Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling navigation behavior in a computer network include an object creation node, an object navigation node, and an object server node. The object creation node may define objects in images that are associated with network resources. The object server node stores the objects and associated network resources. When an image containing an object is retrieved by an object navigation node, the object server node sends a definition of the object and a network resource identifier to the object navigation node. The object navigation node can access the network resource using the received network resource identifier when interacting with the object.

Abstract: Methods, systems, graphical computer interfaces, and computer readable media are disclosed to enable optimizing video frame rendering characteristics for an application. The method includes rendering a video frame and capturing push buffer settings representing the rendering of the video frame. The method also includes modifying an aspect of the push buffer settings while bypassing the application, and re-rendering the frame with the modified aspect. The method further enables comparing the rendering with the re-rendering, and presenting comparison results. Graphical user interfaces are provided to enable the functionality, without having to modify code of the application to appreciate what potential changes to the application can present in terms of performance rendering and processing efficiencies.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electronic apparatus and method thereof. The electronic apparatus includes a communication unit receiving content and additional information for the content, a signal processing unit signal-processing the content and determining the signal-processed contents into one of an audio signal and a video frame, and a processor determining a first keyword and a second keyword for the first keyword by using the additional information and generating summary content according to a plurality of video frames synchronized to a plurality of audio signal sections corresponding to at least one of the first keyword and the second keyword. As a result, the summary contents are able to be easily generated.

Abstract: A subscription system includes a national subscription server capable of tracking which local stations subscribe to particular radio station music formats, for example AC middays, Top 40 afternoons, morning programs, or overnight Contemporary AC. A local music scheduler can query the subscription server for a log of nationally scheduled content to fill one or more dayparts of a local broadcast schedule. The subscription system can determine where to obtain the requested log, and provide the log to the local scheduler for insertion into a particular daypart of the local clock, while leaving the remaining dayparts free for local scheduling. Trusted subscribers can also be permitted to alter portions of log of nationally scheduled items. Inserting the log of nationally scheduled items into the local clock provides local awareness of both local and national media items scheduled for broadcast.

The system and method enables an individual to create a virtually universal home commerce and monitoring ecosystem by integrating a device into their home Wi-Fi and content consumption systems.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that facilitate evaluation of digital content preferences are provided. A user is presented with items of digital content and permitted to manipulate the arrangement of the digital content items in the context of a layout area. Based on the user's manipulation of the digital content items, a user preference regarding an arrangement of digital content, such as a location preference, a position preference, and/or a usage preference, is identified. In embodiments, such a user preference can be utilized to later display digital content to a user in accordance therewith.

Abstract: A system for and method of enhancing video advertising with interactive content in accordance with exemplary embodiments may include receiving non-interactive video advertisement data and advertisement order data associated with the non-interactive video advertisement data, generating interactive content data associated with the non-interactive video advertisement data, embedding, in the non-interactive video advertisement data, the interactive content data, and transmitting, to an ad server component of an ad system, the non-interactive video advertisement data and the embedded interactive content data for transmission to one or more end user devices.

Abstract: A storyboard interface displaying key frames of a video may be presented to a user. Individual key frames may represent individual shots of the video. Shots may be grouped based on similarity. Key frames may be displayed in a chronological order of the corresponding shots. Key frames of grouped shots may be spatially correlated within the storyboard interface. For example, shots of a common group may be spatially correlated so that they may be easily discernable as a group even though the shots may not be temporally consecutive and/or or even temporally close to each other in the timeframe of the video itself.

Abstract: A media system and a method of providing recommended search term corresponding to an image are disclosed. Herein, a display device may be configured to display a still image of the content and a search window on a display screen. And, an electronic device may be configured to verify whether or not an image or a portion of the image has been dragged to the displayed search window, wherein the image may be included in the still image, and, when the image or the portion of the image has been dragged to the search window, the electronic device may be configured to send directions to the display device, so that the display device can display multiple search terms related to the image or the portion of the image as recommended search term on the search window.

