Abstract: A Digital Media Server (DMS) is used to manipulate a Content Directory Service (CDS) database operatively connected to a Digital Media Player (DMP), where the DMS hosts multimedia content that a user wishes to be presented on the DMP.

Abstract: A cascading teaming system for semantic search is described including the generation, training and testing of a domain-specific module for a domain-specific search. One or more input elements and output elements are specified for the domain-specific module with reference to a domain that relates these elements together through data sets that include related metadata. The related metadata may include semantic terms that are incorporated into a contextual network applicable to the domain.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for providing a media guidance application that identifies users accessing the same media asset, determines which users desire to communicate with each other, and provides an asset-integrated notification to each of the users desiring to communicate, facilitating communication between the users. For example, other users with a desire to communicate with an initial user that are accessing the same media asset as the initial user may be indicated by inserting a media element representative of the other users directly into the media asset watched by an initial user.

Abstract: A patient monitoring system is disclosed herein. The patient monitoring system includes a processor configured to receive CDS search data, and to identify relevant CDS options based on the search data. The patient monitoring system also includes a display operatively connected to the processor. The display is configured to convey the relevant CDS options.

Abstract: An apparatus and method searches and provides additional Points-of-interest (POI) information to a user when basic POI information such as POI name, address, phone number, etc. is specified. In one aspect, the system includes an information managing unit to search, display and transmit POI information, a communication interface and a plurality of information providers adapted to stream information to the communication interface, and a communication network adapted to connect the information managing unit and the communication interface. The basic information and an additional POI information search request can be transmitted from the information managing unit to the communication interface to search for the additional POI information in the information providers and transmit the additional POI information back to the information managing unit. The additional POI information may be filtered and organized before presenting to the user.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for measuring social media. A social media measurement tool is configured to receive or otherwise determine a keyword for evaluation. The tool identifies directly relevant content on one or more social media platforms, where the directly relevant content includes the received keyword. The tool then identifies relevant downstream content on the one or more social media platforms by identifying content that is relevant to the directly relevant content. The system uses the identified content to calculate respective values for one or more metrics for the keyword.

Abstract: A system to facilitate a service oriented email client application. The system includes a service registry, a service address book coupled to an email client, and an email composer coupled to the service address book. The service registry includes service information. The service information describes how to invoke a web service. The service address book includes a web service entry linked to the service information for the web service in the service registry. The email composer generates a user input form with a custom input field corresponding to the service information for the web service.

Abstract: A processor-implemented method, system, and/or computer program product generates and utilizes synthetic context-based objects. A non-contextual data object is associated with a context object to define a synthetic context-based object, where the non-contextual data object ambiguously relates to multiple subject-matters, and where the context object provides a context that identifies a specific subject-matter, from the multiple subject-matters, of the non-contextual data object. The synthetic context-based object is then associated with at least one specific data store, which includes data that is associated with data contained in the non-contextual data object and the context object. A request for a data store that is associated with the synthetic context-based object results in the return of at least one data store that is associated with the synthetic context-based object.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a level of a first hierarchy and a second hierarchy of data attributes is determined where the first hierarchy and the second hierarchy share the determined level and each subordinate hierarchical level. The embodiment further removes from a set of tuples of a database operation at least one tuple that lacks corresponding data in a data source based on the tuple containing elements corresponding to non-intersecting sets of attributes at the determined level. Embodiments of the present invention include a method, system and computer program product for reducing tuple sets in substantially the same manner described above.

Abstract: Provided are techniques for generating a relational query. Information is collected from a query specification and a model for an On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) query having at least a first expression and a second expression. The collected information is used to generate a relational query to retrieve report data to be used to satisfy the first expression and the second expression.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide a tool for extracting schema from a spreadsheet. In an embodiment, a set of data that is stored in an uncataloged tabular format, such as a spreadsheet, is retrieved. The structure of the retrieved set of data is surveyed to determine the dataset schema thereof. Then, data elements within the dataset schema are analyzed to obtain information regarding the data elements. Based on dataset schema and the element information, an interface can be constructed that allows remote access to the set of data.

Abstract: Embodiments of a repair correlation system are described, wherein the repair correlation system identifies related vehicle repairs based on key parts (or the most important parts) of an automotive sub-system. The repair correlation system can use a database or other data repository of matching parts to identify related automotive sub-systems (e.g., engine, transmission, etc.) by matching key parts for sub-systems across different brands and models. For example, the repair correlation system can determine that repairs for a first engine with key parts A, B, and C are applicable to a second engine with the same key parts. Thus, an engine in a Honda car and an engine in a Ford car could be identified by the system as having co-applicable repair data based at least partly on the key parts matching, even though the engines are used by different brands and models.

