possess very low smoke and toxicity. CNT with outer diameter of 40-60 nm and length of under 20 ?m are used to increase mechanical properties and flame retardancy. Thermo plastically extruded composition consists of each component by parts by weight as follows: 100 of resin (polyolefin or 100 of polyolefin/ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM)), 90-150 of non-halogen containing flame retardants, 1-20 of auxiliary secondary flame retardant agents, 2-4 of CNT (outer diameter of 40-60 nm) and length under 20 ?m and 0.2-1.0 of antioxidants. A reliable method for producing thermoplastic black color clean flame retardant insulation material for wire and cable without deterioration of mechanical properties is discussed.

  • Patent number: 8420174
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for coating metallic surfaces, comprising a binder component; a corrosion inhibitor polymer based on an ethylenically monocarboxylic and dicarboxylic acid and, if appropriate, further ethylenical monomers, a solvent component, and, if appropriate, crosslinkable components, and also pigment/filler components. The invention further relates to processes for its preparation and also to methods of coating a metallic surface using the composition, to coated metallic surfaces thus obtained, and to the use of the composition as a primer, particularly in coil coating or in atmospheric corrosion control. After drying, the applied layer preferably has a thickness of at least 3.1 ?m and is therefore thicker than a typical pretreatment layer.

  • Patent number: 8410201
Abstract: The present invention refers a procedure for preparation of a reflective and oxide inhibiting coating consists of adding hard water, a series of compounds such as titanium dioxide, calcium hydroxide at 95%, an acrylic polymer, hydroxy methyl cellulose, sodium hexametaphosphate at 10% y monoethylen glycol, maintaining specific conditions of pH and viscosity during process. The resulting coating of this process, presents highly adhesive actions, as well as a high level of reflection to solar rays, which place it as a oxide inhibitor, that no require previous sealed when it is applied to steel and/or galvanize surfaces.
