  • Patent number: 8990664
Abstract: A method begins by a dispersed storage (DS) processing module selecting a data segment and verifying integrity values of encoded data slices generated by encoding the data segment. When integrity values of a decode threshold number of encoded data slices are affirmatively verified, the method continues with the DS processing module verifying an integrity value of the data segment. When the integrity value of the data segment is affirmatively verified, the method continues with the DS processing module generating a new set of encoded data slices. The method continues with the DS processing module verifying concurrency of the set of encoded data slices with the new set of encoded data slices and for each encoded data slice having a negative concurrency verification, flagging the encoded data slice as being potentially compromised.

  • Patent number: 8943389
Abstract: A data buffer section stores input words, and outputs them to a first signal line group in order. An error checking and correcting code is generated that has the same number of bits as the words. Some bits are not to be output at the same time within the range of the first and second signal line groups or within the range of a partial signal line group included in the first and second signal line groups. A code transmission section outputs the error checking and correcting code to different signal lines of the second signal line group respectively, such that a plurality of bits in a code word are not output at the same time within the range of the first and second signal line groups or within the range of a partial signal line group included in the first and second signal line groups.

Abstract: In a method for packet transmission over IP networks redundant IP packet streams are generated by an IP transmitter (32) and transmitted using separate network paths (34) to one or more IP receivers (36). At each IP receiver (36) duplicate IP packets are overwritten to form a single combined packet stream. By using redundant IP packet streams the effects of packet loss and of network congestion can be reduced. A device and system for packet transmission over IP networks is also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a device for decoding Polar codes. A reliable subset is extracted from an information bit set of the Polar codes, where reliability of information bits in the reliable subset is higher than reliability of other information bits. The method includes: obtaining a probability value or an LLR of a current decoding bit of the Polar codes; when the current decoding bit belongs to the reliable subset, performing judgment according to the probability value or the LLR of the current decoding bit to determine a decoding value of the current decoding bit, keeping the number of decoding paths of the Polar codes unchanged, and modifying probability values of all the decoding paths by using the probability value or the LLR of the current decoding bit.

Abstract: At a receiver side, to enhance the performance of concatenated LDPC and TCM coding, an iterative decoding between TCM decoder and LDPC decoder enables improvement in the reliability of received LLRs of each symbol after each iteration. A SOVA output of the TCM is used for LDPC decoding, and then the updated LLRs from LDPC decoder are further looped back to the TCM decoder for the next iteration. In such a manner, the decoding performance could be significantly improved after just several iterations.

  • Patent number: 8938661
Abstract: An application programming interface (API) executed by a first processing unit combines audio data samples with error code values generated for those samples. The API then causes a data stream to be opened having sufficient bandwidth to accommodate combined samples made up of audio data samples and corresponding error code values. The combined samples are then transmitted to a decoder and validation unit within a second processing unit that receives the combined data, strips the error code values and validates the audio data based on the error code values. When the error code values indicate that the audio data has been compromised, the second processing unit terminates the output of sound derived from the audio data.

Abstract: System and methods for storing data encoded with error information in a storage medium are provided. A binary data and an encoded binary error signals are received. The encoded binary error signal includes information that represents occurrence of errors in the binary data signal. The binary data and encoded binary error signals are encoded to generate a binary codeword signal. Bits of the binary codeword signal that represent coding information and the binary data signal are extracted. The extracted bits of the binary codeword signal are stored in a first storage medium. The binary packed data signal is retrieved from the first storage device and decoded to recover the binary data signal and a syndrome. Error information corresponding to the encoded binary error signal may be determined based on the syndrome.
