Abstract: A system and technique for displaying a document's workflow history are disclosed. The system includes a graphical user interface for displaying one or more graphical representations of events generated by an application configured to edit a document. Each of the events generated by the application may be stored in a data structure that is associated with one or more portions of the document. The data structure may also be associated with a digital image that reflects the state of the document at the time the event was generated and one or more frames of digital video captured substantially simultaneously with the generation of the event. The system may display the stored events via graphical representations in the graphical user interface that represent a portion of the total document workflow history. A user may navigate through the graphical events based on a hierarchical algorithm for clustering events.

Abstract: A system and method for improving drilling efficiency using drilling efficiency reference from a previously drilled offset well. In one embodiment a method for drilling a borehole includes displaying a graphical representation of drilling efficiency for a previously drilled wellbore. A graphical representation of drilling efficiency for the borehole is also displayed. The displayed drilling efficiency for the previously drilled wellbore is compared to the displayed drilling efficiency for the borehole. Responsive to the comparing, the drilling efficiency for the borehole is adjusted by changing a parameter affecting the drilling of the borehole.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for visualizing a visitor's activity in a community such as a cafe, homepage, blog, miniroom, or mini-homepage, and the like, which are established in web sites on the Internet. The method includes the steps of: a) by a visitor, accessing the community and selecting a community activity visualizing item prepared in the community; b) by the visitor, selecting one of a plurality of blocks forming an image of the community activity visualizing item; c) by the visitor, leaving a visitor log in a text input window corresponding to the selected block; and d) storing data in which the visit log is recorded and updating the community activity visualizing item.

The storage component has stored operation explanation data, relationship explanation data, and setting layout display data stored therein. The stored operation explanation data defines operations of functions executed in the air conditioner. The relationship explanation data defines relationships between explanations of operations of functions and values that are set. The setting display layout data includes setting display region data and explanation display region data. The control component is configured to cause the set numeric data that the data receiving component has received to be displayed in a setting display region while causing the operation explanation data and the relationship explanation data to be displayed in an explanation display region in accordance with the setting display layout data.

Abstract: Systems and methods enable displaying a graphical representation of system resource usage in a resource utilization map to inform users about system resource utilization by applications and processes running on a computing device. Users may provide inputs to enable the system to adjust resource allocations based on user preferences. This may enable users to improve the overall operational performance of the device consistent with their current personal preferences by identifying applications or processes of most or least interest so the device processor to prioritize system resources accordingly. Some aspects transmit resource allocation data based on such user input to a central server to enable community based resource allocation schemes. Community based resource allocation schemes may be transmitted to computing devices for use as default or preliminary resource allocations for particular applications, websites or device operating states.

Abstract: A method and user interface for informing a user of the status of a network connection are provided. Conventionally, the “connected” icon in the system tray only informs the user that the computer is linked to a network medium, such as an Ethernet or wireless access point. This icon does not indicate whether a routable IP address has been obtained. In this invention, an icon is used to inform the user that the network connection is disabled, connecting, connected (routable IP address obtained), or in a warning state. The warning state indicates that a non-routable IP address (e.g. autonet address) has been obtained, which will likely be unsatisfactory to the user. However, when connected to an 802.11 ad-hoc network, or when IP status checking is disabled, a non-routable IP address is deemed acceptable, and thus the “connected” icon is displayed.

Abstract: There is provided a method of representing new email messages on a communication device having a display. This method comprises setting a new message flag when an email message is received by the device; and displaying a new message indicator on the display when the new message flag is set. The new message indicator can be displayed on a home screen on the display. The new message flag can be unset when a messages screen is selected on the device. A computer readable memory having recorded thereon instructions to carry out this method is also provided, as well as a device comprising such memory.

The report slider includes a sliding module in a first position, The method detects a first movement of a sliding module on the report slider from the first to second position, and generates a first sub-report for a first line item of the first plurality of line items and a second sub-report for a second line item of the first plurality of line items based on the second position of the sliding module. The first line item and the second line item are selected in the report. The first sub-report and the second sub-report display financial data are at a second level of granularity. The method displays the first sub-report and the second sub-report with the report.

Abstract: The invention described herein provides a load engine and method for efficiently accomplishing mass conversions of customer data into an existing customer database. In particular, the method incorporates existing business rules for validating new customer data and for creating tables for the new customer data, creates load files for the new customer data, and provides a means for running multi-threaded data loads of the new customer data tables onto an existing customer database. The disclosure further provides a method for gathering data regarding the status of a data load or conversion and creating a user interface for tracking the progress of a specific data load.