Abstract: A method and system for detecting orphan content in a hierarchical data tree are provided. The method includes receiving, at the computer, a selection of at least one directory that includes a plurality of data files to be analyzed, analyzing all links embedded within the data files stored in the at least one selected directory, detecting files that are not referenced by a link in any other data file, determining that no other links are embedded within the data files stored in the at least one selected directory, and generating an orphan content report that includes link data for each orphan file detected.

Abstract: A method for semantic service registration and query based on WordNet is disclosed. The method includes the following steps: (1) semantic service registration: a service provider registers a service and uploads the Web Service Description Language (WSDL) document corresponding to the service, and a system parses the WSDL document to form a service description tree, then constructs a WordNet ontology tree according to the input of the service, performs a semantic annotation on the input/output of the service to form a Web Service Semantic Description Document (WSDL-S), and finally stores it in a register library; (2) semantic service discovery: a service requester inputs the information of service type, semantic information of the service input/output and other user-defined information to the register library to retrieve the services meeting the requirements; and (3) similarity sorting: the services meeting a certain threshold are sorted in descending order.

Abstract: A search extensibility application framework enables a hosted web search experience to be extended so that apps which are related to a search query can be presented to a user of a client computing device such as a smartphone. In various illustrative examples, a hosted search app is implemented using HTML5 code generated at a remote search provider server. Responsively to a user query at the search app's user interface (“UI”), the server returns an HTML5 payload including meta tags specifying criteria including app extension categories, actions, and known apps that support search terms in the query. Apps that are installed on the client device which match the criteria can then be displayed and launched through the UI to advantageously enable the users to complete a task specific search. JavaScript interfaces are provided to enable apps to update their install state and to be injected into the hosted search app.

At least one query control block is incorporated in the field programmable gate array, and database management system operations are accelerated via the field programmable gate array. Abstract: A method for identifying knowledgeable and available contacts in a given instant messaging system for possible communication purposes. The method includes a computer receiving a keyword and searching for the keyword in correspondence files of users of the instant messaging system. Based on the results of the search, the computer identifies users that have used the keyword in their correspondence. The computer determines the availability of each of the identified users and ranks the identified users based on predefined criteria, which includes at least the determined availability.

Abstract: A computerized method, system for, and computer-readable medium operable to: retrieve program details data about at least one media program. Retrieve social media posts involving the at least one media program. Match the retrieved program details data with the retrieved social media posts to find matching locations. Store time offset data corresponding to the matched locations within the at least one media program into at least one micropost. Rank the at least one media program by the number of microposts corresponding to the at least one media program. Responsive to receiving a search query, a computer determines a result set for the search query including one or more one records from a record storage device, and determines whether the one or more records contain a link to a profile associated to an individual in a corporate directory. Responsive to determining that the one or more records contain the link to the profile associated with the individual in the corporate directory, the computer accesses the corporate directory and determines a corporate standing of the individual in the corporate directory. Responsive to determining the corporate standing of the individual in the corporate directory, the computer determines a relevancy score for the corporate standing of the individual in the corporate directory.

Abstract: A set of potential search-query terms can be identified based on empirical queries for apps. For each potential search-query term, a subset of documents within a set of documents can be identified based on apps that users were likely to click on or download following entry of a search query with a comparable or same term. One or more other indicator terms can be identified as being related to the potential search-query term based on the one or more second indicator terms being prevalent within the subset of documents. Upon receipt of a subsequent search query, a search can then be performed using both a term within the search query and one or more related other indicator terms.

Abstract: In an effort to enhance computer user engagement with a search results page, systems and methods are presented which are configured to identify an entity as being the subject matter of a user's search query. If the entity is a known entity, i.e., entity information is stored in an entity store for the identified entity, a subset of entity attributes are identified and a representative entity attribute question is obtained for each of the attributes in the subset of entity attributes. The representative entity attribute questions are identified according to the probability that they are formed linguistically correct. The representative entity attribute questions are included in a search results page that is generated in response to the user's search query.

Abstract: An offline support system operates to record a plurality of request/response pairs exchanged between an application and a web service. The system determines if a current request from the application can be communicated to the web service. Upon a positive determination, the current request is passed to the web service. Upon a negative determination, a most recent recorded request/response pair having a request matching the current request is identified. The response from the identified pair is passed to the application as if it were a response to the current request.

