  • Patent number: 11812103
Abstract: When a device is playing out a first media stream, the device determines a target time for beginning playout of a second media stream in place of the first media stream. The device then starts a stream-transition process that is expected to take anywhere from a minimum expected transition duration to a maximum expected transition duration, and the device starts the transition process in advance of the determined target time by the maximum expected transition duration, to help ensure timely starting of playout of the second media stream. Further, for an uncertainty period that extends from the minimum expected transition duration after the starting to the maximum expected transition duration after the starting, the device generates and plays a sequence of transition frames to help mask transition from the first media stream to the second media stream.

Abstract: In embodiments of an audio control module (318), audio data (310) is received from an audio data source (314) for output to an audio rendering device (316). An initialization input (326) can be received from a wireless audio headset (320) and, responsive to receiving the initialization input, the audio data (328) is communicated to the audio headset. The audio that would be generated from the audio data (322) at the audio rendering device (316) is also limited, such as by replacing the audio data (322) with null audio data, clearing audio data packets from the audio data (322), or by asserting a mute signal (336) to the audio rendering device.

  • Patent number: 11783382
Abstract: Methods and systems relating to generating and correlating metadata with a content item are disclosed. For example, a computing device may generate one or more timestamp indicators to be associated with a content item. Each timestamp indicator may be correlated to metadata and may be associated with a time point or time interval in a duration of the content item. A requesting device may generate a request for metadata that may comprise an identifier of a timestamp indicator. The request may be generated, for example, based on determining a user of the device is requesting display of an interactive application. Upon receiving a metadata request comprising an identifier of a timestamp indicator, a computing device may transmit metadata correlated to the timestamp indicator to the requesting device or to another user device.

Abstract: Systems, devices and automated process allow automatic replacement of advertisements or other content in previously-broadcast television programs. A content management system or the like operating on a digital network receives indicia from playback devices that have encountered identified advertisements that are stored in digital video recorders or that are otherwise contained within previously-broadcast television programs. The encounters are recorded in a database for subsequent analysis. If desired, the previously-broadcast advertisements may be replaced with more relevant or engaging advertisements prior to playback to the viewer, thereby allowing a fresher, more relevant and more engaging experience for the viewer.

Abstract: Systems and methods of the present technical solution enable a multi-modal interface for voice-based devices, such as digital assistants. The solution can enable a user to interact with video and other content through a touch interface and through voice commands. In addition to inputs such as stop and play, the present solution can also automatically generate annotations for displayed video files. From the annotations, the solution can identify one or more break points that are associated with different scenes, video portions, or how-to steps in the video. The digital assistant can receive input audio signal and parse the input audio signal to identify semantic entities within the input audio signal. The digital assistant can map the identified semantic entities to the annotations to select a portion of the video that corresponds to the users request in the input audio signal.

Abstract: Provided is a display device including a display panel which allows a curvature portion thereof to be narrowed near a terminal portion even when circuit blocks are arranged in the curvature portion. For a data line in the form of a polyline consisting of a plurality of short straight line segments in a first curvature portion 12a of a display panel 10, as the distance from a terminal portion 16 increases, the slant angle of each straight line segment increases, the number of data lines d decreases, and hence the width of a data line area decreases. Accordingly, the number of unit circuit blocks 70 in a parallel circuit block 80 disposed in a circuit area can be increased by widening the circuit area in proportion to the decrease in the width of the data line area.

  • Patent number: 11741979
Abstract: Audio content may be played on multiple audio-enabled devices via a voice command issued by a user. The voice command is received at a first audio-enabled device and processed, via speech recognition, to identify the audio content to be played and the target devices on which the audio content is to be played. In addition, the voice command can also indicate the time periods associated with the audio playback to provide synchronized playback. Device set information can be used to determine if the first audio-enabled device shares audio functionality with the target devices. If shared functionality is confirmed, one or more commands are sent to the respective target devices to instruct the corresponding playback of the audio content.
