Abstract: A method and system for generating a log with location and accelerometer history and verifying the authenticity of the user based on the log. A stroke and capture module captures stroke data from a user. A location identifier module identifies the portable computing device's location. An accelerometer determines the portable computing device's acceleration. A logging module generates metadata that includes the location and accelerometer history. A verification module receives the location and the accelerometer history. The verification module determines the user's mode of transportation based on the accelerometer history. The location and the mode of transportation are compared with information from an authority. If the data matches, the verification authenticates the document.

Abstract: A distribution management system can facilitate synchronous and asynchronous communications, take advantage of electronic scheduling tools, support a facilitator paradigm, and store meeting communications for later retrieval. The system can create a collaborative environment for members of a team in communication with a computer network. An interactive thrum can be provided in the collaborative environment in a manner offering varying degrees of structure for collecting information from the members of the team. The information can then be used to arrive at a collaboratively derived decision.

Abstract: A system enables sharing and locking of metadata defining a NLE project. The system controls write access of metadata by transferring ownership of the metadata between various editor users through an intermediary of a server user. Transfers of ownership of metadata are initiated by editor users. Each editor user is enabled to (a) assume ownership of metadata owned by the server user; and (b) relinquish ownership of metadata he or she owns to the server user. Editor users are only permitted to modify metadata that they own, thereby forming a “check in” and “check out” system for controlling write access to metadata. In effect, metadata is “checked in” when an editor user cedes ownership of the metadata to the server user. Metadata owned by the server user is “checked out” when an editor user assumes ownership of the metadata by taking ownership of the metadata away from the server user.

Abstract: System and services are described that permit the creation of “multi-cloud documents.” Multiple synchronized copies of a single document may be synchronized across dissimilar clouds, devices (both mobile and stationary), and operating systems. This may be implemented using software on the devices, in conjunction with an intermediate cloud. Multi-cloud documents may also be shared with other uses using dissimilar clouds, devices, or applications. Documents may be locked on a fine-structured level to minimize the possibility of edit collisions.

Abstract: In an analyst network, at least representative data of information elements (i.e., discrete quantities of content suitable for analysis by one or more analysts), acquired by a routing controller, is provided to a workstation. Based on the representative data, displayed results are provided including information indicative of processing performed by at least a portion of a plurality of analysts using the analyst network. Indicia of treatment indicative of treatment statuses of individual information elements are preferably provided in the displayed data. Various occurrences may give rise to updated treatment statuses that cause the displayed data to be updated as well. In this manner, the present invention enables individual analysts to prioritize processing of information elements based on processing performed throughout the entire analyst network.

Abstract: A similarity analysis framework is described herein which leverages two or more similarity analysis functions to generate synonyms for an entity reference string re. The functions are selected such that the synonyms that are generated by the framework satisfy a core set of synonym-related properties. The functions operate by leveraging query log data. One similarity analysis function takes into consideration the strength of similarity between a particular candidate string se and an entity reference string re even in the presence of sparse query log data, while another function takes into account the classes of se and re. The framework also provides indexing mechanisms that expedite its computations. The framework also provides a reduction module for converting long entity reference strings into shorter strings, where each shorter string (if found) contains a subset of the terms in its longer counterpart.

Abstract: A search request received at a computer of a search support system is processed by analyzing the received search request to identify request parameters and connecting to a system index of the search support system that is referenced in the request parameters. An external result provider (ERP) process is initiated that establishes communication between the search support system and a data source external to the search support system, for a virtual index referenced in the request parameters. Thus, the ERP process provides an interface between the search support system and external data sources, such as by third parties. The ERP process can operate in a streaming mode (providing real-time search results with minimal processing) and/or a reporting mode (providing results with a greater delay and processing extent) and can switch between modes. The search request results are received from the connected system indexes and the referenced virtual indexes.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer storage mediums are provided for collaboratively editing geographic features in a shared geographic database. An example method includes receiving a request from a first user to edit data associated with a plurality of geographic features geocoded within a first geographic area. The first geographic area is selected by the first user and defined by a first set of coordinates. The method then determines whether the first geographic area intersects a second geographic area. The second geographic area is selected by a second user and defined by a second set of coordinates. The intersection between the first and second sets of coordinates is determined by comparing the coordinates of the first and second geographic areas. When the first and second geographic areas do not intersect, the method locks the first geographic area to prevent other users from editing the geographic features geolocated within the first geographic area.