Abstract: A system and method for generating search engine analytics data to be displayed on a display. A processor may send search queries to a first country search engine and to a second country search engine and receive first and second ranked result sets in response. The processor may generate search engine data for a domain based on the search queries, the first ranked result set, and the second ranked result set. The processor may further generate report data to be displayed on the display based on the search engine data. The report data may include data effective to display first analytics for the domain for the first country search engine and second analytics for the domain for the second country search engine. Analytics may represent trends of ranks over a time interval.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for storing, retrieving, and managing data streams, such as data packets, on a network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a network monitoring system (NMS) includes an access device for retrieving data from a network, and a circular storage device coupled to the access device. The circular storage device is operative to retrieve a portion of a data stored in the circular storage device based on a query. The portion of the data retrieved is a broader subset of results of the query. A remote data processing device refines the portion of the data retrieved from the circular storage device based on the query. The circular storage device coupled to the access device may be further operative to overwrite the at least a portion of the data stream based on a set of criteria.

Abstract: Online learning of click-through rates on search result blocks from one or more federated sources may be provided. Click-through feedback for the search result blocks may be received from the one or more federated sources in response to a query. Weights may be assigned to each of the search result blocks based on the received click-through feedback. The search result blocks may then be ranked based on the assigned weights. Finally, a search results page may be generated for displaying the ranked search results blocks to a user.

Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to executing a mixed query to search a database retained in a data repository. The mixed query includes a regular expression, which is a pattern of elements, and a semantic constraint. The elements in the regular expression include a first wildcard, where the semantic constraint restricts a meaning of the first wildcard. Moreover, the elements in the regular expression include explicit lexical constraint(s) and/or disparate wildcard(s). For instance, semantic constraint(s) can restrict meaning(s) of the disparate wildcard(s). The mixed query is executed to retrieve results that match the pattern of the elements in the regular expression and satisfy the semantic constraint(s).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products describe cloud-based automation of home and industrial programmable controllers. A server executes a packet generation application for controlling an output device. The server then sends a package of commands to a programmable controller. Each command is executed according to date and time to control the output device. Because the packet generation application is cloud-based, different programs may be offered by competing vendors. The programmable controller may thus be agnostic to the packet generation application. The marketplace may thus develop a variety of server-based packet generation applications, each with different features, for controlling the output device.

Abstract: A method, a system and a computer program product provide responses to inquiries residing within text processed by an application. An inquiry is identified within text being processed by the application, and a context of the identified inquiry is determined One or more available data sources is searched to produce a series of responses to the identified inquiry, and the series of responses is evaluated to rank and determine an accuracy level value for each response. The ranked responses along with associated accuracy levels can be displayed.

Abstract: Architecture that facilitates relevance analysis for user queries for items of interest (e.g., businesses) for which social relevance (the composition of people frequenting the business) of the environment. The social relevance can be determined based on social data related to other people using techniques such as cross referencing social distance, social network activities with geolocation and check-in data, time/date information associated with social content, and text mining to inform and validate conclusions. The social relevance of many users and historical trends of the data can be combined to compute scores for the items of interest. Additionally, the social relevance of persons currently visiting the business can be used to compute a current score. Predictions can be computed for specific points in time in the future. The techniques can augment, filter, and/or add “coolness” information to search results, within a general purpose, a local-oriented search page or an application.

Abstract: Techniques are presented for providing a software fitting assessment. The techniques may be performed by methods, apparatus, and/or computer program products. The techniques include automatically matching on a computer system one or more specified requirements for a project with one or more software functions stored in a repository. The automatically matching includes mining the repository in order to match requirements. The repository includes software functions, requirements accumulated from previous projects, and results of stored matches between the software functions and the requirements accumulated from previous projects. The techniques include outputting by the computer system one or more results of the matching.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for implementing custom object-in-memory formats in a data grid network appliance. The techniques include maintaining a record of format definitions on a client device of the data grid and a corresponding record of format definitions on a server device of the data grid. Each format definition may indicate one or more attributes of an object class and data types and byte ranges of the attributes. The client device may serialize one or more objects for storage in the data grid based on respective format definitions associated with the one or more objects and retrieved from the record of format definitions maintained on the client device. Further, the server device may perform one or more data grid operations using format definitions retrieved from the record of format definitions maintained on the server device.

Abstract: A data cache platform maintains pre-computed database query results computed by a computation platform based on data maintained in the computation platform and is configured to determine probabilities of the cached database query results being outdated, to automatically issue re-computation orders to the computation platform for updating cached database query results on the basis of the determined probabilities of the pre-computed database query results being outdated and to receive the updated pre-computed database query results as results of the re-computation orders. The probability determination depends on a probabilistic model and on the occurrence of asynchronous real-time events. The real-time events are indeterministic with regard to the expiration of the cached database query results and only have a probabilistic influence on the discrepancies between the cached database query results maintained in the data cache platform and presumed actual database query results.

