Abstract: An innovation management system and method are provided that automate a workflow through various stages, including identification of an innovation; collection of data about the innovation; assessment of the innovation; decision-making about whether/how to protect the innovation; submission of appropriate materials to obtain protection; and reassessment of the innovation after protection is in place. The system may prompt an innovator to establish an initial link between an innovation and an aspect of the business, such as a specific product line. The system may also facilitate assessment and reassessment of the innovation by prompting users to evaluate and modify the link between the innovation and the aspect of the business. The system may also generate customizable reports demonstrating a strength of the links between various innovations and various aspects of the business and/or product lines.

Abstract: An acquisition unit acquires, via a communication unit, presence information including status information indicating the status of execution of an application from a separate information processing device. A status image generation unit refers to the status information and determines a display mode for presenting the status of execution of the application to a user. The status image generation unit determines a display mode of a mark to indicate whether the user can participate in a session of an application.

Abstract: A user-specified personal point of reference provides a basis of orientation information for a geographic location. The orientation information associated with a geographic location is relative to the one or more user-specified personal points of reference. A personal point of reference can be specific to a user and can be shared by two or more users. Orientation information can comprise one or more display indicators, such as and without limitation one or more visual indicators, textual indicators, etc. Orientation information can comprise at least one indicator of distance, and can include other indicators, such as without limitation indicators of direction and/or travel time. The one or more visual or display indicators can be provided in a user interface display in response to a search request by a user.

Abstract: In a user interface for editing electronic documents, the display of a progress meter may be delayed for long running tasks (such as the loading of an electronic document into a web browser). The user interface may include a control surface and a browser window for displaying electronic documents. A request to load an electronic document may be received in the browser window. The electronic document may then begin loading for display in the browser window. During the initial loading of the electronic document, a loading indicator may be displayed in the browser window. After a predetermined delay and while the document is still being loaded, the loading indicator may be replaced with a progress meter indicating a current loading percentage of the electronic document. The progress meter may be periodically updated during the remainder of the loading process until the entire electronic document has finished loading into the browser window.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods to visualize measuring and dosing operations are described herein. In various embodiments, a computer user interface including a gauge bar, a progress bar, and a target value in combination with a weighing device may be used to measure and dose elements. In one embodiment the method ensures precise and fast dosing when weighing an element. In various embodiments, configuring a mapping function allows numerous combinations of a speed of progress of a progress bar when weighing an element. A progress bar, in combination with acceptable weight values, such as a target value, a primary minimum value, and a primary maximum value allows for color representation when a progress bar enters and exits acceptable weight values. Configuring a set or a plurality set of secondary minimum and maximum values is possible for additional acceptable weight values.

Abstract: An enterprise management technique is used to manage resolution or execution of a resolution. An infrastructure is selected as a given basis for an enterprise architecture, and a discrepancy, problem, need, goal or other task is identified as a resolution object, and a determination is made whether the resolution object has validity as a resolution object to be addressed by the organization. A minimum set of individuals or stakeholders is identified as a sub-group to address or execute the resolution object based at least in part on the selection. A measurement characteristic is identified and a protocol for approval of the selection is followed. The progress of the sub-group in the addressing or execution of the resolution object is monitored by monitoring the measurement characteristic.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of systems and methods that may be utilized in a variety of videoconferencing applications. According to various embodiments, techniques may be utilized to dynamically allocate and adjust bandwidth utilization during a videoconferencing session. A data network may allow for the transmission of data between two or more endpoints. The data exchanged between the endpoints may include video data, audio data, control data, and status data. Control data may be utilized in various embodiments to operate a robotic videoconferencing endpoint. Accordingly, various components of a data network connecting videoconferencing endpoints may transmit data wirelessly.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method for providing training through incorporation of metaphorical expressions are provided. A method includes receiving selected user preferences via a computer. The method also includes displaying a story board based on the selected user preferences, where the display shows text and images and the computer simultaneously plays vocals. Further, the method includes prompting the user to perform a task. Where the user successfully completes the task, the method includes taking the user to a next task. If the user does not successfully complete the task, the method includes repeating the story board and prompting the user to attempt the task again until the task is successfully completed.