Abstract: A system and method for searching a product model number database having a plurality of product model numbers stored therein receives a string to be searched in the product model number database from a client device. Multiple queries are then created based on the string and the model number database is queried using the created queries. Query results responsive to the created queries are then received from the model number database and transmitted to the client device.

Abstract: A conflict manager according to the present invention is provided for managing concurrent engineering. A common work area is provided and accessible by engineers who also maintain local work areas. The conflict manager immediately notifies users when a drawing file on the common work area is modified. The conflict manager further includes locking, versioning and conflict functionalities.

Abstract: Discovering environment objects for information management in a networked environment. Information management provides services such as data protection, backup, retention, compliance, etc., by classifying the objects and/or infrastructure of an entity according to its value to the entity. Information management begins by discovering the data in a network and by discovering the servers and services operating in a network. The servers and services are discovered using adapters that can collect information regarding the environment objects. This information can then by used by information management systems to assign or orchestrate various services.

Abstract: An extensible file system format for portable storage media is provided. The extensible file system format includes the specification of primary and secondary directory entry types that may be custom defined. The primary and secondary directory entry types can be further classified as critical and benign directory entries. The directory entry types can define whether a cluster chain corresponding to a file can be contiguously allocated.

Abstract: A dynamic approval system, capable of integration with enterprise software systems, where approval requests are generated from within application programs and processed using one or more dynamic approval rules comprising discrete rule steps and step criteria. For each approval request, only those rule steps applicable to the requestor and type of request are processed. Individual rule steps may be reordered, added or skipped, as appropriate, during an approval process. Typical rule steps include at least one request for approval or review. The party receiving the request may be a specific individual, a person holding a specific position, or a person having a relative relationship, such as supervisor, with the requestor.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing a database with data stored at a client includes providing a data feed to receive data by the client from the database and provide received data, caching the received data in a client side cache to provide client side cached data, detecting a database change to data within the database corresponding to the client side cached data according to a polling operation to provide a change event, pushing the change event to the client side cached data to update the client side cached data in accordance with the database change and the polling operation, requesting further data from the database, determining whether the further data includes data of the client side cached data to determine remaining data exclusive of the client side cached data and pushing the remaining data to the client side cached data.

Abstract: A method for generating a probabilistic relational database based on a previous relational database, wherein the probability estimation is carried out within the relational paradigm. The method may include frequency-based and information theoretic based (idf-based) estimation of tuple probabilities. The method generalises the use of information retrieval ranking methods such that these and new ranking methods are available for relational databases.

Abstract: A method for obtaining a result for a post-query may include: (a) Algorithmically treating the query to create a signature. (b) Composing a pseudo-get web identifier including a web address identifying a responding station and the signature. (c) Sending the query via a network to the responding station to request the result. (d) Determining whether the result is stored in a cache unit in the network. (e) If the result is stored in a cache unit, providing the result to the requesting station. (f) If the result is not stored in a cache unit, acquiring the result from the responding station. (g) Storing the result in a receiving cache unit. (h) Sending a resubmitted query via the network to the responding station in a format appropriate to retrieve the stored result from the receiving cache unit. The resubmitted query format includes the signature phrase.