Abstract: A smart user-centric information aggregation system allows a user to define a region of content displayed in a display of a device and performs information aggregation on behalf of the user. The smart user-centric information aggregation system searches, aggregates and groups information related to content included in the region of content for the user while the user can continue to perform his/her original course of actions without interruption. After finding information related to the desired content, the smart user-centric information aggregation system may notify the user and present the found information to the user upon receiving confirmation from the user. The smart user-centric information aggregation system may continue to find new related information and update the presentation with the newly found information periodically, in some instances without user intervention or input.

Abstract: A product catalog includes information regarding products for sale online by various merchants. An analysis software module can identify brand names in the product catalog that relate to the same brand. The analysis module can compute parameters of pairs of product offers having matching product identifiers. The analysis module can group the product offer pairs into brand pair groups based on the brand names for the products subject to the product offers. The analysis module can compute parameters of each brand pair group based on product offer pairs in the brand pair group and attributes of product offers in the product catalog. The analysis module can use the computed parameters to determine whether the brand names of each brand pair are related. The analysis module can use the identified related brand names and additional attributes of product offers to identify product offers related to the same product.

Abstract: A method of analyzing physiological data streams. According to the method, physiological data is received into a computerized machine. The physiological data comprises numerical data and medical symptoms of a patient. Features are extracted from the physiological data based on development of the physiological data over a period of time. The features are converted into a textual representation using natural language generation. Input terms for an information retrieval system operating on the computerized machine are automatically generated based on the features. The input terms are input to the information retrieval system. A corpus of data is automatically searched to retrieve results to the input terms using the information retrieval system.

Abstract: A data source, such as a database, is modeled using state variables, state, and actions performed on the data source. State variable queries may be automatically generated by generating queries or functions based on intercepting data queries to a data source and using the intercepted data query language. State variable queries may automatically inspect data objects within the data store and automatically generate state variable values. The state variable queries or functions may be executed automatically after an action is run against a data source such that state information is automatically determined. Further, a graphical user interface used to modify, add and delete state information and automatic state variable queries associated with the verification model is described.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method determines a job to dispatch for transcoding a source file. The source file is stored on a node in a distributed file system in which a plurality of nodes are storing a plurality of source files. The method then determines location information for the source file in the distributed file system where the location information identifies the node in which the source file is stored. Also, a node in the plurality of nodes is determined in which to dispatch the source file based on the location information for the source file. Then, the job is dispatched to the determined node such that transcoding of the source file is performed on the determined node.

Abstract: A computerized system provides automatic generation and sending of advice to a first predetermined individual to help that person's relationship with a second predetermined individual. The advice content is composed and tailored from pre-written text based on the answers to survey questions from those individuals. Also, a gift suggestion system provides gift recommendations to the first predetermined individual to give to the second predetermined individual. One or more distinct invited groups of friends, relatives, provide the recommendations.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable storage media for automatically checking and acting on one or more claims. Implementations include actions of receiving claim information associated with one or more claims, wherein each of the one or more claims includes a factual claim, processing the claim information based on a domain vocabulary to identify at least one of one or more keywords and one or more categories, for each claim of the one or more claims: identifying one or more facts relevant to the claim, and determining an accuracy of the claim based on the one or more facts generating a confidence score reflecting an overall confidence in the one or more claims based on respective accuracies, and transmitting at least one of the one or more claims and the confidence score for display in a graphical user interface (GUI).

Abstract: Architecture that automatically employs web search user query data to identify the places (e.g., locations, businesses) to which people are likely traveling, and then produces a heatmap visualization of the most popular places in the local area on a local map in a mapping application, which is then viewable in the vertical listing of the search results. This data can be utilized to rank local businesses in terms of popularity by knowing how many people are actually visiting the business as a function of date (and perhaps time). The web search data, which is used to understand the popular locations of a geographical area, includes signals such as searching for directions in the map application, and analyzing directions-related terms such as “From” and “To” in the search results. Another signal can be a location or business search which triggers an appropriate instant answer.

Abstract: A system to implement query-level access by a database engine to an external distributed file system by identifying a results file location of one or more results files on the external distributed file system, and storing the results file locations in external table files on the database engine for subsequent use during retrieval of data from the results files. The database engine serves to process queries where the query specifies the external table (which in turn references locations of the results files). Execution of the query streams data from the external distributed file system into the database engine. The data from the external distributed file system is not stored in the external table files on the database engine; rather, the external table files specify a location of code or operational directives which, when executed, streams results from the external distributed file system to at least one parallel query engine.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable and executable instructions are provided for keyword extraction. A method for keyword extraction can include extracting a number of keywords from content inside an enterprise social network utilizing pattern recognition, constructing a semantics graph based on the number of keywords, and determining content themes within the enterprise social network based on the constructed semantics graph.
