Sliding Patents (Class 70/129)
  • Patent number: 4640108
Abstract: A modular lock unit including a carrier frame and a heavy base plate and framework is positioned in a steel door jamb. A lock solenoid and an unlock solenoid are connected to opposite ends of a bolt cam slide extending through a vertical slot in a horizontally reciprocal bolt so that vertical movement of the slide effects camming movement of the bolt between an extended locking position and a retracted unlocking position. The slide includes a central slot oriented at approximately 45.degree. and having vertical deadlock end portions. A lock pin in the bolt extends through the central slot of the slide and enters the deadlock portion of the bolt when in either its extended or retracted position. Camming movement of the bolt is effected by the front and rear edges of the slide engageable with front and rear follower surfaces in the slot in the bolt.

  • Patent number: 4616493
Abstract: A shrouded track slide bolt which is very difficult to breach including an anti-saw spindle inserted into the bolt where it bridges the gap between the door and the door jamb. If a saw is inserted into this gap the saw will stop cutting when it hits the anti-saw spindle which rotates freely. The mechanism consists of a fixed block and a sliding block with an attached dead bolt. If a saw is insertd into the gap between the blocks, a bolt collar will rotate making sawing impossible. At all other points the bolt is surrounded by massive case hardened steel blocks. A key system is provided so that a key is necessary to activate the bolt and the key may only be withdrawn if the bolt is fixed in either the fully extended or fully withdrawn position. A door jamb reinforcing insert is provided to strengthen the door jamb.

  • Patent number: 4524590
Abstract: The door latch with lock includes a support bracket adapted to be mounted on the interior surface of an outer screen or storm door, an elongated bolt slideably and rotatably carried in a guideway on the support bracket, and a transversely extending handle on the bolt which extends through a slot in the guideway and is somewhat longer than the spacing between the outer door and an inner door. When the handle is in a generally horizontal sliding position, the bolt slides freely between a latched position wherein the outer end is received in a keeper on the door frame and an unlatched position wherein the bolt is retracted from the keeper. The bolt and handle can be rotated downwardly to a general vertical locking position when the bolt is in either the latched or unlatched positions, but lock means and actuating means prevent the sliding of the bolt between the latched and unlatched positions unless the handle is rotated to the sliding position.

  • Patent number: 4297862
Abstract: A door lock including a mounting structure secured to a door, a bolt movable into an extended position in which it projects from an edge of the door, a lock cylinder for operating the bolt, and a holder in which the cylinder is mounted. A retaining mechanism, accessible through a release aperture on the edge of the door when the door is open, normally secures the holder to the mounting structure but permits the holder to be released to remove the cylinder. The retaining mechanism can include a latch member that is engageable with the holder under the urging of a spring to prevent the holder from being removed from the mounting structure. Mutually engagable cam surfaces carried by the holder and the latch member cause movement of the latch member to permit installation of the holder. Alternatively, the latch member can be a screw, eliminating the need for a spring to urge it toward the holder.

  • Patent number: 4290282
Abstract: A deadbolt lock mechanism of the single cylinder type is disclosed having a latch bolt which is movable between extended and retracted positions by means of a lock cylinder at one side thereof. A thumbturn, together with manually movable coupling control means for controlling the coupling between the thumbturn and latch bolt are located at the other side of the mechanism. In the bolt retracted position, the coupling control means is movable between coupling enabling and disabling positions to condition the coupling for operation of the latch bolt by the thumbturn in the enabling position thereof, and for disabling such latch bolt operation by the thumbturn in the disabling position. Consequently, the latch bolt is operable by the lock cylinder in any position of the thumbturn and coupling control means, whereas the thumbturn is enabled for operation of the latch bolt only when the coupling control means has been moved into enabling position.

  • Patent number: 4169616
Abstract: A lock located within a door has a bolt that is extended and retracted by a double acting air cylinder. A single air line extends from the door frame and into the door where it is connected with a valve having two discharge lines that lead to opposite ends of the cylinder. To energize the cylinder and move the lock bolt, a charge of pressurized air is directed to the valve which in turn directs it to one end of the cylinder. The charge of air further causes the valve to reset itself so that the next charge will be directed to the opposite end of the cylinder. Consequently, with successive charges of air the piston rod of the cylinder and the lock bolt move in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 4047408
Abstract: A single cylinder deadbolt lock with a thumbturn includes a slidable pair of gear elements normally engaging the thumbturn with the cylinder whereby either one will operate the bolt. One such gear element is provided on a hub rotatable with the locking bar shaft, while the other gear element comprises part of the thumbturn mechanism. A rotatable sleeve coaxial with the locking bar shaft is also normally disposed in meshing engagement with the aforementioned hub but is restrained from axial movement. Axial movement together with rotation of the lock cylinder, e.g., for locking the mechanism, moves the hub and the sleeve out of meshing engagement, causing the hub and thumbturn to be held out of meshing engagement for disabling the thumbturn until the cylinder is again rotated.

  • Patent number: 4014191
Abstract: The combination lock disclosed has a plurality of disc-shaped tumblers mounted side-by-side for individual relative rotation around a common axis. A cylindrical member or drum having a plurality of lugs thereon is located adjacent the outer periphery of the tumblers for movement by a dial around the axis of rotation of the tumblers and for rotation on its longitudinal axis. A ratchet rotates the drum on its longitudinal axis a portion of a revolution each time the dial is returned to a selected position. Each tumbler has a protrusion on its periphery that when engaged by a lug on the drum will cause the tumbler to be rotated with the drum as the drum is moved around the axis of rotation of the tumbler by a dial. The lugs are arranged on the drum so that in one position of the drum the dial will move all of the tumblers to a preselected relative position. An audible or visible signal indicates that the lugs are in this position.
