Abstract: A user interface of a device for displaying a representation of a network of objects wherein a plurality of selectable objects are rendered, and each of the plurality of selectable objects are rendered having a given positioning relative to each other of the plurality of selectable objects. One or more edges are rendered interconnecting the plurality of selectable objects within a first region of the user interface. A second region is rendered in response to one or more of the selectable objects of the first region being selected. Objects corresponding to the selected objects are depicted in the second region while maintaining the given relative positioning. A number of additional objects may be retrieved from a database that indicates objects that are adjoining the corresponding objects. The adjoining objects are positioned in the second region and are interconnected to the corresponding objects by one or more additional edges.

Abstract: One particular implementation of the present invention may take the form of a method for correlating partial views of network resources into normalized or aggregated views for use by an administrator. The implementation may compare a newly detected resource against the known set of normalized resources of the network to correlate the new resource with an existing network resource. More particularly, one method for correlating network resources may compare key/value pairs associated with a new resource with key/value pairs associated with a first normalized resource. If the new resource does not correlate to the first normalized resource, the method may then compare the key/value pairs of the new resource to the key/value pairs of the second normalized resource. A second implementation may compare a unique key/value pair to a map containing the unique key/value pairs of each normalized resource, until the unique key/value pair is found.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for providing a computerized provisioning environment for a service agent performing provisioning of intelligence network services is provided. The method includes grouping the identity information of the service agent, a plurality of navigation links directed to information pages, and a plurality of task links directed to a task pages into separate sections. The method also includes displaying the separate sections on a same single layout.

Abstract: Some embodiments disclose a remote support system having an analyzer and a communication link to connect to an event log associated with a monitored system. The analyzer is to monitor the event log over the link and to create a report using information in the event log. In response to the analyzer detecting a user-initiated service mode indication in the information the analyzer includes in the report additional information relating to the user-initiated service mode to facilitate events in the report to be ignored.

Abstract: An apparatus for managing connections of a hub-based federation system. The apparatus includes a user interface for receiving input from a user and a logic component for generating a checklist of action items based on the user input. The partition information specifies a division of a local area into a plurality of sub-areas with each of the plurality of sub-areas having equipment. The partition information is uploaded to a user and one or more sub-areas are selected. Operational information concerning a plurality of devices contained in the selected sub-area is uploaded relating to the operation or the interconnection of the devices. The uploaded information is presented to the user in a way that facilitates an understanding of a structure of the network. After the information is analyzed, a network modification is selected, and at least one DTM-compliant software instance that implements the network modification is created.

Abstract: A method and apparatus providing an indication of data consumption by an application, which is executable on an electronic device and operable to consume data, via a network, from at least one remote content provider server. The method includes: providing, on the electronic device, an iconic representation for the application, the iconic representation having an indication of previous data consumption by the application from the at least one remote content provider server during previous execution of the application; executing the application in response to selection of the iconic representation; receiving, from the network, data representative of new data consumption with the at least one remote content provider server during the execution of the application; and providing an updated iconic representation for the application.

Abstract: A system for presenting and controlling content on a display device includes a network, a server system coupled to the network and comprising one or more servers, a display device coupled to the network and having a display, and a personal computing device operable to transmit a first message according to a specified format over the network to the server system. The server system stores an association between the personal computing device and the display device. The first message identifies user-selected content and a media player to play the content. The server system is operable, in response to receiving the first message from the personal computing device, to provide to the display device a second message identifying the user-selected content and the media player to play the content. In response to receiving the second message, the display device is operable to obtain a first media player needed to play the content, to load the media player and to present the content on the display.

Abstract: Techniques promote monitoring of hypervisor systems by presenting dynamic representations of hypervisor architectures that include performance indicators. A reviewer can interact with the representation to progressively view select lower-level performance indicators. Higher level performance indicators can be determined based on tower level state assessments. A reviewer can also view historical performance metrics and indicators, which can aid in understanding which configuration changes or system usages may have led to sub-optimal performance.

