Publication number: 20090182291Abstract: A device for applying a medicament to the eye, consisting of a single or pair of eye goggles, into which is sprayed a fine mist or fog of the medicament. The medicament is contained in a canister attached to an aperture in the goggle or goggles, and the mist is generated either by the configuration of the outlet valve, or by means of a baffle disposed within the goggle volume opposite the outlet valve. The container may be a bag-on-valve type of device, with the aerosol propellant outside of the medicament bag, such that the medicament does not come into contact with the propellant. Alternatively, the container may be a metered-dose inhalator type of container operated by manual pressure. Because of the one-way flow operation, and the separation of propellant and medicament, formulation of the medicament with a potentially harmful preservative is not necessary.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2007Publication date: July 16, 2009Inventor: Eran Eilat

Publication number: 20020107492Abstract: An eye drop dispensing device includes a trough member with a space to receive a cartridge housing enclosing a collapsible bag containing an ophthalmic liquid and comprising a spring finger applying pressure to the bag. The bag includes a wall pierced by a needle coupling the liquid to pump means through a one-way valve. The pump means includes a plunger biased to a resting position establishing a dosage chamber. Actuator means moves the plunger to enlarge the dosage chamber, causing a drop in pressure which draws a predetermined quantity of the liquid through the one-way valve into the dosage chamber. The actuator means then releases the plunger so that it moves to compress the dosage chamber to pump the liquid in the dosage chamber through a second one-way valve to spray the liquid through pinholes formed in a nozzle angled to direct the liquid as eye drops to the user's eye.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2001Publication date: August 8, 2002Inventors: John D. Patent number: 6159188Abstract: A process and apparatus (invention) permitting the distribution of micro or submicro liter or gram (exceptionally small) quantities of liquids and powders, (hereafter materials) in patterns and quantities that are especially well-suited for ophthalmologic patient self-application of drugs to his own eye(s) with substantially no overdose. The invention is thus also highly beneficial in those many topical drug applications where overdoses should be avoided. This is particularly applicable for the eye, where overdoses can have many deleterious medical consequences. Use of the invention permits exceptionally small doses of ophthalmologic drugs. Moreover, it also permits the repeatability of the quantity size of the materials chosen for delivery. In the case of drugs, particularly opthomologic drugs, this means that the invention permits the repeated multiple distribution of the same chosen drug/carrier quantity resulting in a uniform repeatable dosage.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1998Date of Patent: December 12, 2000Assignees: Robert L. Patent number: 5695124Abstract: A self-contained emergency eye wash station for dispensing eye wash fluid contained in a flexible container comprises a housing, a reservoir, and a platen. The housing supports the flexible container and supports a nozzle in fluid communication with the flexible container. The nozzle dispenses the eye wash fluid from the flexible container. The housing includes a drain capturing the eye wash fluid dispensed from the nozzle. The reservoir collects the eye wash fluid captured by the drain, and the reservoir is slidably mounted to the housing. The platen is connected to the reservoir. The platen is slidably movable relative to the housing and is located immediately above the flexible container. The platen presses downward on the flexible container with a downward force proportional to a weight of the eye wash fluid collected in the reservoir. The transfer of the weight of the eye wash fluid collected in the reservoir to the platen maintains a constant flow of eye wash fluid dispensed from the nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Assignee: Fendall CompanyInventors: Rodney L.
