Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing an improved three-dimensional graphical user interface. In one embodiment, the method generally comprises: receiving an input from an end user, and capturing computing output from at least one computer source in response to the received end-user input. The computing output can be presented as two or more objects within a three-dimensional virtual space displayed to the end user. In one embodiment, the method further comprises generating a timeline that includes an icon for each object presented within the virtual space. In another embodiment, the method further comprises providing a database for storing and categorizing data regarding each object presented within the virtual space.

Abstract: A method of providing secondary content on a mobile device such that the secondary content is associated with a controller and is a member of one of a plurality of content categories. The method includes displaying primary content on an interface of the mobile device; receiving the secondary content at the mobile device; applying a visual property to the controller, the visual property identifying the content category that the secondary content is a member of. Further, after receiving the secondary content at the mobile device, the controller is displayed on the interface of the mobile device such that the controller does not visually interfere with the displayed primary content. Upon receiving input selecting the controller, the secondary content associated with the controller is displayed on the interface of the mobile device.

Abstract: Embodiments are described for handling display of modal windows in a multi-screen device. In embodiments, a modal window will be launched and displayed in a display which receives the input that resulted in the display of the modal window. The other portions of a first display or second display, not displaying the modal window, are made inactive. In other embodiments, the modal window occupies only a first display and the second display remains active.

Abstract: A method of connecting consumers with third parties includes providing one or more widgets adjacent a plurality of directory listings of third parties on webpage, with each widget being associated with one of the third parties. An indication can be received that a consumer has executed one of the widgets. The consumer and third party can be connected in a live chat session in response to the execution of the widget. The live chat session can be configured to allow direct communication between the consumer and the third party.

Abstract: Some aspects relate to providing a graphical interface for an application, underlying a graphical interface provided by an operating system shell. In an example, an input device (e.g., a mouse) generates an event associated with a location of a graphical display. The event is intercepted by a code segment provided in conjunction with the application, which determines whether the location is associated with a defined portion of the display associated with an actionable area of the graphical interface for the application, and that the location is not also associated with an element of the OS shell graphical interface (and if applicable, an active window of another application). If those conditions hold, then the event is redirected to the application, which can become active or take one or more actions. In a particular example, the defined portion of the display is visually distinguishable on a wallpaper image stored in video memory.

Abstract: A display control device includes: a changing unit changing a two-dimensional location representing locations in a horizontal direction and an orthogonal direction of each of a plurality of objects having different depths for a display screen of a display unit according to a direction in which a user views the display unit; a transparency adjusting unit for adjusting transparency for each of the plurality of objects; and a display control unit for displaying the plurality of objects in which the two-dimensional location is changed and the transparency is adjusted on the display unit, so as to overlap each other.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for running an application in a mobile terminal are provided. The apparatus includes a display for running a second application on a first screen according to a second touch event, and displaying a second screen smaller than the first screen, and a controller for hiding the second screen from a current screen to display an entire area of the first screen while a touch in an external area of the second screen is detected, and displaying again the second screen on the first screen if the touch in the external area of the second screen is released.

Abstract: Provided is a mobile terminal including a display unit on which multiple divisional screen regions are output, and a controller that, when receiving an input for a division mode in which the display unit is divided into the multiple screen regions, generates a list region including an icon corresponding to an application and divides the displaying unit into a first and second screen regions with the list region in between, in which when a pair icon including a first icon corresponding to a first application and a second icon corresponding to a second application is selected from the list region, the controller executes the first and second applications on one of the first and second screen regions according to positions of the first and second icons arranged on the pair icon, respectively.

Abstract: An electronic device of adjusting a display scale of images is provided. The electronic device includes a storage unit, a display unit, and a processing unit. The storage unit stores a plurality of images. The display unit receives user operations and displays the images from the storage unit. The processing unit determines whether there is a sliding operation on the display unit when an image is displayed on the display unit, determines a sliding direction and a sliding track of the sliding operation when the sliding operation is on the display unit, and adjusts a display scale of the image on the display unit based on the determined sliding direction and the sliding track of the sliding operation.

Abstract: Criterion-based feedback allows users to provide useful information in a quick and easy to understand fashion. When information for an item is relayed to a user, the user is provided with the ability to provide feedback for any criteria relating to the item. In some embodiments, this feedback takes the form of a submission of a response to a question or statement pertaining to a criterion for the item. The user is able to create new responses if the existing responses do not adequately convey the feedback that the users wishes to submit. Further, a user can also submit entirely new questions and/or statements, along with corresponding new responses, that correspond to a criterion relating to the item. Such an approach provides flexibility for users to quickly and easily provide feedback on specific criteria that might be useful for other users viewing information for that item.

