Abstract: A system and method is provided to assist a user in selecting, identifying, and handling email messages. A selection color module may provide for the display of color coding and selection highlighting. The selection color module may provide a secondary highlighting color to indicate messages related to a selected message. A category navigation module may provide one or more of the following: an indicator that provides the user with a number of items that are off the screen for a particular category, a command that causes the first entry for a category to be scrolled into view, a label to indicate the number of items in a particular category matching a particular criteria, and/or a control for scrolling between next or previous categories.

Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to display process control information are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving in a processor a first status of a first mode element, the first mode element indicating a current operating condition of an object of a process control device, receiving in the processor a second status of a second mode element, the second mode element indicating a desired operating condition of the object of the process control device, determining a mode of the object based on the first status and the second status, the mode indicating a condition of the object of the process control device, and displaying the mode of the object of the process control device within a user interface as a graphic.

Abstract: Approaches are provided for workflow creation and management at a scanning device. In one approach, a user initiates a plurality of operations to be performed on, or relative to, scanned document data. A workflow that represents the sequence of operations is created. The workflow may be created with or without user input. The workflow is later provided as an option to a user. Upon selection of the option, the sequence of operations is performed without requiring the user to select each operation separately. In a related approach, a user is also allowed to create a workflow by selecting graphical representations of operations and causing the graphical representations to be arranged in a particular order to create a workflow that may be later selected.

Abstract: A Swimlane Timeline Application for task data visualization utilizes a Microsoft Visio Application Programming Interface (API) to visualize task data. The task data includes one or more of: task name, task outline number, task start date, and/or task finish date. The application solicits, interprets, and visualizes the data by either mapping the user selected top-level outline number “n” as the parent task that defines the timeline and title, the “n.n” child tasks to swimlane rows, and the “n.n.n . . . ” lower level tasks to intervals and milestones within the swimlanes, or by utilizing the user selected group-by field to determine swimlanes, the user selected filter-by fields to determine timeline start and finish dates, and the user selected sort-by fields to determine task ordering. Task analysis and reporting are enhanced with features including task drill-in, task filter-by-value, task resource views, task date markers, swimlane timeline pagination, and other user visualization preferences.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the organization, management, and graphical display of multiple logically related entities. In some embodiments, the systems and methods provide the real-time display of status and location information for a fleet of tracked vehicles. In some embodiments, the systems and methods permit the automatic clustering of assets based on a user's view of an underlying map. In some embodiments, the assets are vehicles that are a part of a managed fleet. In some embodiments, the assets are logically arranged into clusters of like assets. In some embodiments, the clusters provide graphical indications of status or class information of their underlying assets.

Abstract: An analysis and visualization depicts how an application is leveraging processor cores of a distributed computing system, such as a computer cluster, in time. The analysis and visualization enables a developer to readily identify the degree of concurrency exploited by an application at runtime and the amount of overhead used by libraries or middleware. Information regarding processes or threads running on the nodes over time is received, analyzed, and presented to indicate portions of computer cluster that are used by the application, idle, other processes, and libraries in the system. The analysis and visualization can help a developer understand or confirm contention for or under-utilization of system resources for the application and libraries.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method to generate a graphical representation of a social network. The computer program product includes a computer useable storage medium to store a computer readable program that, when executed on a computer, causes the computer to perform operations related to generating a graphical representation of a social network. The operations include an operation to display a first node and a second node in a social network. The operations also include an operation to display an actual quality indicator representative of an actual level of quality of a connection between the first and second nodes of the social network. The operations also include an operation to display a target quality indicator representative of a target level of quality of the connection between the first and second nodes of the social network.

Abstract: The display computer displays a management screen having a first area and a second area. In the first area, information related to a computer system, and an input object for a work operation that is a user operation for registering a task of a processing to a computer system into a management computer or an object for displaying the input object are displayed. In the second area, a summary view related to at least one task registered into the management computer is displayed. The summary view has a status object for each status of task, the status object includes an object indicating a status and a value indicating a number of tasks of the status. When the management computer detects a modification of a status of each task that has been registered, the display computer updates a value of a number of tasks in the second area.