Abstract: This disclosure in part describes systems, devices, and methods for implementing a unification mechanism that enables the unification of various data sets, which can permit greater collaboration between users of a data management platform. For example, a system can be configured to enable a user to add or associate a contextual object with a data measure. In associating the contextual object with the data measure, the system can store the contextual object with the unique dimension coordinates that are associated with data measure. Other users of the system may, in turn, access the data measure and be shown the contextual object associated with the data measure.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for identifying obsolete discussion threads. The method includes extracting keywords from a discussion thread and assigning a keyword score to each keyword. The method further includes identifying a change event that is a change affecting a topic of the forum, extracting a keyword from a recorded medium recording the change event, comparing the keyword from the recorded medium with the keywords from the discussion thread to identify a matching keyword, and reducing the keyword score of the matching keyword to a reduced score based on the matching keyword matching the keyword from the recorded medium. The method further includes aggregating the keyword score assigned to each keyword to obtain a total score for the discussion thread, and displaying a warning on a user interface that includes the discussion thread when the total score is below a pre-specified threshold.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a technique for controlling the creation of process instances within an execution environment such as a Workflow Management System. Upon receiving a request to create a process instance and corresponding input data to be processed by the process instance, a process instance identifier is first constructed for the process instance to be created based on the provided input. Next, the create request is executed, but only if no process instance exists or existed with the same process instance identifier. In the case where a process instance already exists or existed with the same process instance identifier, the present invention permits a user-defined action to be carried out to avoid an identifier conflict.

Abstract: A system and method for representing, storing and retrieving real-world knowledge on a computer or network of computers is disclosed. Knowledge is broken down into permanent atomic “facts” which can be stored in a standard relational database and processed very efficiently. It also provides for the efficient querying of a knowledge base, efficient inference of new knowledge and translation into and out of natural language. Queries can also be processed with full natural language explanations of where the answers came from. The method can also be used in a distributed fashion enabling the system to be a large network of computers and the technology can be integrated into a web browser adding to the browser's functionality.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing a database with displayed data, includes providing a data feed to receive data from the database to provide displayed document data, detecting a database change to the data within the database by a database synchronizer to provide a change event, polling the database synchronizer using an HTTP message to detect the change event, and pushing the database change to the displayed document data to update the displayed document data in accordance with the database change and the polling. The polling includes long polling and short polling. A polling servlet within the database synchronizer performs the polling by the database synchronizer. The database synchronizer updates the displayed document data by way of a data structure. The data structure is a queue.

Abstract: Organizing collaborative annotations of digital items is described. In a particular embodiment, a server system receives a filter request from a client device to filter a plurality of annotations according to criteria included in the filter request. The plurality of annotations is stored at an annotations database coupled to the server system. The server system sends filter results to the client device based upon annotations matching the criteria of the filter request. The annotations may be filtered based on tags associated with respective annotations, where the tags categorize the respective annotations.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium are presented for concurrent markup of a document by a plurality of reviewers. A method includes combining a document and markups associated with a plurality of reviewers into a reviewing file for use by a user. Markups associated with the user are locked and a markup associated with the reviewer is updated. Then the markups associated with the user are unlocked. Updating the markup includes receiving a revised reviewing file that includes a change to the markup, extracting the change to the markup from the revised reviewing file, and saving the changed markup separate from the document.

Abstract: A system being monitored generates alerts directed at participants as events to be resolved occur. As a participant resolves an alerted event, the system logs the steps taken by the participant to resolve the event and stores the event resolution log associated with the event. From that event resolution log, a template for a workflow process can be automatically generated. When similar events occur again, the participant for those future events can be provided with the prior stored event resolution log and/or automatically generated templates for a workflow processes corresponding to the stored event resolution log. Iterative generation and editing of templates can be provided for, wherein subsequent event resolutions for similar events are used to modify the workflow process templates developed from previous event resolutions. Events can include conditions being met in data stored by the system or events representing the lack of occurrence of expected events.

An indication of desired content to be shared between a first database and a second database is sent from the first database to the second database. The first database receives desired content corresponding to the indication and a relevancy determination corresponding to a threshold fraction of users that tag the desired content to a particular category. A first version of the desired content is identified in the first database. A second version of the desired content is received by the first database from the second database upon an identification, at the second database, of the second version of the desired content.

Abstract: Generally described, the present invention is directed to a network operating system that provides more effective ways of leveraging the connectivity of computer networks. In one embodiment, an XML virtual machine is implemented that accepts high-level application code written in an XML programming language as input. Functionality is provided to interpret or translate the application code written in an XML programming language into code that is suitable for execution across computer platforms. Moreover, the XML virtual machine supports the Model View Controller (MVC) design paradigm that facilitates true data abstraction from applications to a common data model. Multi-instance applications, with each instance potentially supporting multiple views, may be created and executed.

