Abstract: The two-step locking system includes a dual locking unit comprised of a flat plate to which a recessed cover is hinged. The plate has a keeper projecting therefrom and said recessed cover has a slot through which the free end of the keeper extends so that a padlock can be attached to the keeper via a hole therein to prevent the cover from being opened. A sleeve is secured to said plate, the sleeve projecting a lesser distance from the plate than the keeper, so that the sleeve is completely concealed when the cover is closed. A penta-head bolt extends through the plate of the unit into threaded engagement with a tapped hole in a bracket. The plate of the dual locking unit is riveted to one component of a two-component enclosure, and the bracket is riveted to the other component. The tapped hole in the bracket is in registry with the bolt when the two components are mated so as to allow the bolt to be threadedly engaged with the bracket.

Abstract: A seal has a fiber optic bundle which passes through a fastening device. One end of the bundle is exposed to a light source and the light pattern emitted from the other end is observed to determine whether anyone has tampered with the bundle or the fastening device. The bundle has end fittings which are received in intersecting passageways formed in a block and which pass through each other at the intersection. A flat portion of one end fitting passes through a one-way push nut integrally formed in the other end fitting to interlock the fittings. Alternatively, one fitting is press fit in the block and the other fitting is engaged by a one-way push nut mounted in an enlarged portion of its respective passageway. The shapes of the passageways correspond to the shapes of their respective fittings to prevent rotation of the fittings and to align the fittings for intermeshing with each other. The fibers in the bundle are divided and extend through divided passageways formed in one of the end fittings.
Abstract: A locking device to be usable in conjunction with a deadlock type of locking apparatus mounted in conjunction with a door. The locking device of this invention is to be attached in a fixed manner to the handle of the deadlock locking apparatus with there being an elongated bar section that is to abut against the conventional doorknob of the door. Any unauthorized turning of the deadlock handle will be prevented since a deadlock handle is constrained due to the elongated bar portion abutting against the doorknob. The locking device of this invention includes a bracket section which is to be movable to accommodate to different positions of deadlock handles.
Abstract: A protective visor for an automobile door handle in an outer door panel is provided and consists of a hood member secured to the outer door panel over the door handle so that the hood member will act to shed rain, hail and snow and consequently protect the door handle from all inclement weather and still allow access to operate the door handle. In a modified form the hood member is adjustably extendable to house various sizes of the door handle and includes a hinged flap portion that can flip up for access to operate a keylock.
Abstract: A locking system for security door or window includes a metal frame secured onto a house around the door or window. A lock is disposed in the metal frame and has a movable locking member that is movable between a locked position in engagement with a stationary locking member in the door or window when in a closed position in the frame and an unlocked position. A manually-actuated member extends through the metal frame and a hole in the door or window frame and includes an operating member inside the house and also within a guard secured onto the inside of the door or window frame enabling the operating member to be operated through an opening in the guard that opens away from the door or window opening to manually operate the lock from inside the house and prevents anyone from gaining access to the operating member.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a security device against attacks on a lock comprising a member mounted pivotally on a lock body and one end of which retains a finger constantly acted upon by a spring, whereas the other end of the member is provided with a slot identical in shape with at least a portion of the lock inlet receiving the key.
Abstract: An improved device for preventing unauthorized opening of a combination lock of the type having a plurality of tumbler wheels in conjunction with a fence-lever-actuated bolt in which a tumbler wheel assembly shield having an opening to avoid a rearward expulsion of the dial shaft provides a barrier to unauthorized rearward or radial manipulation of the tumbler wheel assemblies by use of fishing hooks inserted and manipulated from the front of the lock.
Abstract: A shrouded track slide bolt which is very difficult to breach including an anti-saw spindle inserted into the bolt where it bridges the gap between the door and the door jamb. If a saw is inserted into this gap the saw will stop cutting when it hits the anti-saw spindle which rotates freely. The mechanism consists of a fixed block and a sliding block with an attached dead bolt. If a saw is insertd into the gap between the blocks, a bolt collar will rotate making sawing impossible. At all other points the bolt is surrounded by massive case hardened steel blocks. A key system is provided so that a key is necessary to activate the bolt and the key may only be withdrawn if the bolt is fixed in either the fully extended or fully withdrawn position. A door jamb reinforcing insert is provided to strengthen the door jamb.
Abstract: A tamper resistant reciprocal cylinder lock comprising mutually engageable structures on the lock sleeve and bolt keeper having the capacity to increase the resistance of the lock sleeve forward portion from disengagement with the lock sleeve inner portion when the lock and keeper mechanism in a locked position are under physical attack.
Abstract: A torsion spring longitudinally rotates a locking bolt when the bolt actung linkage is severed. A woodruff key or the like is upstanding from a surface of the bolt. When the linkage is undamaged, the key slides with the bolt through a slot on the lock frame. When the bolt is rotated by the spring, it is locked in the rotated position by a locking pawl. In the rotated position, the key is out of registry with the slot and the bolt cannot be withdrawn from its extended, locking position. A second embodiment replaces the key with a recess in the bolt into which a locking pawl engages to prevent movement of the locking bolt.