Abstract: System, method, and computer program product to identify differences between different media formats of a media title, by identifying at least one component of each of the different media formats of the media title, the at least one component comprising a unit of the media title, annotating a respective text transcription of each of the different media formats of the media title to include at least one attribute of the respective at least one component, computing a difference score for a first component of a first media format of the media title relative to each of the remaining different media formats of the media title, and upon determining that the difference score for the first component relative to a second media format of the media title exceeds a predefined threshold, creating an indication that the first component of the first media format is different from the second media format.

The video service includes video content provided by a video service provider, and the video service device is associated with a customer premises network. The method includes identifying a first video program displayed by the video service device. The method also includes identifying a personal device that accesses other content via another communication channel. The method includes identifying a user account associated with the personal device, identifying preferences associated with the user account, and determining cross channel content based on the video content, the first content and the preferences associated with the user account. The method includes integrating the cross channel content and the first content to form integrated content, and providing the integrated content at the personal device coordinated with the receipt of the first video program at the video service device.

Abstract: There is provided an information processing apparatus capable of recognizing a plurality of movable contents, obtaining movement history information about positions of the recognized contents, determining a relationship between the contents from the movement history information about the positions, and facilitating explanation of the contents by using the relationship. To this end, images of a plurality of contents having order information are projected based on the order information, which of the projected images is selected is detected, a projection unit is caused to project an image of a content related to a source content of the detected image by using a display mode based on a relationship between the source content and the related content. Through such control, the relationship between the source content and the related content is shown in an easy-to-understand manner.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes enabling a user of event recorder playback software to select a past time segment of recorded locomotive event data. The method includes presenting recorded video data recorded by one or more cameras on the locomotive during the past time segment, presenting recorded GPS map data indicative of the geographical position of the locomotive during the past time segment, and presenting recorded locomotive operational data recorded during the past time segment. The presentations of recorded video data, recorded GPS map data, and recorded locomotive operational data are synchronized based on a common attribute associated with all of the recorded data. Implementation of a select animation process to one or more of the presentations of recorded data results in the simultaneous implementation of the same select animation process to another of the presentations of recorded data.

Abstract: Automatic rating optimization is described. In an embodiment, ratings of a program can be received from one or more rating sources. Based on these ratings, a representation of a content selection mechanism can be sent to potential consumers of the content. Access events for the content can be counted over a duration of time so a determination can be made regarding how the ratings provided by each of the rating sources affect popularity of the content. A weight accorded to ratings received from each of the rating sources can be adjusted based on the determination. Profiles can be established for consumers and/or rating sources.

Abstract: A method selects events from an event log for presentation along a timeline. The method may receive information associated with the timeline to define an interval of interest and a partition size, and divide the timeline into a plurality of segments based on the partition size. The method may further identify each segment having at least one relevant event within the segment, where a relevant event is an event which starts within a segment and overlaps with the interval of interest. The method may determine parameters associated with at least one relevant event for each identified segment, and provide the determined parameters along with an index which designates each identified segment. The determined parameters may be provided to a client to generate the timeline of the at least one relevant event. An apparatus can implement the method to select events from an event log which are associated with a defined time interval.

In at least some embodiments, primary content includes different types of content, such as television programs, live broadcasts, web content, and so forth. Summary content can be generated that encapsulates various aspects and/or events of primary content. In at least some embodiments, summary content is selectable to retrieve other types of content. For instance, summary content can be selected to retrieve supplementary content and/or associated primary content. Implementations enable a variety of different interactions with summary content, such as searching, bookmarking, browsing, and so on.

In some implementations, a method for presenting ranked comments is provided, the method comprising: receiving, using a hardware processor, content data related to an item of content; receiving, using the hardware processor, comment data related to a comment associated with the item of content; determining, using the hardware processor, a degree of correlation between at least a portion of the comment data and one or more portions of the content data; determining, using the hardware processor, a priority for the comment based on the degree of correlation; and presenting, using the hardware processor, the comment based on the priority.

