  • Patent number: 10987167
Abstract: In some embodiments, without limitation, the invention comprises a catheter having an elongated housing with a channel disposed therein. A laser delivery member is movable and at least partially disposed within the channel. A ramp is disposed within the housing at an angle to its central axis and proximate to its distal end. The ramp is adapted to move the distal end of the laser delivery member outwardly from the central axis of the housing. A guidewire biases the distal end of the laser delivery member generally inwardly toward the central axis of the housing. In some embodiments, without limitation, the offset of the central axis of the tip of the laser delivery member from the central axis of the housing is determined by adjusting the extent to which the laser delivery member travels on the ramp, and disposition of the laser delivery member on the guidewire maintains the offset tip substantially parallel to the central axis of the housing.

  • Patent number: 10744297
Abstract: A retractable needle catheter insertion device is provided with a cannula and a needle positioned within the cannula to assist with insertion of the cannula. After insertion of the cannula into a patient, the needle can retract into a protective sleeve that contains the needle in order to reduce the chance that a medical practitioner will be inadvertently stuck by a used needle. The needle is carried by a needle support that is slidably disposed within the sleeve. A spring biases the needle support and needle toward a retracted position, and the device also includes an activation hub that works in conjunction with the needle support to control retraction of the needle. The retraction may be activated manually by the medical practitioner or may be activated automatically. A modular system and method of manufacturing is also provided in which catheters having either manually or automatic retraction can be manufactured using common parts.

  • Patent number: 10729857
Abstract: A fluid injecting system (100) comprising an injector (A) having an injector body (10), a plunger shaft (30), a plunger assembly (20) having an inner plunger barrel (21) slidable within an outer plunger barrel (22), a fluid-cartridge (B) having a fluid (53) and a hypodermic needle (72) for injecting the fluid (53) at an injectable site. The fluid-cartridge (B) is configured to releasably engage with the injector (A). A vacuum (V) is created between the outer plunger barrel (22) and the inner plunger barrel (21) upon formation of a united plunger barrel (40). Also, forward movement of the united plunger barrel (40) transfers the fluid (53) from the fluid-cartridge (B) into the injectable site. The hypodermic needle (72) retracts within empty fluid-cartridge (B) due to release of the vacuum (V) and the injector (A) is disengaged from the fluid-cartridge (B) for reuse. Further, a fluid injecting method (300) is provided.

  • Patent number: 10722653
Abstract: A novel single use auto-injector for delivering a fixed amount of medicament is described. The auto-injector may include a sealed housing rotatably held in a cover. Once the auto-injector is positioned at the injection location, the user can transition the housing from a locked to an armed position. The user can then compress the sealed housing into the cover, triggering activation mechanisms that initiate the injection. A first activation mechanism engages an interlock to prevent reuse of the auto-injector. A second activation mechanism straightens and extends a curved needle to a set the exposed needle length. A third activation mechanism pierces a sealed reservoir allowing the medicament to be forced through the injection needle. Following the injection, the auto-injector expands and interlocks, retracting the needle into the auto-injector and preventing reuse.

  • Patent number: 10716899
Abstract: An auto injector having sequential control of needle insertion and dose injection is disclosed. A syringe with a needle is movably positioned in a housing between a first position in which the needle is accommodated inside the housing and a second position in which the needle protrudes outside the housing. A plunger rod tube has at least one locking member configured to normally lock a plunger rod to the plunger rod tube. A syringe driver applies a force to the syringe to move the syringe together with plunger rod tube, plunger rod and plunger rod driver from the first position to the second position. In the second position, the locking member is unlocked and releases the plunger rod to thereby activate the plunger rod driver to advance the plunger rod in the syringe for delivering of at least one dose of medicament.

Abstract: A plunger locking assembly is provided for a syringe which has a barrel and a plunger. The barrel has a closed end with a cannula connector, an open end bounded by a peripheral lip and a barrel longitudinal axis extending between the closed end and the open end. The plunger has a plunger inner end, a plunger outer end and a plunger longitudinal axis extending between the plunger inner end and the plunger outer end. The plunger is slidably displacable within the barrel to different longitudinal lock positions and the barrel and plunger longitudinal axes are coextensive with one another. The plunger locking assembly includes a main body and a plunger locking mechanism. The main body has an inner end, an outer end and a main body longitudinal axis and is adapted to engage the plunger. The plunger locking mechanism is positioned on the main body and is adapted to lock the plunger at a fixed longitudinal lock position within the barrel to prevent further slidable displacement of the plunger into the barrel.
