Having Means For Preventing Reuse Of Device Patents (Class 604/110)
  • Patent number: 11957870
Abstract: The subject invention provides a drug delivery device for injecting medicament which includes a tubular reservoir; a stopper slidably disposed in the reservoir; a spring for moving the stopper in the reservoir; at least one needle, the needle having a distal end for insertion into a patient, and a lumen extending proximally from the distal end, the lumen being in direct or indirect communication with the reservoir; a needle driver for displacing the needle; and an actuator. Activation of the actuator causes the spring to move the stopper and the needle driver to displace the needle. The needle moves relative to, and separately from, the reservoir with the needle being displaced. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a drug delivery device is provided wherein a needle is moved, relative to the reservoir, in being displaced for injection. This permits control of the needle displacement separate from the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 11937733
Abstract: A hollow cylinder (102) contains hot water for making a hot beverage, for example, coffee. The cylinder (102) has an inner wall (102a) extending along an axis (104) from an open upper end (102b) to an open lower end (102c) of the cylinder. A perforated closure (106) is releasably securable to the cylinder (102) to hold the coffee at the lower end (102c). A cap (110) carries a plunger (112) configured and arranged for sealing engagement with the inner wall (102a) of the cylinder (102). In use, the cap (110) is rotatable on the cylinder (102) about the axis (104) and is connected to the cylinder (102) by a helical formation. Rotation of the cap (110) on the cylinder (102) drives the plunger (112) towards the lower end (102c) of the cylinder (102) to press the hot water through the perforated closure (106) and the coffee held thereon and then into the vessel (118).

Abstract: Improved apparatus for use with medication in fluid form, which is particularly beneficial for medications having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed syringe adapter has an opening that is relatively large, as compared to a conventional needle, and thus affixing the disclosed syringe adapter to a syringe improves syringeability of higher-viscosity medications. Some embodiments feature a lateral extension that prevents inserting the syringe adapter too far into a medicine bottle, and some embodiments feature a component that assists in firmly grasping. When the disclosed syringe adapter is affixed to a pistol-grip or tab-handled syringe, the medication withdrawn into the pistol-grip syringe can be more easily administered from the syringe barrel. In some embodiments, the syringe adapter will be replaced with a needle prior to injecting the medication, while in some other embodiments, the needle is affixed to the in-place syringe adapter for the injection.

Abstract: An assembly for performing an electrosurgical procedure. A cannula includes a cannula hub defining a middle bore having a smaller diameter than a proximal bore. An electrode includes an electrode head having an outer diameter smaller than the proximal bore and greater than the middle bore. A syringe includes a syringe head having a length sufficient to extend past the proximal bore, and an outer diameter sized to engage the middle bore to form an annular seal at an interface between the syringe and the cannula. A step may define a transition surface between the proximal bore and the middle bore, and at least one notch may be within the step to maintain fluid communication between the middle bore and the proximal bore when the electrode head is engaging the step. The cannula head may include first and second locking features configured to engage the syringe and electrode, respectively.

Abstract: A retractable needle catheter insertion device is provided with a cannula and a needle positioned within the cannula to assist with insertion of the cannula. After insertion of the cannula into a patient, the needle can retract into a protective sleeve that contains the needle in order to reduce the chance that a medical practitioner will be inadvertently stuck by a used needle. The needle is carried by a needle support that is slidably disposed within the sleeve. A spring biases the needle support and needle toward a retracted position, and the device also includes an activation hub that works in conjunction with the needle support to control retraction of the needle. The retraction may be activated manually by the medical practitioner or may be activated automatically. A modular system and method of manufacturing is also provided in which catheters having either manually or automatic retraction can be manufactured using common parts.
