  • Patent number: 9352093
Abstract: A safety syringe with a plunger in which a needle is attached to a mobile component that is mechanically not linked to the plunger but is slidable within the barrel of the syringe and has a valve mechanism for opening a port connecting the interior volume between the mobile component and the plunger to the needle bore. The mobile component is first pushed by the plunger to the bottom of the barrel so that the needle extends normally, the mobile component is mechanically locked in place for use conventionally, and the needle bore is opened. After use, the needle bore may be closed, the lock released, and the mobile component and attached needle sucked back into the barrel by pulling the plunger out, retracting the used needle into the barrel. There may be a plunger lock. There may be an upper barrel locking position for the mobile component.

Abstract: A retractable syringe is proposed having a cutting head mounted on a plunger of the syringe. When the plunger is advanced to expel fluid from the syringe, the cutting crown cuts a retention mechanism which holds a needle unit of the syringe, allowing a drive mechanism to drive the needle unit into the syringe. The cutting crown is shaped to reduce the force which has to be applied to cut the retention mechanism. Furthermore, a disposable needle assembly for attachment to a syringe unit is proposed. The disposable needle assembly has a needle and connector element for connecting the needle to the syringe unit. • Patent number: 9308331
Abstract: A syringe including a barrel and a plunger slidably disposed within the barrel is disclosed. A distal end of the barrel defines a roof, and an elongate tip, in fluid communication with the barrel, extends from the roof. A protrusion forming a ridge may be disposed on one of the roof of the barrel and the plunger head. When the plunger head contacts the roof, the protrusion forms a channel between the plunger head and the roof. The channel isolates fluid within the channel from the elongate tip, which in turn reduces the spray of fluid through the distal end of the syringe. In another embodiment to reduce the spray of fluid through the distal end of the syringe, an impulse reduction system may be used to reduce or prevent the proximal portion from applying a distally directed impulse to the distal portion after the breakable connection is broken.

  • Patent number: 9072844
Abstract: An I.V. flush syringe assembly includes a barrel having an inside surface defining a chamber for retaining fluid, an open proximal end and a distal end with a passageway therethrough in fluid communication with the chamber. An elongate plunger having a proximal end, a distal end and a flexible stopper is slidably positioned in fluid-tight engagement with the inside surface of the barrel for drawing fluid into and out of the chamber by movement of the stopper relative to the barrel. The barrel includes anti-reflux structure for holding said stopper in a partially deflected position after has been delivered from the chamber and the stopper is being force against the distal end of the chamber.

Abstract: The invention relates to devices used in the fields of drag delivery or sampling. More particularly, it relates to a disposable assembly which is fitted to an actuator device which causes the skin piercing element to enter the skin to deliver a drug (or other substance) or take a sample. Preferably the assembly is “made safe” after actuation, such that the disposable assembly can't be reused and more preferably still the skin piercing element is safely housed in the assembly such that it does not constitute a “sharps” risk.

  • Patent number: 9050423
Abstract: The invention is a single use syringe having an integrated mechanism to prevent its reuse, by manual intentional destruction after use, by an easy move. This prevents the reuse of syringes which may result in disease transmission if it is contaminated. It prevents auto destruction at an unwanted period so that it can be used for multiple purposes like blood aspiration and injection for a single patient and then dispose it as the medical staff stop attending that individual, thus saving valuable resources and generating less plastic waste. The manufacturing process is simple and brings not much added cost or special training for operation. The step for destruction is simple and quick without the aid of any special equipment, additional staff or electricity.

Abstract: The present invention provides a disposable syringe and a push rod for use in a disposable syringe. The push rod comprises a proximal end, a distal end and an axis extending through the proximal end and the distal end. The distal end of the push rod is provided with a snap-fitting mechanism and a stop flange located at a proximal side of the snap-fitting mechanism. The stop flange comprises a main body portion formed about an axis of the push rod and a plurality of finger-like portions extending from the main body portion in a direction away from the axis of the push rod. According to the present invention, a smaller push force continues to be applied to the push rod upon completion of the injection, thereby achieving an additional stroke needed when the distal end of the push rod snap-fits with the needle seat and meanwhile lessening the patient's pains.

Abstract: The present invention disclosed a retractable self-destroying safety syringe with replaceable needle including a barrel body, a needle base body (3) disposed in a barrel neck (2) at an end of the barrel body (1), an elastic buffering engaging mechanism formed between the barrel neck (2) and the needle base body (3). An asymmetrical elastic retracting locking member having an elastic function is disposed at an end of a plunger, with which an internal sleeved retracting locking member of the needle base body can be interlocked by the elastic function. After being retracted into the barrel body (1), the needle base body is deflected to one side under an asymmetric force, and the needle therefore inclines in a direction nearly a 45 degree angle to one side of the inner wall of the barrel body (1) and is blocked by the barrel neck of the barrel body, so that the needle and the needle base could not be pushed out of the barrel neck again and self-destruction of the syringe is truly achieved.

  • Patent number: 9022989
Abstract: An injection device has a main drive module which can be screwed into the back of a syringe housing to prepare the injector ready for use. The drive module has a firing button and a drive plunger released for forward movement by pressing the firing button. The syringe housing slideably receives a syringe holder whose forward movement is initially prevented by internally directed barbs on a cylindrical latching sleeve. The latching sleeve is acted upon by a release ring on the drive module such that as the drive module is screwed onto the syringe housing, the release ring splays the cylindrical shell to release the syringe carrier for forward movement. The barbs also act as a latch to capture the syringe carrier in its rearward position when the drive module is unscrewed from the syringe housing, which returns the barbs to their initial position before the syringe holder returns to its initial position.

Abstract: A portal access assembly includes an inserter that has a needle, a cap moveable along the length of the needle and an infuser having a cannula through which the needle extends. A safety mechanism inside the cap allows the needle to be moved relative to the cap so long as the shaft of the needle biases against an edge of one of the legs of the mechanism. After the cannula is properly positioned in the implanted port to establish a fluid path between the port and the infuser, the needle is removed by being pulled upwards until it no longer biases the one leg of the mechanism. At which time the safety mechanism fixedly captures the needle inside the cap to prevent the contaminated tip of the needle from being exposed to the environment. At the same time, the cap is detached from the infuser.