Abstract: A method and system for updating a plug-in in a device in Internet Protocol TeleVision (IPTV) system are provided. The method includes determining a second plug-in group selected from among a first plug-in group to be updated according to status information of each plug-in indicated in the first plug-in group in the device; and updating each plug-indicated in the determined second plug-in group.

Abstract: A computer system includes a number of input devices, a storage unit storing a plurality of modules, and a processing unit to execute the plurality of modules. The plurality of modules includes instructions executable by the processing unit to switch the operation mode of the computer system from a normal mode to a children mode when a mode switching command has been received. In the normal mode, the processing unit executes the number of the modules to determine which of applications of the computer system is subject to disablement and which of all the input devices is subject to disablement in the children mode, and regard any operation command on any application subject to disablement as an invalid operation command and any user operation on any input device subject to disablement as an invalid user operation when in the children mode. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method of measuring CPU utilization. The method may include: executing at least one task on a multi-processing system having at least two processors; determining that a task is blocked because a resource is unavailable; starting a first timer for the task that measures the time the task is blocked; determining that the resource is available; resuming processing the task; stopping the first timer for the task; and storing the time interval that the task was blocked. The method may determine that a task is blocked when the task requires access to a resource, and a semaphore indicates that the resource is in use. The method may also include measuring the utilization time of each task, an idle time for each processor, and an interrupt request time for each processor. Various exemplary embodiments relate the above method encoded as instructions on a machine-readable medium.

The tool comprises a storage means for storing the analysis information generated or acquired during progress of an analysis project, wherein the analysis information is in the form of a plurality of graphical representations. Each graphical representation denotes a plurality of entities under analysis and the plurality of graphical representations comprises at least one representation of a first kind and at least one representation of a second kind. Input means is provided to allow a user to generate each graphical representation using a first or second predetermined structure according to its kind, said graphical representations being arranged for storage as a plurality of graphical representation files in the storage means.

Abstract: A user interface display for software has a user satisfaction portion displayed on each page. The user satisfaction portion includes a user selectable element which allows a user to provide a user satisfaction score (or level) with a single mouse click. In response to receiving the user satisfaction level, the context of the software which the user is using is recorded, and the user satisfaction level is correlated to that context. The captured data can be provided to application designers and developers directly or via computed metrics.

Abstract: A visualization system that generates customized visualization(s) in an industrial automation environment includes an interface component that receives input concerning displayed objects and information, a context component that can detect, infer or determine context information regarding an entity, and a visualization component that dynamically generates a visualization from a set of display object to present to the entity that is a function of the received information and inferred or determined entity context.

Abstract: A method for evaluating the requirements of a task with the capabilities of an entity includes generating a first visual representation, creating a mask based on the first visual representation, applying the mask to a second visual representation, and generating a third visual representation conveying which task requirements the entity is capable of satisfying. Abstract: An information retrieval system is provided for processing queries for video content. A server receives a query for video content and returns video articles, as received from broadcast systems or other content providers. Queries are formulated using text, video images, and/or visual content associated with a video article. Content data is associated with video article images and search queries are generated based on user selection of an image. The resulting set of video articles is ranked and a representation of each video article is displayed to the user. The user can play the video article either within the representation or independent of it.

Abstract: Technology is described for debugging in a multi-processor environment. An example system can include a plurality of process icons representing processes executing on compute nodes. A plurality of relationship arc icons between the process icons can represent messages being sent between source processes and destination processes on the compute nodes. A tabular display control can have rows to display attributes for relationship arc icons representing the messages being sent. In addition, a grouping module can be used to identify groups of messages that are related and to highlight relationship arc icons which are part of a group.