Abstract: Document collaboration may be implemented by executing an access interest specification phase. The access interest specification phase may include receiving access requests from collaboration participants for access to a document instance, the access requests specified using a document schema of the document instance and referencing at least one schema portion for access to a corresponding document instance portion based thereon, determining a common access interest group of the collaboration participants, based on the access requests, access credentials of the collaboration participants, and on an access control policy specified in terms of the access credentials, and providing a control data block to the participants of the common access interest group including information for generating a common secret key that is common to the participants of the common access interest group. The document collaboration may further be implemented by executing a collaboration phase.

An event generator, responsive to the annotation data, generates events comprising event content generated in an entry order of input that is stored in event storage. Selection logic defines a selected set of events (that can comprise less than all the events within the entry order of input). Display assembly logic generates display data responsive to processing the event content for the events in said selected set of events. A display presentation is generated responsive to the display data.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided in order to compose audio signals for content in a multi-user environment that provide a high quality audio signal that best represents the content as captured and uploaded by the plurality of users. In the context of a method, audio and/or video content is captured and selected to be uploaded to be shared with other users. The method may analyze the audio signals for a set of uploaded content and determine segments of the analyzed signals that should be pruned. The method uses the signal pruning data to replace or enhance segments of one or more signals to generate a composed signal that is to be shared with other end users. A corresponding apparatus and a computer program product are also provided.

Abstract: Techniques and environments that increase the convenience, efficiency and variety of cloud services are offered to clients. User data having an original representational format is losslessly transformed to form one or more alternate renditions having various representational formats based on the lossless transforms. The renditions, which may be pre-generated, can be stored on a network server instead of the identical user data to thereby reduce redundant computation and storage costs. In some cases both the renditions and the original use data may be stored. The original user data may be reconstructed, recreated, or restored using the alternate renditions.

Abstract: A system for generating applicable electronically transmissible documents includes an applicability service that determines electronically transmissible documents from an electronically transmissible document reference library that are most likely to result in revenues when provided to the user of a website. The applicability service may determine the applicable electronically transmissible documents based upon a number of specifications provided by a website publisher, the electronically transmissible document provider, an electronically transmissible document owner, and/or the user accessing the website.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a mechanism for weighting search results based on active and passive sharing activity among users in the context of a social network. In particular, information being shared among users is monitored. When a search is requested by a user, information recently shared among a user's social network is consulted and is used to weight the search results in the relevance calculation. For example, sharing activity that occurred recently or ongoing is used to weight the search results.

Abstract: Personalized network searching, in which a search query is received from a user, and a request is received to personalize a search result. Responsive to the search query and the request to personalize the search result, a personalized search result is generated by searching a personalized search object. Responsive to the search query, a general search result is generated by searching the general search object. The personalized search result and the general search result are provided to a client device, an advertisement is selected based at least in part upon the personalized search object, and the advertisement, the personalized search result, and the general search result are displayed.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a sample extracting unit, a trail information memory, a trail acquisition instructing unit, a trail accepting unit, and a trail determining unit. The sample extracting unit extracts samples from a population. The trail information memory stores information about trails. The trail acquisition instructing unit provides an instruction to acquire a trail for a sample extracted by the sample extracting unit. The trail accepting unit accepts trails. The trail determining unit determines, every time the trail accepting unit accepts a trail, whether the accepted trail is valid or invalid in accordance with the information stored in the trail information memory. If the trail determining unit determines that the accepted trail is invalid, the trail acquisition instructing unit provides again an instruction to acquire a trail.

Abstract: An intelligent system for database retrieval includes a computing device, an input device, a display device, and a storage device. A user initiates a free-form or structured inquiry of the storage device and the system executes a search for the free-form or structured inquiry and additionally for related knowledge if a free-form inquiry was initiated. The related knowledge search is system initiated and based upon the sensory information of the user and the user's behaviors. The free-form or structured inquiry and related knowledge results are returned to the computing device for formatting in a manner compatible with the user, the user's behavior, and the operating environment. The free-form or structured inquiry and related knowledge results are then displayed on the display device.