Abstract: A method of protecting an electronic device's USB ports is provided. The method includes: determining whether an external device is connected to a USB port of the electronic device; determining which driver is for driving the external device connected to the USB port according to a primary ID of the external device; determining whether the external device is currently being driven by the driver; displaying an icon corresponding to the external device if the external device is not currently being driven by the driver; and running the driver to drive the external device when the icon is clicked. In one embodiment, a method for dynamic display of revision indicia in an information product generated by a publishing system includes determining that at least one element of a structured content has been revised; adding a time-stamp metadata to each element of the structured content; and rendering the structured content for publication, wherein rendering includes comparing the time-stamp metadata of each element with a baseline date; and if the time-stamp metadata indicates that a particular element has been revised subsequent to the baseline date, displaying a revision indicia at least proximate to each element in the information product.

Abstract: A method and system for highlighting a parameter image representative of a flight parameter of an aircraft to a user in a multi-parameter aircraft instrument display, such as a flat panel display. An electronic instrument display is configured to present parameter images, at least one of which includes a first indicator configured to indicate a specific value (e.g., a target value) for a flight parameter and a second indicator configured to indicate an actual flight parameter value that changes according to variations in the flight parameter. A graphics rendering controller is configured to generate the parameter images and to enlarge a portion of the parameter image when the actual flight parameter value is within a predetermined range from the target value.

The user device monitors network data usage for the data session and/or receives network data usage from a monitoring device associated with the network. The device stores and/or retrieves statistics for the network data usage associated with the particular application. The device further retrieves subscription plan information associated with the user device and presents, on a display, the statistics for the network data usage associated with the particular application and in relation to the subscription plan information associated with the user device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for optimizing multimedia content or a display of the media content in accordance with an optimal or ideal picture are disclosed. Different content versions that are optimized for different display devices can be remotely generated and transmitted to a receiver connected to the display device. In addition, sets of parameter display settings that are optimized for different display devices can be transmitted to the receiver to permit the display of an optimal picture for multimedia content. Moreover, a description or indication of display device parameters can be transmitted to a remote server for use in the generation of the different versions of content or different sets of parameter display settings.

Abstract: The present disclosure involves systems, software, and computer implemented methods for providing an indicator of a relative importance of a work item. One process includes operations for identifying at least one work item for determining a relative importance of the work item. A context of a user associated with the work item is determined, and a plurality of attributes of the work item are identified. At least one applicable rule is also identified from a set of rules specific to the user. A score for the work item is calculated based on an application of the at least one applicable rule to the context of the user and the plurality of attributes of the work item, the score representing the relative importance of the work item. An indicator of the relative importance of the work item is presented through a user interface.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed allow a user of an electronic device to obtain dynamic media asset information, such as media assets information concerning events. The obtained media asset information can be then presented via the electronic device in a convenient and efficient manner. According to one embodiment, a show time request for a media asset can be transmitted to a media server. In response to the show time request, event information for a plurality of event sites showing the requested media asset can be received. The event sites are selected based upon proximity to the location reference. The event information can include a plurality of show times for the requested media asset at least a first one of the event sites. The plurality of show times can be presented on a graphical timeline displayed on a display of a computing device. A map image can also be presented to depict a geographic area derived from the event information for each of the plurality of event sites.

Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for providing graphical completion status information for the management of serial computer operations that are forked into parallel operations. A first interactive progress bar, comprising a plurality of progress indicator segments, is implemented to show the completion status of a composite application. A second progress bar is implemented for each element of the composite application as it is executed. Elements that are serially executed may require prerequisite or dependent operations. Forking operations are performed to execute elements in parallel. One or more progress indicator segments are selected to display information about their related computer operations. The user interacts with the information to pause, modify, reorder, reverse, retarget, or reverse the selected computer operations.

