Tab Metaphor (e.g., Property Sheet) Patents (Class 715/777)
  • Patent number: 8060823
Abstract: In an example embodiment, an online advertising management platform maintains an account that includes data relating to an order for advertising provided by an ad network affiliated with the platform. When the platform receives a login that identifies a user as having access rights to the account, the platform displays a view that includes a window displaying data relating to the order and a toolbar in a standardized location relative to the window. The toolbar includes a tab that displays a count of each informational message (e.g., alert or tip) which relates to the displayed data and which has not been dismissed by the current user. When the user clicks on the tab, the platform displays a tabbed window that includes a list of the informational messages, regardless of whether an informational message on the list has been read or dismissed by another user allowed access to the account.

Abstract: A multi-document application that includes a multi-document interface that includes a view area that displays one document at a time and includes a tab group element that displays tabs, each tab having a control that permits a corresponding document to be visualized in the view area. When a new document is opened in the multi-document application, the multi-document interface adds a new tab to the tab group element to represent the newly opened document. The multi-document application has a configuration interface that allows a user to designate customization settings for the multi-document interface. The configuration interface also provides a configuration preset interface that allows a user to select a preset option that automatically sets customization settings offered by the configuration interface rather than require the user set each customization setting individually.

A user may then designate that one or more of the tabs are to be pinned to thereby have the multi-document application assign a pinned status to the tab. Abstract: A method of displaying tab titles in a computer user interface receives a request to display a new tab in a tab area having a length. The new tab has a width and the new tab has a title having a length. The method determines a number of tabs to be displayed in the area and determines if the number of tabs to be displayed multiplied by the tab width is greater than the length of the tab area. If so, the method sets the tab width equal to the length of the tab area divided by the number of tabs. The method determines if the length of the title is greater than the tab width. If so, the method determines if the title has any words in common with any other titles of tabs. If so, the method deletes the common words from the titles, and displays the titles with the deleted common words in the tabs. The method may set a maximum number of tabs to be displayed in the tab area. The maximum number of tabs may be determined by the length of the tab area and a minimum tab width.

Abstract: A host device executes a browser application that displays web content to a user in plurality of tabs or windows. The browser application includes an interpreter that determines whether an external file referenced in the web content already exists in a shared memory resource available to a plurality of the tabs or windows. If the external file does not exist, the interpreter obtains the external file and generates the intermediate representation of the external file for storage in the shared memory resource. If the external file does exist, the interpreter links an intermediate representation of the code embedded in the web content that is stored in a dedicated memory resource to the corresponding intermediate representation of the external file stored in the shared memory resource.

  • Patent number: 7921372
Abstract: The techniques and mechanisms described herein are directed to a method for pinning a tab in a tabbed browser. Briefly stated, browsing software is configured to recognize a “pin” event, such as a hot key, a menu selection, and the like. Upon recognizing the pin event, the browsing software splits a display screen into a pinned window and a tabbed window. The tabbed window displays one or more open tabs and the content of the currently in focus tab. The pinned window may display content that was previously displayed within one of the tabs in the tabbed window or may display new content. The browsing software may configure the navigation of the pinned window differently than the navigation for the tabs in the tabbed window.

Abstract: A sharing model enables users to easily and conveniently create and share standard and custom database objects, and applications, among users or groups of users. The sharing model includes systems and methods that allow users to conveniently create and customize tabs and tab sets that define relationships between custom objects and fields, standard objects and fields, and applications. A tab visually represents a user interface into an element of an application or into a database object. Selection of a tab provides a user access to the object or element of the application represented by the tab. A tab set is a group of related tabs that work as a unit to provide application functionality. New tabs and tab sets may be defined and tab set views may be customized so that an end user can easily and conveniently switch between the various objects and application elements represented by the displayed tabs and tab set views.

Abstract: The invention relates to systems and methods for selectively auto-tabbing between input fields of an interface based on received input. More specifically, the intelligent auto-tabbing systems and methods accommodate different user preferences related to providing input by selectively auto-tabbing between fields based on user preferences. One example of a method according to one embodiment involves receiving an input character and entering the input character into a first field. The entry of that input character into the first field causes a number of characters in the first field to reach a predetermined threshold. A subsequent input character is received subsequent to that input character being entered into the first field. An input focus is positioned in a second field based on the subsequent input character.