Abstract: Protective apparatus for a lock and a lock including such apparatus are disclosed. The protective apparatus comprises a plate-like element adapted to be added to a standard lock without requiring any mounting structure not already present in the lock. A spring causes the plate-like element to move or pivot when the connecting bar of the lock is removed to block the opening through which the lock connecting bar extends into the housing. Thereby, the plate prevents insertion of a tool such as a screwdriver into the lock. In some embodiments, the protective apparatus locks the bolt when the connecting bar is removed.
Abstract: Increased knob pull resistance in a cylinder lock is obtained by providing the knob sleeve with an inner lug which engages in a bayonet slot in the key-actuated rollback cam sleeve so as to transmit knob pull to the cam sleeve and through such sleeve and its out-turned rollback cam to the fixed hub. Preferably, the resulting increased pull resistance is combined with that provided by forming the knob sleeve with a small stud which rides in a groove in the hub to transmit pull directly from the knob sleeve to the hub.
Abstract: A locking mechanism for fuel lines in vehicles in which at least a part of the unit is constructed of aluminum to resisting flame cutting and hardened steel dowel pins are used to resist saw cutting. The locking mechanism has an internal recess which encloses a fuel line valve in a closed position. The locking mechanism is comprised of two members which are interlocked to one another by a rotatable keying element which is in one member and selectively engages with the other member upon operation of a key to lock the members to one another while the fuel line valve is in a closed position.
Abstract: A deadbolt lock protector including an outer metal enclosure, covering the lock, and attached to the door by means of non-removable screws. Inside the enclosure is a pin, formed of non-magnetic material such as brass, held alongside the thumblatch of the lock, preventing it from turning. The pin is held in that position by brackets and underneath by a support member. This support member's attachment is pivotable, and a cable is attached to it, so that from a remote position, the cable may be pulled, allowing the pin to drop out of the enclosure, in turn allowing normal use of the lock by means of a key. An extender straddles the thumblatch, so that the thumblatch can be turned from the inside of the door. The narrow portion of the extender, however, which passes through the enclosure, is relatively weaker than the pin, so that when the pin is in place, and the extender is forced, the extender will break before the pin.
Abstract: A frangible lock apparatus utilizes a pair of pan-shaped washers, each having shaft engaging tines. The shaft portion of a locking device, having the tumbler mechanism rotatably coupled to one end thereof, and the locking portion rotatably engaged the other, is provided with three pairs of notches along its length. Two pairs of such notches engage the pan-shaped washers located on opposite faces of the locking portion of the apparatus. The remaining pair of notches are disposed immediately adjacent the pan-shaped washer located closest to the tumbler end of the shaft. Upon pulling the tumblers, the shaft parts and the remaining portion thereof presents a virtually ungraspable nub and smooth shaped pan washer, accessible only through the small opening formerly used to house the tumbler mechanism.

The latch mechanism includes a pivotally mounted latch member which is urged to a latching position and held in that position by a barrel type lock which is disposed in an inaccessible position within a hardened block.
Abstract: A shield is rotatably mounted to a threaded element of the closure on an axis coincident with the axis of the threaded element, so that the shield impedes access to the threaded element. The shield can be removed from the threaded element or connected to the threaded element only upon actuation of the closure by an appropriate key. Absent such actuation, the threaded element cannot be rotated for disengagement from the conduit by rotating the shield. The closure is protected against attempts to disengage it from the conduit by bonding the shield to the threaded element with an adhesive and rotating the shield.
Abstract: A locking assembly for normally separable apertured structures which protect business fronts against burglary. The locking assembly includes a sturdy, straight pin which penetrates all apertures, and is part of a sturdy bracket which overlies a fixed standard or post. The arrangement is such as to permit a key operated locking device to lie flatly and directly upon the bracket so as to prevent removal of the bracket and its above mentioned pin. The overall arrangement is such as to guard against burglary by an unauthorized person using forceful tools, and to prevent access to the pin for the purpose of destroying or cutting it.

The carrier assembly includes two relatively movable plates having abutment formations to be engaged by each actuator, the abutment formations of one plate extending a short distance ahead of the abutment formations of the other to be first engaged by the actuator and first move the one plate, and a pivoted deadbolt latch lever resiliently biased against a stationary stop for holding the carrier assembly against movement from said locking position and movable out of engagement with said stop upon movement of the one plate by the actuator.
Abstract: An additional locking system is provided for a combination lock. The combination lock includes a housing, a locking mechanism and a bolt in the housing movable between a first position projecting out of the housing and a second position generally withdrawn in the housing. The bolt can be moved to the second position only when the locking mechanism is in an unlocked condition. The additional locking system provides an additional lock for the bolt in the first position, and a heat responsive member prevents the additional locking system from locking the bolt until the housing is heated above a predetermined temperature. The additional locking system includes a spring with an arm thereon in the housing. The bolt includes a slot and the spring is mounted such that the arm is adjacent the slot, and the spring biases the arm toward the slot. The heat responsive member is a fuse in the housing urging the spring against the biasing to hold the arm out of the slot.
Abstract: A lock mechanism that is particularly adapted for use on automobile trunks which comprises a lock cylinder, an actuating member, a latch assembly, and a spring type tension member. When substantial force is applied to the face of the lock cylinder the lock cylinder and actuating member swing away from the force and render the lock mechanism inoperative. Upon withdrawal of the force the lock cylinder and actuating member return to their original position to allow the lock mechanism to function normally. To prevent the lock cylinder from being pulled out the cylinder face is recessed within the wall of the trunk. An alternative embodiment provides for the entire lock mechanism to pivot away when a force is applied.
Abstract: The present invention relates, in a door lock in which a door knob is locked when the door is locked, to a knob for a door lock which is not disengaged from a lock device and secure even if the knob is intended to be twisted or pulled out resulting from the outside attack.