Abstract: An alarm trend summary display system and method can utilize an alarm trend list that works together with an alarm summary list. A set of rows in the alarm trend list can be organized in a top-to-bottom manner. A set of alarm indicators within each row in the alarm trend list can be arranged in a right-to-left horizontal arrangement. The set of alarm indicators can be aligned with most recent alarms appearing on a right side of the alarm trend list. The specific alarm indicators can be selected in the alarm trend list, so that a corresponding item can be highlighted in the alarm summary list, if the alarms are active. Hence, the system and method can allow an operator to see when alarms occur, their sequence, relations and priority, which aid the operators cope with inevitable alarm floods.

The method further includes generating a graphical display identifying the superstructure for presentation on a display. Active and inactive simulated processing elements have different indicia in the graphical display, and active and inactive flow streams have different indicia in the graphical display.

Abstract: The invention provides for a controller such as a thermostat for an HVAC system comprising a housing having a circuit board and a display screen, the display screen having at least one alpha-numeric icon and a group of input control areas. A microprocessor is provided for controlling the display screen. Buttons are pressed in order to program set-points of the thermostat so that seven days may be programmed simultaneously. The display includes a seven day icon so that the user can program the thermostat set-points rapidly (e.g. setting time and temperature settings with minimal steps).

Abstract: Methods and systems for integrating manufacturing equipment with factory automation software. In one embodiment, an equipment integrator (EI) has a user interface to facilitate user input of configuration information to provide an adaptable interface between a manufacturing tool and a manufacturing execution system (MES) that is operable over a plurality of manufacturing tools. The user configurable interface of the EI is adaptable so that tool-independent MES data collection requests may be satisfied by tool-specific data publication through the EI. In a further embodiment, data collected by the EI from a particular manufacturing tool is mapped to the MES without tool-specific interface coding. During processing, the configurable EI may fill a request from the MES for manufacturing data by collecting a data from the manufacturing tool, identifying data based on the configuration information and returning data satisfying a data keying criterion defined in the MES.

An SNMP management station or similar program provides a user with an interface for viewing and managing data and resources through SNMP. The management station provides an interface and set of functions for the configuration of methods for processing and displaying the tabular data. The SNMP management station provides a set of functions including: summation, maximums, minimums, averaging, threshold checks, value comparisons and similar functions that can be applied to the tabular data and used to generate a result or indicator in a management report.

The method further includes superimposing the shape over the range of days in the calendar view. Finally, the method includes scheduling at least one event for each block of time determined for each of the days in the range upon which a portion of the shape has been superimposed.

Abstract: Techniques for meta-directory control and evaluation of events are provided. Disparate events from heterogeneous processing environments are collected as the events are produced by resources within the processing environments. The events are filtered and organized into taxonomies. Next the filtered and organized events are assigned to nodes of a Meta directory, each node defining a relationship between two or more of the resources and policy is applied. Finally, additional policy is evaluated in view of the events and their node assignments with other events, and one or more automated actions are then taken.

Abstract: An insulin pump configuration programming approach is disclosed that permits setting parameters of pump configuration files to invalid values. An operator may continue with the programming workflow after setting the invalid value. The configuration file including the invalid value may be saved to a memory location of a computing device, but cannot be saved to the pump. Invalid item icons are presented when a parameter is set to an invalid value, and instructions for correcting the invalidity condition are provided when an invalid item icon is hovered over using a pointing device.

Abstract: The disclosure describes improved systems and methods for displaying a trend history of the patient condition using pictorial representations that dynamically change as the clinician advances and reverses through an independent parameter. The present application displays changes in patient condition as a pictorial instead of a number or waveform. By displaying changes in patient condition in a pictorial, a clinician may be able to quickly understand how the dependent parameters have changed as a function of an independent parameter. As the pictorial changes, it animates from one condition to the next to more effectively indicate changes in patient condition. A representation of the normal or desired condition for a parameter is shown as a static pictorial that is overlaid with the dynamically changing trend. In this manner the clinician can determine how the patient condition is changing relative to a desired state.

Online and offline activities of users are associated with symbolic representations of those users. In an embodiment, the symbolic representation of a user has the appearance of a dust particle. The dust particle can provide a universal and unobtrusive visual representation of the online or offline activity of the represented user. Further, the dust particle can exist for the represented user to communicate with other users with privacy and anonymity. To visually convey selected aspects of an online or offline activity, the activity is mapped to visual attributes that alter the dust particle behavior and/or appearance.