Abstract: A document processing method for a medical office includes receiving, at a server with a network interface, electronic documents from a medical office. The server includes a software application adapted to recognize an expected class of electronic documents corresponding to the medical office. The method also includes processing the electronic documents received from the medical office to extract data therefrom based on a recognition that the electronic documents belong to the expected class of electronic documents corresponding to the medical office. The method also includes automatically mapping the extracted data from the processed electronic documents to a data repository on the server. The data repository is accessible by the medical office through the network interface.

Abstract: A semantic-based searching apparatus and method which can search for desired information from various types of media using associative properties of search target objects are provided. The semantic-based searching apparatus stores an associative search structure that previously stores a semantic index. The associative search structure is to obtain a final search object corresponding to an input search query. The semantic index configuration includes feature metadata used to identify a specific object, semantic entity metadata to indicate semantic entities corresponding to the feature metadata, and semantic relation metadata to indicate a relation between the semantic entities. The semantic-based searching apparatus uses semantic metadata stored in conformity with the semantic index configuration, the semantic index, and the associative search structure to generate a search result corresponding to the input search query.

Abstract: Algorithms are provided to determine a final sequence of objects based on separating the objects from a base sequence and two derived sequences into common objects appearing in all three sequences and non-common objects missing from at least one of the sequences, then determining the final order of the common objects, and using the positioning of the non-common objects relative to the common objects in the original sequences. The final sequence represents changes made by the two derived sequences to the base sequence.

Abstract: Certain example embodiments described herein relate to security systems and/or methods for cloud computing environments. More particularly, certain example embodiments described herein relate to the negotiation and subsequent use of Trading Partner Agreements (TPAs) between partners in a Virtual Organization, the TPAs enabling resources to be shared between the partners in a secure manner. In certain example embodiments, TPAs are negotiated, an algorithm is executed to determine where an executable is to be run, the resource is transferred to the location where it is to be run, and it is executed—with the TPAs collectively defining a security policy that constrains how and where it can be executed, the resources it can use, etc. The executable may be transferred to a location in a multipart (e.g., SMIME) message, along with header information and rights associated with the executable.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for publishing activity tasks in a collaborative environment can include the step of publishing selected activity tasks for status viewing by other collaborators in the collaborative environment. In one aspect of the invention, the publishing step can include the step of publishing selected activity tasks for viewing by a subset of the collaborators in the collaborative environment. In another aspect of the invention, the publishing step can include the step of publishing selected activity tasks for viewing by the collaborators in the collaborative environment only for a specified duration. In yet another aspect of the invention, the publishing step can include both publishing selected activity tasks for viewing by the collaborators in the collaborative environment, and periodically updating a status for each of the selected activity tasks.

Abstract: Collaborative editing of electronic documents in realtime is provided. A host serves a client code over a network to a plurality of clients that each employ a browser to run the client code. The client code revises the text document locally in response to user input, frequently sends those edits to the host, receives updates from the other clients via the host, and revises the local text document accordingly. Each client, in some embodiments, stores three variables, one for edits not yet reported to the host, one for edits reported by not yet acknowledged, and one for the text document as modified by the acknowledged edits. Updates from the other clients are applied to the three variables according to certain rules. A composition of the three variables yields a version of the text document. The host keeps records of which edits were introduced by which client.

Abstract: Methods, articles of manufacture and systems for managing execution of workflows. One embodiment provides a computer-implemented method for managing execution of a data driven multi-step workflow. The method includes receiving input data for a step of the workflow and performing the step of the workflow on the input data to obtain a result set. Then, at least one rule is applied to the result set for determining whether one or more associated conditions are satisfied. The at least one rule defines the one or more associated conditions and an associated process. If the one or more associated conditions are satisfied, the associated process is performed on the result set.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a system and method is shown that includes receiving a collaborative list, the receiving including receiving a share structure that includes one or more members. Further, the system and method includes identifying at least one member of the share structure having access to structured data. Additionally, the system and method includes identifying privilege data associated with the at least one member indicating an access privilege to the collaborative list, the collaborative list including the structured data. Moreover, the system and method includes selectively receiving the structured data based on the access privilege associated with the at least one member. The system and method also includes displaying the structured data in a first display area of the GUI. In addition, the system and method also includes displaying the share structure in a second display area of the GUI.