Abstract: Embodiments which utilize a topology view GUI with elements in each of storage and general network views which indicate the connection to the alternate network via an icon. Properly selecting the icon causes the topology view of the other network to appear. This method allows the connections between the networks to be readily viewed without cluttering either topology and allows quick context changes to occur at the same point.

Abstract: A system monitors performance in a network that includes several network resources. The system obtains a list of targets in the network. The targets include selected ones of the resources. The system sends a request to the targets, receives responses from the targets, and determines a status of the targets based on the received responses or a lack of responses from the targets. The system then analyzes the status of the targets to determine compliance with the service-level guarantee.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for wireless network monitoring. Some particular features of various embodiments include notification via mobile phones (or other wireless devices) of outages in the wireless environment, an automated incident log, a web page to enter the resolution of an outage, a contact list containing personnel who could potential be contacted during an outage, and pop up messages that occur when an outage is detected.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for indicating unavailability of an uploaded video file that is being bitrate encoded. For instance, upon a determination that the uploaded video file is being bitrate encoded, a graphical user interface may be provided that includes an interface element indicating that the uploaded video file is unavailable for processing except for the bitrate encoding. The interface element may be an icon, a textual message, or any other suitable interface element that is capable of indicating that the uploaded video file that is being bitrate encoded is unavailable. When the bitrate encoding is completed, the interface element may be automatically updated to indicate that the uploaded video file is available for processing.

Abstract: Defining and applying policies to manage data traffic including data transmitted and/or received by each of a plurality of applications executing on a computing device. The data traffic is monitored per application and attributes are defined for the monitored data traffic to enable the user to evaluate the data traffic for each application. Usage patterns are determined based on the monitored data traffic and the attributes to create one or more policies. The policies are applied to prevent each application from exceeding a corresponding data usage limit defined by the policies.

Abstract: Network service provisioning is described. Network service provisioning to a device includes a mechanism for ensuring that network services are available based upon one or more of appropriate traffic control, billing, and notification policies. Ensuring that the policies are properly enforced on a device is a focus of this paper. The enforcement policies can be on the device or in the network.

Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for providing information about operational data from a plurality of building systems and service and maintenance information for a plurality of building sites. A customer web portal is provided with a database for storing the operational data and the service information allowing users to more readily generate reports and obtain service related information for a plurality of sites without having to maintain separate database systems at remote locations.

Abstract: An on-line social graph that allows users to establish an account with the system and establish connections to nodes in the system. The social graph uses system-provided nodes that are created and maintained by the system, so that users cannot edit the system-provided nodes. The user is allowed to select entities and the system will process and display useful information regarding the relationship of the entities to the user or other nodes. Entities can be organizations, persons, locations, or other. In an implementation, the system allows the user to gain connections to system-provided nodes.

The autodetection module automatically detects at least one of a network, a television cable, and a plurality of inputs connected to the digital device, and populates a connections list in a second panel including the result of the automatic detection. The contextual help module displays at least one of texts, images and animations in a first panel that help the user understand the steps of the initial setup. The advertisement module displays advertisements in the first panel when the digital device is loading. The digital device may be loading at least when the autodetection module is automatically detecting or when the contextual help module is loading the at least one of texts, images and animations to be displayed.

A priority/filter type selection processing unit (37) of a network interconnection device (11), which connects a local network (14) and a wide area network (10), selects a transmission data selection processing unit (38) on the basis of the priority level definitions of a transmission data in accordance with an event status, and a data compression method in association with the event status and the wide area network communication status, and selects and controls a filtering processing unit (33). As a consequence, the communication bandwidth in a wide area network is reduced.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided that is stored on computer readable non-transitory media. One or more data fields are accessed within a file. Accessed data field, are mapped mapping on a display computer system. The accessed one or more data fields are from one or more data sources that relate to alerts from clustering messages received from managed infrastructure. The mapping being performed based on a input of the alert summaries using a graphical user interface. Displayed on the display computer system are one or more dashboards of alerts relative to summaries from clustering messages received from managed infrastructure. The one or more dashboards include at least one of actions that a user can take relative to clustered messages.

