Abstract: Control planes of virtual resource providers may be customized in a secure, stable and efficient manner with virtual control planes. Control planes may be modularized. Control plane modules may be supplied with data from standardized sensors, and required to generate standardized resource configuration requests responsive to solicitations with specified response latencies. Custom control plane modules may be selected to replace or complement default control plane modules. Financial and computational costs associated with control plane modules may be tracked. Competing resource configurations may be mediated by a control plane supervisor. Such mediation may be based on control plane module reputation scores. Reputation scores may be based on customer feedback ratings and/or measured performance with respect to module goals. Mediated configuration parameter values may be based on a combination of competing configuration parameter values weighted according to reputation.

Assignments of an access control requirement to the resource visual representation and an attribute to the entity visual representation are received. A movement in the display of the entity visual representation to a position proximate to a boundary of the resource visual representation is detected. The attribute assigned to the entity visual representation is determined to satisfy the access control requirement assigned to the resource visual representation. The entity is permitted to access the resource based on the attribute satisfying the access control requirement. A movement in the display of the entity visual representation across the boundary and a placement of the entity visual representation within the boundary of the resource visual representation are permitted based on the entity being permitted to access the resource.

Abstract: In one aspect, there is provided a method. The method may include monitoring a process including a plurality of user interfaces, at least one of the user interfaces representing a notification of a task to be completed and at least another user interface representing information associated with an action corresponding to the notification; determining whether at least a portion of the process is a candidate for adaptation; and adapting the process by combining a first portion of the at least one of the user interface representing the notification of the task and a second portion of the at least other user interface representing the information associated with the action. Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein include systems and methods that provide a workflow-based session manager or workflow engine for a content delivery system, such as for delivering video-on-demand, streaming audio, streaming video, etc. Such techniques increase velocity and flexibility of deploying new features and services in a video delivery system. Techniques include a session management model provides a service-oriented and workflow-based approach. As a service-oriented approach, each functional session management step can be represented as a business service. As a workflow-based solution, a sequence of steps to be performed can be defined as data, rather than being hard-coded inside an application. Defined as data, steps (nodes, tasks) can then be created and changed using a graphical editor. New services can be added by defining actions for the new service, and adding a node to a given session management workflow sequence. Techniques include a workflow engine that initiates session management in realtime.

Abstract: In a synchronization system, the present invention provides an improved user interface through which a user can view and manage settings associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In the preferred embodiment, a column is displayed for each electronic device associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In each column is a visual representation of items (e.g., folders) that are (1) backed up, remotely accessible and/or synchronized in the synchronization system and (2) located on the electronic device associated with such column. For each item that is synchronized across multiple devices, all the visual representations of such item in the columns are aligned across a single row in the interface. In the preferred embodiment, there is an arrow, or other visual indicator, between the visual representations of such items to indicate that the items are synchronized.

Each of the views has graphical partition elements corresponding to at least some of the partitions nested with graphic server elements corresponding to at least some of the hardware servers. At least some of the graphical partition elements include links that, when activated, cause the graphical representation to switch to another of its views in which is highlighted a graphical partition element that was not highlighted in the previous view.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided in which a digital image is transmitted to a presentation projector resource over a wireless transmission medium using a reduced amount of bandwidth by transmitting a subset of the digital image data. The subset of image data may be a delta subset that represents those areas of the image that have changed since the previous transmission. The subset image data may also be a scalable vector graphics representation of the subset of the digital image. A projector discovery logic selects a suitable projector resource based on the order or signal strength of the discovery replies. A wireless image transmission session is established with the selected projector resource during which the projector is unavailable to other devices. The subset image data may be compressed and transmission coordinated with the projector resource so that the data is sent only when it is ready to be received.

Abstract: A device receives, from a user, a selection of a geographic region associated with a service provider network. The device generates a map of the geographic region, where the map includes notations of residential and business addresses, service provider network information, and addresses that purportedly are not accessible to the service provider network that potentially are actually accessible to the service provider network. The device presents the map to the user and receives, from the user, an indication that certain of the address that purportedly are not accessible to the service provider network have been determined to actually be accessible to the service provider network, or have been determined to not be accessible to the service provider network. The device revises the service provider network information based on the validation of the one or more addresses.

A notification is presented that indicates the nature of the problem, and a way to access an automatically configured isolated environment via which to continue working. The user can be automatically routed to use the alternative isolated environment for temporary access to network resources. Once the user finishes activities in the isolated environment, the system hosting the isolated environment is reverted back to a known good state.

According to one embodiment of the invention, a bandwidth reservation component in a network service manager server receives a change to a service version in a service family. The bandwidth reservation component determines that the change would affect a reserved bandwidth on at least one of the network links of the service version. The bandwidth reservation component analyzes whether to accept the change based on how the change would affect the reserved bandwidth. The bandwidth reservation component changes on each of the network links the reserved bandwidth according to the change if the change is accepted.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of creating an ad-hoc connection between two electronic devices. In order to enable a particularly user-friendly creation of such a connection, it is proposed that a first device detects a hugging state between the first device and a second device, in which the first device and the second device are in close vicinity and a piece of information is received at the first device directly from the second device. In case a hugging state is detected, a handle is obtained proceeding from the received piece of information. The handle comprises an address of some device other than the first device. Finally, a communication channel is established between the first device and the other device using the address included in the handle. Abstract: In one aspect of the present description, in response to receiving a request from a system administrator or other user of a distributed computing system for a log report generated by the system, the system can remotely access various nodes of the system and obtain the log reports at those nodes in response to that user request. At least one objective measurement is obtained from the received packetized voice communication. User perceived quality of voice data is derived from the at least one objective measurement. The user perceived quality of voice data is provided to a user. The steps of receiving, obtaining, deriving, and providing are performed in real-time.