Abstract: Example systems and methods provide navigation and review of images within a large data set via a handheld or other mobile device. A computer-implemented method includes providing a clinical data set divided into a plurality of portions. Each portion is associated with a graphical representation and includes a plurality of sub-portions. The graphical representation for each portion is displayed to a user such that the plurality of portions can be viewed on a user interface of the device. User navigation is facilitated at various levels of granularity among the plurality of portions via the user interface. User access is allowed to one or more sub-portions within a portion to locate an item of clinical data within a sub-portion. User selection of an item of clinical data within a sub-portion is enabled for viewing via the user interface. A selected item of clinical data is loaded for viewing via the user interface.

Abstract: Disclosed are diagnostic utilities and complimentary interfaces that enable users to observe, from a remote location, the configuration and operation of data access servers and associated data source devices. The servers provide diagnostic data and server-specific diagnostic schema used by a diagnostic utility to analyze the received diagnostic data. Engines within servers supply data associated with diagnostic roots within each server. In an embodiment, the set of diagnostic root types is extensible. First, the diagnostic roots are extended by adding to the scope of data items provided by base diagnostic objects. Second, entirely new diagnostic object root types can be added for a particular server. A diagnostic utility development environment provides a set of class libraries for creating server-specific portions. Server developers use a class library to create customized diagnostic objects.

The user interface presents a virtual electrode depth icon to a user that indicates the size of a lesion that may be created with the selected virtual electrode depth. The virtual electrode depth may be changed by the user according to the ablation therapy most appropriate for a patient, and the user may interact with the user interface to define the virtual electrode depth. In this manner, the user interface may be a touchscreen or other input device such as a mouse, pointing device, or keyboard. The user interface may also provide a thermometer icon that represents a patient temperature, a timer icon that represents a remaining time for therapy, and other representations of therapy progress.

For an individual competing against his own past performance(s), the system may raise the level of performance required to win the virtual competition, and may also lower the level of performance required if the user is not performing well on a particular day. For an individual competing against others in either real-time or against designated results, either as part of a team or a league, the system may reduce the isolation, disconnection, and tedium often experienced by users of cardiovascular exercise equipment and provide a social outlet.

Abstract: A workflow authoring system is described herein that provides a design-time authoring environment and a runtime component for displaying interactive, structured instructional content. The authoring environment provides custom controls, templates, and sample pages that allow authors to create a runnable workflow application. The application is a structured, interactive content type that provides users a better way to learn about data flows, workflows, and processes. The application also provides the ability to filter content based on specific actions the user takes, answers that the user provides, information that is retrieved from the user's environment, and so forth. This content model facilitates improved net satisfaction (NSAT) with software products, as users more readily find the information they are looking for and receive more dynamic instructional material. Authors that may not have programming experience can use the system to create rich, interactive content.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for indicating parallel operations with user-visible events. Event markers can be used to indicate an abstracted outer layer of execution as well as expose internal specifics of parallel processing systems, including systems that provide data parallelism. Event markers can be used to show a variety of execution characteristics including higher-level markers to indicate the beginning and end of an execution program (e.g., a query). Inside the execution program (query) individual fork/join operations can be indicated with sub-levels of markers to expose their operations. Additional decisions made by an execution engine, such as, for example, when elements initially yield, when queries overlap or nest, when the query is cancelled, when the query bails to sequential operation, when premature merging or re-partitioning are needed can also be exposed.

In one aspect, a time interval slider is displayed in a portion of a graphical user interface, where the time interval slider is a listing of time values in a single dimension at a first granularity level. A request is received via a multi-touch gesture to change from the first granularity level of time values to a second granularity level of time values in the time interval slider. In response, an updated set of time values at a second granularity level is displayed within the time interval slider. A selection of a first time value is received for a first endpoint in a time interval via a first touch input, and a selection of a second time value is received for a second endpoint in the time interval via a second touch input.

Abstract: The automated social networking graph mining and visualization technique described herein mines social connections and allows creation of a social networking graph from general (not necessarily social-application specific) Web pages. The technique uses the distances between a person's/entity's name and related people's/entities names on one or more Web pages to determine connections between people/entities and the strengths of the connections. In one embodiment, the technique lays out these connections, and then clusters them, in a 2-D layout of a social networking graph that represents the Web connection strengths among the related people's or entities' names, by using a force-directed model.