Abstract: A display control device includes a display control unit and an input unit. The display control unit is configured to display, on a display screen, a first selection area displaying a list of a plurality of first data items, a first scroll bar corresponding to the first selection area, a second selection area displaying a list of a plurality of second data items, and a second scroll bar corresponding to the second selection area. The input unit is configured to receive a selection operation for selecting at least one item from the first data items displayed in the list in the first selection area. In conjunction with the selection operation of the first data item, the display control unit changes the second data items displayed in the list in the second selection area and the display mode of the second scroll bar.

Abstract: This is directed to differentiating between portions of a selection area that are within the boundary of displayed information and portions of the selection area that are beyond the boundary of the displayed information. In some embodiments, the graphical representation of the selection area can change based on the position of the selection area relative to the boundary of the displayed information. In particular, the representation of portions or regions of the selection area that are within the boundary of the displayed information can be different than the representation of the portions or regions of the selection area that extend beyond the boundary of the displayed information. For example, the electronic device can provide different fills in each of the regions, or different line patterns around the peripheries of each of the selection area regions.

Abstract: A portable terminal and a method for controlling locking and unlocking of a touch screen are provided. The method of unlocking a portable terminal includes displaying a three dimensional (3D) lock screen recognized in 3D on a screen, and determining a locking state of the portable terminal based on a spatial gesture input when the spatial gesture input is detected on the 3D lock screen.

Abstract: An apparatus for displaying a shortcut icon window of a mobile device includes: a display unit that displays a first layer including a plurality of first shortcut icons for executing different applications and a second layer including a shortcut icon window having one or more second shortcut icons, the second layer being located on the first layer; and a controller that, when at least one of the first shortcut icons is selected, controls to display the shortcut icon window on an execution screen of an application corresponding to the selected at least one first shortcut icon.

Abstract: A local computing device determines that multiple mouse modes are supported by both the local computing device and a remote computing device with which the local computing device is connected. The mouse modes are connection protocols for a cursor connection, the connection protocols identifying when to send cursor messages between the local computing device and the remote computing device as well as what types of information to include in the cursor messages. The local computing device detects one or more parameters of the connection between the local computing device and the remote computing device. When the one or more parameters satisfy a first criterion, the local computing device sets a first mouse mode for a cursor connection between the local computing device and the remote computing device. When the one or more parameters fail to satisfy the first criterion, the local computing device sets a second mouse mode for the cursor connection.

Abstract: An information-processing device according to the present invention displays plural windows in a certain arrangement. The information-processing device selects one of displayed windows as a selected window, and in response to an operation to specify a direction, sets a window located in the direction as a selected window. The information-processing device also, in a case where plural windows are displayed in a certain arrangement, changes the arrangement in accordance with a predetermined operation. The change may be made in a regular manner or according to a random pattern. For example, in a case where window W1 shown in Fig. (a) is a selected window, a desired window (a window a user wishes to select) is window W5, and arrangement is changed, the arrangement is changed to an arrangement shown in Fig. (b) or (c) so that a number of operations that is required for a user to select the desired window is reduced.

Abstract: Computer-implemented product design creation system and method for quickly developing a product design having desirable component elements. Multiple candidate product designs are simultaneously displayed for review. Controls are provided allowing a reviewer to enter a preference level for individual component elements of each of the displayed designs. A new set of candidate designs is created based on the entered preference levels. The new candidate designs are displayed for further review and further preference level selection.

Abstract: Systems and methods for management of geographic data layers in a geographic information system are provided. A layer control tool can be presented in conjunction with the geographic imagery. The layer control tool can provide a control interface to allow the user to manage the display of various geographic data layers in conjunction with the geographic imagery. The layer control tool can include a dynamic control list of geographic data layers. Geographic data layers can be identified for inclusion in the dynamic control list and/or ordered within the dynamic control list based on frequency of user interaction with the geographic data layers. In a particular implementation, the geographic data layers are identified for inclusion in the dynamic control list and/or ordered within the dynamic control list based on a layer score associated with each geographic data layer.

