Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, at a media-player device, authentication information from a client system that is within range of at least one antenna of the media-player device. In response to receiving the authentication information, the media-player device may set a power level of each of the antennas to a maximum power level and may broadcast, by at least one antenna, broadcast signals. The media-player device may receive, from the client system, instructions to adjust a power level of each antenna. The instructions may be determined based on broadcast signals received at the client system and on the respective position of the client system that is associated with each received broadcast signal. The media-player device may adjust the power levels of each of the antennas of the plurality of antennas to define a range of broadcast based on the received instructions.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for measuring audience engagement for a media asset using user motion. For example, a media guidance application may receive movement logs from a plurality of user equipment. These movement logs may contain information indicating when each of the plurality of users moved, as detected by motion sensors, while the user equipment was generating for display a media asset. The movement logs may be analyzed to determine time periods during the media asset during which greater than a certain number of the plurality of users were moving. These time periods may in turn be used to infer how engaged the plurality of users were during the media asset or what portions of the media asset the plurality of users viewed. This data may be used to determine in what media assets, or portions thereof, supplemental video content should be inserted.

In some embodiments, the technology can receive an indication of a user's sensitivity to an aspect of a presentation, receive general content relating to the presentation, receive overlay content relating to the presentation, combine the received general content and the received overlay content to create the presentation, and render the presentation. Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a secondary soundtrack to a user viewing an audiovisual work associated with a primary soundtrack. A secondary soundtrack corresponding to the primary soundtrack is determined. Soundtrack synchronization data from a user computing device is transmitted to a server, which determines a position within the primary soundtrack based on the soundtrack synchronization data. The selected secondary soundtrack is streamed to the client computing device based on the determined position, and played for a user of the client computing device.

With the multi-terminal synchronous play control method and apparatus, multiple player terminals can play the same media file synchronously, and different player terminals can play different channels of the same media file synchronously, which achieves a good play effect and improves the play experience of the user.

The principal is enabled to provide metrics for the agent's performance.

In yet another implementation, continuously streaming multicast ad channels may be switched at suitable points in a multicast ABR media channel based on targeting parameters.

Abstract: An enhanced television service provides a shared folder over a television network, such as a fiber optic network. Users, the service provider, or trusted sources, share use of a program folder via television. A user recommends content, such as a program listing, to other geographically dispersed subscribers, by sending the content to the subscribers' shared folder. Users may create a personal content guide for use instead of a standard program guide that contains identical listings for all subscribers. The shared folder may consist of programs from a variety of channels as well as other content and may be populated by trusted sources in remote locations. Users may search for content that matches search criteria and may delete or edit listings from the shared folder. The contents of the folder may not only include program listings, but also other content such as movies, television shows, web sites, photos, home videos, etc.

The media-player device includes antennas, and power levels of the antennas are set to maximum in response to receiving the indication. An orientation position of the client system with respect to the media-player device is determined based on broadcast signals received from the antennas. At each boundary position of the client system, where each boundary position in range of an antenna, a broadcast signal is received from the antenna. Signal strengths are determined for the received broadcast signals. Instructions to adjust a power level of each of the antennas based on the determined signal strengths are sent to the media-player device. The power levels are adjusted to define a broadcast range based on the orientation and boundary positions.

The digital data are interactive advertisements, such as online social games, that increase users' awareness of the advertised products or messages. The digital data are delivered to the user's client device in synchronization with the broadcasting of on-air television commercials.

Abstract: A semantic based trick play method and system in a media player is provided in which a semantic trick play command is received from a user while the user is experiencing a current content of a media item. Metadata is detected with respect to a current playback position of the media item, and at least one further playback position is determined in the current content of the media item or a related content in another media item. The further playback position is semantically related to the metadata of the current playback position. Playback is then moved to the at least one further playback position, so that the user experiences a media content of the at least one further playback position.