One or more options may be provided for customizing the programming guide mosaic screen. The one or more options may include an option for populating the programming guide mosaic screen with recommended video content, an option for populating the programming guide mosaic screen with video content items with metadata that is similarly matched with a selected video content item or with a video content item currently being viewed by the user, or an option for populating the programming guide mosaic screen with one or more video content items associated with a specific mood. Upon selection of an option, currently airing content matching the selected option may populate one or more video panes in the mosaic display of the programming guide screen.

The review process may be managed independent of a managing server where the content creator/editor may generate a review file and send the review file to the reviewers using a client content creation and editing software program on local machine of the content creator/editor.

A representation of the received media may be presented in a media guide and/or a channel guide at the first location and the received media may be consumed at the first location. The method may further comprise the step of requesting that the received media be transferred from the storage location to a second location. An identifier of the second location may be transferred to the non-broadcast channel provider so that media may be transferred to the second location.

Abstract: A system and method may be provided that allows users to store, retrieve, and manipulate on-demand media content and data stored on a remote server network in an on-demand media delivery system. More particularly, the system may allow a user to access his or her on-demand media account from user equipment in different locations as long as the current user equipment can communicate with a remote server that stores user-specific information. The system upon user selection may freeze the delivery of on-demand media at a particular point and allow the user to resume the media at a later time from some other network location in system. Users may upload personal images or files to an on-demand delivery server for later retrieval and display. Users may be permitted to assign access rights to the uploaded files.

A machine learning technique may be applied to each of the signals individually and/or in aggregate (e.g., the interest metric) to ascertain a weighting scheme, for example, for each individual signal or the interest metric to improve the selection of portions of video from a gameplay recording.

Abstract: A function of being controlled by a second monitor camera controller is added to a first monitor camera controller which controls a plurality of monitor cameras. The second monitor camera controller is caused to recognize the first monitor camera controller as a monitor camera. The first monitor camera controller synthesizes videos from the monitor cameras as one video, and transmits the synthetic video to the second monitor camera controller. Control of the monitor cameras or acquisition of videos is conducted by controlling the first monitor camera controller recognized as a monitor camera by use of a control function of a part or all of pan, tilt and zoom.

The client may include a laptop, palmtop or tablet computer, a cellular telephone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a set top box (STB), or a television (TV).

Abstract: A user/viewer directed film entertainment system preferably includes computer hardware, software, on-line content and audio/video media that allows the user to watch a story unfold in a nonlinear fashion according to the desires of the user and preferably from various points of view. The system provides a story broken up by a plot related category (e.g., characters) into story segments. These segments tell the story from the vantage point of these characters, each having their own storyline within the main story. Each character's storyline may or may not intersect with other storylines. While the user can watch a chosen character's story segments straight through and likely understand enough to allow the user to reveal the end, the user may miss important information contained in other characters' storyline that adds to the chosen character's story. The user can choose any order and any character as desired.

Abstract: Data including information regarding a display of the host device may be received. A display of a client device may correspond to the display of the host device. Information regarding the display of the host device may be monitored for changes. When a change is detected, a movement of an image may be identified. Instructions may be generated regarding the changes to the display. A client device may process such instructions to incorporate the detected change while maintaining a remaining portion of the display. The instructions may include a motion vector command for the image movement and a command to fill in space vacated by the moving image. As such, the client device is not required to re-process and re-render an entire display where a change pertains to only a portion thereof.

A selectable icon positioned in association with a descriptor that identifies the particular television channel may be generated in response to identifying the indication of user interest and for display within the programming guide. An interactive pane that identifies at least one particular program that is stored within an omnibus channel file containing a plurality of programs broadcast consecutively on the particular television channel over a predefined period of time may be generated in response to user selection of the selectable icon for display within the programming guide.