Abstract: A method and system for correlating, for at least one managed system, at least one monitored computer metric and a plurality of associated alerts, comprising selecting a monitored computer metric designated by a user, selecting a time scale designated by the user; and selecting a number of alerts associated with the monitored computer metric, the alert being designated by the user. The monitored computer metric and the number of alerts are correlated over the selected time period, and a graph of the correlated monitored computer metric superimposed with a number of alerts over the selected time period is transmitted for presentation to the user. The system includes a source computing device configured to execute a synchronization engine configured to synchronize media files on the source computing device with copies of the media files on a target computing device. In this manner, the user interface indicates to the user the current operational mode of the universal remote control.

Abstract: A method and system for monitoring a computer program window define an area of a computer program window and compute a hash value for the defined area. The computed hash value is stored and the hash value is recomputed for the defined area after a predetermined time period. The recomputed hash value is compared with the stored. If the stored hash value and the recomputed hash value are different, the method and system overwrite the stored hash value with the recomputed hash value, and generate a notification. Recomputing, comparing, overwriting and generating are performed periodically to monitor the changes in the defined area.

Abstract: Data records representing a time sequence of events are received, where time gaps between successive events vary. A first visualization having a sequence of graphical elements representing the corresponding events is generated, where the graphical elements do not overlay each other. A second visualization includes a time density track having gap representing elements, where the gap representing elements have different characteristics to represent different gaps between respective successive events.

Abstract: A method and system for time sheet messaging is presented. The method includes providing a time-sheet application for managing a plurality of projects, each project associated with at least one organizational unit. A graphical user interface is provided which includes a time-sheet information area for display and entry of time sheet data for a project, and a concurrently displayed message area for display of messages. An affiliation of a current user of the graphical user interface with an organizational unit is identified. A message intended for the current user is selected for display in the message area, based on the identified affiliation of the current user. A system and a computer program product are also presented.

Abstract: A system and method enables one or more storage volumes and associated devices on one or more storage appliances (filers) to be combined or consolidated into arbitrary groups so that statistical information related to performance, operational status and other usage-based parameters can be made available to interested parties associated with the group. The volumes can drawn from different storage appliances and grouped so as to allow administration and access by a common group of administrators or users. The statistical information can be compared to threshold values to generate events. The events can be e-mailed or otherwise transmitted to interested parties. The statistical information can also be organized and displayed in a variety of formats as a web page on a graphical user interface that resides on a management station and/or client display of an interested party.

The method includes determining a desired ordering of the one or more resource types within a hierarchy of types and filtering one or more details of the multiple resource components to create a customized view. Abstract: Systems and methods for improving the reception and delivery of an In-Trail Procedures (ITP) altitude change request. An example system located on board a host aircraft includes a communication component, a display device and a processor unit that is in signal communication with the communication component and the display device. The processor unit presents a user interface on the display device. The user interface includes a plurality of fields for receiving In-Trail Procedures (ITP) altitude change request information. The processor sends the ITP altitude change request information received within the plurality of fields to an Air Traffic Control (ATC) facility via the communication component. An ITP unit having a display receives an altitude selection and presents ITP altitude change request information if the received altitude selection is determined to be valid.

Abstract: Methods, systems and machine readable tangible storage media that provide a user interface to an application store. In one embodiment, an icon representing an application being transferred to a user device appears to fly across the display area during the download and installation of the application before landing on a dock or other program control area from which the application can subsequently be launched. The user device synchronizes the flight of the icon with the progress of the download and installation by tracking the progress in communication with the server from which the application was transferred. The appearance of flight can be both vertical and horizontal and the icon bounces after the download and installation is complete conveying to the user that the application is ready to launch. The appearances of the locations from which the icon begins and ends its journey are changed to enhance the simulation of flight. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: Synchronization of two or more items can be optimized through the use of parallel execution of synchronization tasks and adaptable processing that monitors and adjusts for system loading. Two or more synchronization tasks required to be performed for an item can, if not inherently serial in nature, be performed in parallel, optimizing synchronization of the item. Even if multiple synchronization tasks required for one item must be serially executed, e.g., download the item prior to translating the item, these synchronization tasks can be executed in parallel for different items, optimizing a download request involving two or more items. Moreover, multiple threads for one or more synchronization tasks can be concurrently executed when supportable by the current operating system resources. Rules can be established to ensure synchronization activity is not degraded by the overextension of system resources.