The first policy comprises a plurality of actions to be performed in response to the first incident. The method also includes creating at least one virtual talk group comprising a plurality of endpoints of different communication networks communicating using a respective communication protocol. The method further includes monitoring a plurality of events via a plurality of sources. At least one source comprises an endpoint from the plurality of endpoints of the virtual talk group. The method additionally includes detecting a deviation event and storing information indicative of the deviation event.

Abstract: An interactive tool is disclosed for visualizing performance data in real-time to enable adaptive performance optimization for an application running on a massively parallel computer system. The interactive tool may be used to visualize network congestion (and other) performance counters for an application as it runs on the parallel system in real-time. Further, a developer may use the interactive tool to experiment with various tuning options and optimization approaches on-the-fly.

Abstract: A management system stores tier relationship information of operational items that configure an operational flow, the execution sequence information, and the operational item type information that indicates whether an operational item that is a lower end of a tier of the operational flow is an automated operational item or a manual execution operational item in the process of an automated work of a computer. The management system determines whether an operational item of a tier that is upper than a tier of the lowest level includes only the automated operational item, only the manual execution operational item, or both for all tiers of the lower level based on the operational item type information and the tier relationship information. The management system controls a display of an icon that indicates a plurality of operational items for the predetermined tier of the operational flow based on the result of the determination.

The network visualization system may include a monitoring server that discovers devices in a client network, and a client application including a discovery controller and a rendering unit. The discovery controller may receive a list of discovered devices that were discovered by the monitoring server, and the rendering unit may render the discovered devices using DirectX.

Abstract: A set of data is obtained, representing a graph of a computer network having a set of hardware nodes and a set of hardware links between the hardware nodes. The hardware links are represented as edges in the graph. A first subset (for example, a vertex cut set) of the set of hardware nodes is found, such that those of the hardware nodes in the first subset are able to withstand a maximum number of failures before the graph disconnects. The failures include node failures and/or edge failures. The hardware nodes in the first subset are ranked based on expected resiliency, to obtain a ranked list. Optionally, in case of a tie between two or more of the hardware nodes in the ranked list, the tie is broken using a sum of shortest path metric.

Abstract: Machine-implemented methods for troubleshooting a web site analytics configuration are provided. In one aspect, a method includes acquiring low latency web site traffic data for a web page for a web site, and comparing the low latency web site traffic data with historical web site traffic data for the web page. The method also includes determining a difference between the low latency web site traffic data and the historical web site traffic data based on the comparison, and sending information on the difference between the low latency web site traffic data and the historical web site traffic data. Systems, graphical user interfaces, and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A network-management device includes a map storing unit and a map state storing unit. The map storing unit stores therein a map created based on information on network devices. The map state storing unit stores therein a creation state indicating that creation of the map is in process or completed in association with the map. When creation of the map is in process, disclosure of the map is prohibited, and all the network devices are notified that creation of the map is in process. When creation of the map is completed, it is checked whether all the network devices are laid out on the map. When all the network devices are laid out on the map, disclosure of the map is permitted.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method to display a visual representation of subblock utilization in an address block is provided. A plurality of subblock sizes in the address block are determined. A subblock may be referred to as a subnet or subblock but is a portion of the addresses in the address block. The size for the subblocks is determined for each of the subblocks based on which address spaces have been assigned to each of the subblocks. Also, a positioning within the address block is determined based on which address space has been assigned to each of the subblocks. A utilization for the plurality of subblocks is then determined. The utilization may be a determination based on how many addresses have been leased in the subblock. A visual representation is then generated that shows the size of the subblocks relative to each other and also showing a utilization measurement for the subblocks.

Abstract: A method and apparatus (e.g., network test instrument) for presenting network device diagnostic information in which a listing of network devices discovered via a first network connection (e.g., wirelessly—802.11) to a test network is presented in a GUI of a network diagnostic instrument. Acquired network diagnostic information for a network device selected from the listing of network devices is then presented in the GUI wherein the presented network diagnostic information is acquired via the first network connection (e.g., wirelessly—802.11). Indication (and a link thereto) is provided in the GUI indicating network diagnostic information for the selected network device was also acquired via a second network connection to the test network (e.g., via a wired connection—802.3).