Abstract: A deferred placement prompt is provided in a user interface when an application window is launched. Responsive to the presentation of the deferred placement prompt, the user can provide a directional placement instruction (e.g., a “drag” of the prompt, a selection of a screen region, a keyboard input) to indicate the user's preference for placement of the launched window. The user interface can give cooperative feedback to the user during the deferred placement prompt operation, such as highlighting an application window to be replaced, responsive to a directional placement instruction, animating the deferred placement prompt, etc.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for displaying one or more actions associated with a domain. A server computer receives over a network from a client-side module executing on a computing device a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) associated with a web page to which a user has navigated via a browser executing on the computing device. The server computer determines that the web page is part of a domain that the user has navigated to more than a predetermined number of times within a given period of time. The server computer determines a category associated with the web page and determines one or more actions associated with the domain. The server computer transmits to the computing device for display in the browser a link, the link representing an action associated with the domain and with the category associated with the web page.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention may provide a message handling system for displaying messages in a structured way. The message handling system may store template messages in a table of a database and generate messages using the template messages. The message handling system may further assess a display area for displaying the generated messages and determine whether all of the generated messages can be viewed on the display area without scrolling. If not, the message handling system may determine whether there are more than one type of generated messages. If there are more than one type of generated messages, the message handling system may group the messages based on message types; and display a list of messages in a plurality of message groups. Each message group may be displayed with a representative message and a link for other similar message in the message group.

Abstract: Two different process management views can be displayed, and a user can request to switch between the two views. The user can select a process in either view and have the selected process terminated. One view is a simplified view that identifies processes and whether they are non-responsive. The other view is an expanded view that identifies processes and the amount of various system resources used by each of those processes. Abstract: Windows in a graphical user interface are automatically repositioned and resized in response to changes in a display configuration. If a window is not capable of being fully displayed within the reconfigured display area, it is constrained to fit the available space. In determining the constraints for the window, the window is given a size which permits an integral amount of information to be displayed to the user. If a minimum required size is not already present in the available display area, the window is moved into the available area until the minimum size is attained. If the visible portion of the window already contains the minimum required area, a determination is made whether additional integral components of the window can be displayed. The window is then appropriately shrunk or expanded to permit an integral number of components to be displayed, and control elements are added to the window.

These communications can be a single type or multiple types of data and may come from email systems, bulletin boards, text messages, Facebook and Twitter postings and comments, financial transactions, travel itineraries or any other type of communications. In one embodiment, the system provides a Universe View of a set of communications. The Universe View, in one embodiment, is a three dimensional representation of a plurality of cubes. Each cube represents a subset of a collection of communications. Each cube can be color coded or shaded to represent a dominant theme of the contents of the communications represented by the cube.

Abstract: A method, program product, and apparatus are disclosed for automatic display partitioning based on user number and orientation. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a detection module that detects a plurality of users, a partitioning module that creates a plurality of display-screen partitions on a display screen, and a positioning module that orients one of the display-screen partitions to correspond to the position of one of the device users in relation to the display screen.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a multi-window application to a user over a network are provided. An exemplary method includes presenting a first frame to the, the first frame containing application logic. The method further includes presenting a second frame to the user, the second frame containing user interface logic. Steps in the method create a relationship between the first frame and the second frame allowing the user interface logic of the second frame to use the application logic contained in the first frame. When an indication is received that the first frame is to be closed, and an application-specific condition is true, the application logic is transferred from the first frame to the second frame using a command, while preserving the state of the second frame. The first frame is then closed.

The method includes: receiving a state activation instruction based on an icon by using a screen of a touch device, so as to activate the icon into a movable state; receiving, by the touch device, a page switching instruction by using a screen edge area, and switching a currently displayed user interface page according to the page switching instruction; and releasing the icon so that the touch device moves the icon to a target user interface page. Abstract: A method and system configured to use HTML5 layout for rendering a native downloaded graphical user interface is disclosed herein. The system is comprised of a mobile device, a native downloadable application, a mobile web services API, a native application authoring tool, and an HTML5 authoring tool. The HTML5 authoring tool is used to create an application layout conformant with the HTML5 standards and practices.

Abstract: Incoming messages, like incoming wounded on the battlefield, can be initially sorted into groups e.g. a) those which can be or should be treated immediately, b) those which can be treated later, and c) those which should not be treated. Like in a triage unit on a battlefield, it is useful to reduce the amount of effort and increase the speed at which this sort takes place. In a more specific embodiment, the one or more behaviors are adjusted via window groupings in accordance with window context, which includes one or more keywords associated with open windows. The user interface controls may be implemented via headers in the primary window and detached window. Data is automatically synchronized between windows.