Abstract: A progress displaying system and the method thereof are provided. The system and the method thereof are applicable to mileage calculating devices. By generating progress displaying graphs during mileage calculations according to the moving speeds and completed percentages at different time points, and continuously showing progress displaying graphs until the completed percentage is completely fulfilled, the system and the method thereof can achieve the goal of vividly reflecting user's current status during the progress display.

Abstract: A method for enticing users to behave securely in a computing environment. For security related input, such as selection of password, a progress indicator is provided to the user. The progress indicator correlates to the level of security obtained by the user's entry, rather than to the completion of the task. The indicator follows a non-linear function that crosses zero security and maximum expected security for the task. The function starts at shallow slope, increases towards the middle, and then reverts to shallow slop towards the end of the task.

Abstract: A graphic user interface as well as related methods and logic for a DICOM transfer configuration are provided. For example, a first image object corresponding to an origin node is provided. A second image object corresponding to a destination node is provided. The second image object includes an indicator associated with a DICOM transfer. At least one link image object is between the first image object and the second image object. The link image object is indicative of a potential DICOM transfer. The first, second, and link image objects are displayed in a user interface. The potential DICOM transfer is operable to be configured via the user interface.

Abstract: In an application for controlling an event, there is an indicator of the remaining duration for the event provided by the application during the event substantially simultaneously to each of a plurality of computing devices over a network for each computing device to use in creating a countdown graphic for display on a graphical user interface (GUI). The application updates the indicator as the event progresses and instructs each computing device to update the countdown graphic when the indicator is updated. If the application receives a first value from a first user during the event and determines that the first value is a triggering value, the application adjusts the remaining duration for the event and updates the indicator accordingly. If the application receives a second value from a second user and in response may override the adjusting of the remaining duration for the event.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling the display of one or more drawers of a user interface. One or more displays may be provided, each of which may have a corresponding independently controllable drawer displayable therein. The drawers may be opened in response to a gesture input to display data, such as notification data, application data, contact data, calendar data, weather data, etc. the drawers may be opened and/or closed individually or collectively. For instance, a characteristic of the gesture (e.g., a location of the gesture) may determine which of the drawers are opened in response to the gesture input.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and computer program products are provided for modifying an order of processing of a task performed on a plurality of objects. A user selects a plurality of objects and a task to perform on the objects, and the initial order of processing of the objects is displayed to the user. The user may modify the initial order of processing to generate a modified order of processing while the task is performed on one of the objects. For example, a user may remove an object not yet processed from the order of processing. Performance of the task then continues on the remaining objects in the modified order of processing.

Abstract: A method and system for presenting workflow tracking information for approval workflows assigned to business objects is provided. The approval system receives from a user a request to display the workflow for a business object and a workflow that has been assigned to that business object. The current state of a workflow is defined by tracking information that may include a workflow approval status, an originator name of the business object, and multiple steps of the assigned workflow. Each step of a workflow may include a step name, a step approval status, approver tracking information, and optionally next steps. Each next step of the step is itself a step that may include additional next steps. The approval system may generate and display a tree-like representation of the current state of a workflow for a business object based on the tracking information.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a display device for working vehicle, which is adapted so that additional information can be displayed. In the invention, display indication marks of the two types can be interchangeably displayed on a common display screen of a limited area without reducing the sizes of the individual marks, so that neither a larger size of a display device nor a drop in the visibility of the indication marks is necessary. This enables the driver to control a working machine such as a construction machine and have additional information about the construction machine without any trouble in the driving.