Abstract: A method for displaying storage network information in a user interface. The method includes identifying a topology map for a storage network and gathering operating information, which is processed to determine a performance parameter, such as utilization. A performance monitoring display is generated including a topology map and a graphical representation of the performance parameter, which is positioned in the display relative to the components for which the parameter applies. The graphical representation can be a pair of parallel dashed lines between communicating components. The dashes in the lines are moved using a speed coding scheme representative of the performance parameter, e.g., with faster speeds used to show higher ranges of utilization, and the direction of movement matches data flow. The dashed lines are colored using a color coding scheme and the line segment lengths vary in association with the performance value.

Abstract: An enterprise network may be managed. A graphical user interface (GUI) that shows IP address allocations for the network and that allows a user to configure DHCP scopes and DNS zones may be provided. A new host reservation request may be received from a user. The request may be translated into a first protocol and provided to a DHCP control server for processing. Based on the processing, configurations of multiple DHCP servers may be updated, to include the new host reservation, and provided to a configuration storage system for (at least temporary) storage and access by the multiple DHCP servers. The request may be translated into a second protocol and provided to a DNS management server for processing. Based on the processing, a configuration for a DNS server may be updated, to include the new host reservation, and stored in a DNS database.

A group of objects that are associated with different types of communication system components in a representation of a communication system are configured in a group. A further representation of the objects of the group is provided, and includes an indication of component operational status for one or more communication system components respectively associated with one or more of the objects of the group. The further representation of the objects of the group may also or instead provide access to the objects of the group, so that information associated with the objects may be more easily displayed, for example. The communication system representation and the group representation are provided in a Graphical User Interface (GUI) in some embodiments.

Abstract: A system and technique for visualizing changes and trends in performance data over a network path are disclosed. More specifically, a network management system generates and displays an object that represents data for one or more performance characteristics related to a plurality of network nodes in the network path. The object is dynamically updated to include updated data related to the one or more performance characteristics. In one embodiment, a representation of the updated data is superimposed over representations of previously collected data relating to the performance characteristics. The transparency of the representations associated with the previously collected data may reflect a difference in time between the current time and the time at which the data was collected. In another embodiment, a timeline is included in the object that tracks the state of the object at one or more previous points in time.

Abstract: An electronic device includes: a communication unit to connect to a different device on a network, the different device storing contents; an output unit to connect to a display apparatus; a control unit; an operation input unit; and a reproduction unit. The control unit searches for contents stored in the different device on the network, generates a list of thumbnail images indicating the searched contents, estimates an error rate when each of the contents is received and reproduced, and outputs the list to the display apparatus, the control unit changing a state of each of the thumbnail images in the list according to the estimated error rate. The operation input unit receives reproduction instruction operation with respect to the content indicated by each of the thumbnail images. The reproduction unit receives the content, which is subjected to the reproduction instruction operation, from the different device, and reproduce the content.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine readable and executable instructions are provided for cross-domain business service management. Cross-domain business service management can include receiving event indications from domains. The event indications can be standardized into standardized event indications independent of domain manager or domain-specific syntax. The standardized event indications can be aggregated into aggregated event indications. A number of domain-specific descriptive semantic attributes of the aggregated event indications can be runtime analyzed. The aggregated event indications can be mapped to respective health indicators based on the runtime analysis, where each of the respective health indicators represents a health aspect of one of the domains. The respective health indicators can be displayed on a user interface.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a request for network topology information for a network. The request includes an identifier for a requesting entity and an identifier for the network. The method also includes accessing network topology information for the network based on the identifier for the network. The network topology information identifies a plurality of network elements in the network and defines a relationship between the network elements. A diagrammatic view of the network topology is determined based on the network topology information for the network. The method includes determining one or more aspects of at least one network element based on the identifier for the requesting entity.