Abstract: A recommender system uses an activity decision tree to model the changes in a user's behavior according to a plurality of time-related features. The system determines historical activities for the user, and generates a decision tree for the user's historical activities. Each leaf node of the decision tree is associated with an activity-prediction model that computes a probability for a corresponding activity. The system selects a path of the decision tree from a root node to a leaf node of the decision tree based on a target time. The selected path traverses two or more non-leaf nodes that are each associated with a temporal decision model that compares the target time against a temporal classifier. The system then determines a probability for a user activity based on an activity-prediction model of the selected path.

Abstract: Several implementations provide a system for sequencing, or cueing, content for presentation to an audience. One such implementation provides a low bit-rate system for use with, for example, a tablet. One particular implementation constructs a display plane including a first content source window indicating content from a first content source, and a timeline for sequencing the first content source into a presentation for a presentation device. The display plane is provided to a remote device, and command information is received from the remote device. The command information is for modifying the display plane. The display plane is modified based on the received command information. Another particular implementation receives the display plane, determines command information for modifying the display plane, and provides the command information to the remote device for modifying the display plane.

Abstract: The system and method disclosed herein relate to the establishment of both the location and identity of individual items in pictures or videos. Once the one or more items in the picture/video are identified and matched to images in a reference database, the locations of the items is established and additional information relating to the items is accessed. Collectively, the position data and additional data is merged in the electronic pictures or videos and then provided to a user as a merged data stream. Additional functionality related to those identified items can occur when those identified locations are “pointed to”, “clicked” or otherwise selected (e.g., purchase an item, request information, select another video stream, play a game, share the item, rate, “Like”, and the like).

Abstract: Techniques for generating customized rating systems for use in a DVR are described. According to one technique, a user submits a rating system definition that comprises two or more different ratings of the user's choosing. The rating system definition is stored. The rating system definition defines a customized ratings system. That system's creator and other users may then associate various entities, such as channels, series, and episodes, with ratings from the customized rating system. DVRs may use these associations between entities and ratings for various purposes. For example, DVRs may use these associations to allow a user to search for entities that satisfy specified rating criteria. For another example, DVRs may use these associations to restricting which entities and information about those entities can be displayed or recorded when the DVR is in a restricted mode of operation. Customized rating systems may be modified by multiple users in collaboration.

Abstract: System, method, and computer program product to resume playback between different media formats of a media title, by monitoring progress of a user consuming the media title in a first media format, differences existing between the first media format and the different media formats, responsive to the user stopping consumption of the media title in the first media format, computing a stopping point in the first media format, identifying at least one resume point for each of the different media formats, computing a similarity score for each identified resume point based on a similarity of the stopping point in the first media format and each identified resume point, and upon determining that the user has triggered an indication to consume the media title in a second media format, resuming playback of the media title at a resume point for the second media format having the highest similarity score.

In an example embodiment, the middle section includes an action bar including a number of active icons providing actions such as playing a new video in a new window, hyperlinking to a website, interacting with social media, etc. In a further example embodiment, the display of the split-screen involves capturing a static image of a screen of the video that was paused and animating a split of the static image to display the action bar in the middle section of the split-screen.

Abstract: Data files, applications and/or corresponding user interfaces may be accessed at a device that collaborates in a mesh. The mesh may include any number or type of devices that collaborate in a network. Data, applications and/or corresponding user interfaces may be stored within a core object that may be shared over the mesh. Information in the core object may be identified with a corresponding user such that a user may use any collaborating device in the mesh to access the information. In one example, the information is stored remotely from a device used to access the information. A remote source may store the desired information or may determine the storage location of the desired information in the mesh and may further provide the desired information to a corresponding user.

Abstract: System and methods for meeting update dissemination in a real-time communication system are provided. An embodiment method of disseminating updates in a real-time communications system includes storing, in a database, indicators received from a leader of a meeting, the indicators pertaining to predetermined topics to be discussed during the meeting, collecting, in the database, data from the meeting corresponding to the indicators while the meeting is in progress, receiving, at the database, an indication that a participant has joined the meeting after the meeting has begun, and alerting, by the database, the participant that the data that was collected before the participant joined the meeting is available to the participant for review during the meeting.
