Abstract: An array of boxes in one or more carts is closely associated with addresses in a database of a computer. This computer-box association is used to keep track of the sequence, placement and presentation of each window frame element to each workstation. This association is maintained until these frame elements are assembled into rectangular window frames. Then, individual window frames are tracked into other workstations using bar code labels. Temporary storage of frame elements between workstations constitute work banks to each workstation. In another aspect, the lengths of frame elements are adjusted to compensate for the melt factor of the specific welding head in which a joint will be made.

Abstract: Automated fixture layout is approached in two distinct stages. First, the spatial locations of clamping points on the work piece are determined to ensure immobility of the fixtured part under any infinitesimal perturbation. Second, spatial locations are matched against a user-specified library of reconfigurable clamps to synthesize a valid fixture layout or configuration that includes clamps that are accessible and collision free. The spatial locations matching during the second stage can be the same spatial locations chosen in the first stage to ensure immobility, or a different set of spatial locations.

Abstract: A system and method for error compensation in positioning a complex-shaped gas turbine engine part during manufacturing thereof with a machine. Theoretical measurements for a plurality of control points on the part are first retrieved. Actual measurements for the control points are then acquired in a coordinate system of the machine. If an error between the actual and theoretical measurements is beyond a tolerance, a transformation matrix is computed. The transformation matrix represents a transformation to be applied to the coordinate system to adjust a pose thereof for compensating the error. The transformation matrix may be computed and applied to the coordinate system iteratively until the actual measurements are brought within tolerance. A machining program may then be generated for manufacturing the part accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8768656
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for automatically generating an optimal configuration of a product, using logic implemented on a digital computer processing system. A general configuration will be broken down into a hierarchy of subdesigns by a designer of an artifact type. A particular instance of the type must satisfy user-specified external parametric constraints. Constraints may take the form of a range of values for some performance characteristic or to satisfy laws or business requirements. Hierarchical decomposition facilitates solution of complex problems. Criteria for a best solution may be specified for a given subdesign, a collection of subdesigns, or globally. Tentative selection of a particular subdesign may impose internally generated constraints upon a subsequent subdesign. If no acceptable solution is found for a subdesign, the candidate overall configuration rolls back to the most complete viable partial collection of subdesigns.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the creation of addendums (4) of tools for sheet metal formed parts (2). In the case of this method, fill surfaces (7) for the smoothing of irregular zones of a component edge (3) are generated. Initial directions (31) of sectional profiles (10) are determined in such a manner, that sectional profiles (10) at a distance from one another are arranged along a component (3, 8) with utilization of these initial directions (31) and that an addendum (4) is creatable by the connection of these sectional profiles (10).

Abstract: A request to calculate workload for a number of time buckets is received. In response to the request, one or more sets of activities with equal execution timeframe are determined. In one aspect, for the one or more sets of activities, net execution duration of activities from the one or more sets of activities is aggregated to determine workloads of the one or more sets of activities. Planned work time consumption of the determined workloads is calculated. In one aspect, calculated planned work time consumption of the workloads is distributed across the number of time buckets. Distributed planned work time consumption of the workloads is aggregated, by the time buckets to calculate the workload for the time buckets.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a computer-aided design (CAD) application configured for generating interactive truss objects in a CAD model. In one embodiment, a truss creation tool allows the user to select a truss family and the endpoints of the truss. Based on these selections, the truss creation tool generates a layout and structural members of a truss. The truss may be maintained as an interactive object within the CAD model. Thus, a user may edit the truss object, resulting in the regeneration of the truss layout and the regeneration of the structural elements of the truss.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide an embedment positioning system that facilitates the positioning of a plurality of embedments along an edge of a concrete form. In one embodiment, the present disclosure provides an embedment positioning tape formed with embedment position indicators indicating the positions at which a plurality of embedments are to be positioned along a concrete form. In operation, a user unrolls and attaches the embedment positioning tape along the concrete form such that the control line location indicator lines up with the actual control line. The user then uses the embedment positioning indicators to position the embedments at the correct positions along the edge of the concrete form without having to hand-measure those positions for each embedment. The present disclosure also provides an embedment positioning tape forming system and method.

Abstract: A system and method for hybrid vehicle system loss learning. A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, a motor-generator, a battery, a battery module configured to measure a battery power of the battery, a memory configured to store system loss data including engine speed adjustments corresponding to vehicle speeds and power requests, and a processor configured to determine a system loss for a vehicle speed and a power request, apply an engine speed adjustment based on the system loss data, and store the engine speed adjustment and a post-adjustment system loss in the system loss data when the engine speed adjustment improves the system loss. The hybrid vehicle stores data on system losses and relevant conditions such as vehicle speed and power requests. The hybrid vehicle can improve the engine speed adjustment from successive adjustments for those conditions based on the stored data.

Abstract: A bonding surface extraction unit extracts, with reference to bonding information, data of a first bonding surface corresponding to a bottom surface of a bonding model from data of a first partial model and data of a second bonding surface corresponding to a top surface of the bonding model from data of a second partial model. The first partial model is a model of a pad included in a circuit board. The second partial model is a model of an electrode included in a component. The electrode is to be bonded to the pad with a bonding material. A bonding model generation unit generates a side surface establishing a link between outlines of the first bonding surface and the second bonding surface, and obtains data of the bonding model on the basis of a shape formed with the side surface, the first bonding surface, and the second bonding surface.
