Abstract: A unitary opener device for tab-type cans, which is extremely inexpensive to fabricate, simple to use and reliable in operation. A first embodiment comprises a unitary member having a handle portion adapted to be gripped by a user, and a working end portion having a pair of relatively inflexible nose portions, the nose portions being separated by a slot dimensioned to receive the exposed portion of the can opening tab. One of the nose portions has a shorter length than the other, while each of the nose portions is provided with an external convex fulcrum surface adapted to engage the can surface bearing the tab to assist in raising the exposed portion of the tab away from the can surface and rupturing the seal between the tab and the can surface.

Abstract: A bottle opener and resealer which is combined into a single unit wherein there is incorporated a head member having both a bottle opening recess and a bottle cap resealing recess. A corkscrew member extends from the head member. A removable protective sheath is located about the corkscrew member when not in use. A stopper for a bottle is mounted about the protective sheath which is to be used within the neck of a bottle to close such. The protective sheath is to be removable and associated with the head in order to function as a handle to facilitate operation of the corkscrew member.

Abstract: A tool for a paint can is provided and consists of an elongated shank extending from a handle that has a first structure thereon to remove the paint can lid, a second structure thereon to punch a hole in the paint can gutter so that paint will drain back into the paint can and a third structure thereon to replace the paint can lid by leverage.

Abstract: A tool for opening beverage cans of the type having a flip-top structure with a ring and displaceable disc is described. The tool has an elongated handle with one end thereof including a blade with a sharp edge, said blade extending past the handle's end. At the end of the handle adjacent the blade, two downwardly projecting rails cooperate to form a channel to guide the blade to its ultimate position in the process of opening a beverage can with a flip top structure.

Abstract: A hand-operated tool of the pliers type includes a body member in which a rectilinear guiding track for a jaw carrier is provided. One stationary jaw for treating a working piece is arranged at one end of the guiding track and another jaw on the jaw carrier. A handle is pivoted to the body member laterally of the guiding track and is provided with faces for engagement with co-operating faces on the jaw carrier so as to press the jaw carrier and the jaw mounted on it towards the stationary jaw when the handle is activated.

Abstract: A combination tensioning and braking tool providing an improved mechanical means for removing interior portions from plates of plate vitreous material, such as glass. The tool includes a spring-loaded handle and a pair of cooperating jaws, both of which contain a movable head. The tool may be used for opening or running scored lines between holes which are drilled through the sheet by allowing pressure to be alternately applied to the same side of the scored line for the run and then pressure to the opposite side of the scored line for reverse runs. The tool may also be used for braking a cut when the pressure applying surfaces of the head means are in a nonworking position.

Abstract: An opener tool for aiding a user in opening a can of the type having a self contained stay-on-tab opening system. The opening tool is configured to slide onto the lever end of the can's tab structure to hold it during pivotable movement of the tab structure and to be in bearing engagement with the head of the rivet which attaches the tab structure to the can to utilize the rivet as a fulcrum for the opener tool.

Abstract: A hand-held tool for opening tab open cans. The tool includes an elongated body having an opening with converging surfaces which can be slipped over the tab. A narrow edge at the lower margin of the opening assists initially in lifting the tab away from the can end. As the tool is pivoted upwardly, a chisel-shaped nose portion on the front end of the tool assists in pressing the weakened portion of the can end inwardly. The relationship between the tool nose portion and the thin edge prevents interference between the nose portion and the can end when the tool is initially slipped onto the tab.

Abstract: A manually operable hand tool is provided for causing the lid of a pressure cooker to rotate with respect to the underlying vessel of the pressure cooker. The tool is comprised of an elongated handle portion, and a bifurcated gripping head disposed at one extremity of the handle portion. The gripping head is provided with three abutment sites which engage the vertically aligned handles of a sealed pressure cooker. When the handle portion of the tool is downwardly forced, there is a concerted pushing of the vessel and pulling of the lid.

Abstract: A champagne bottle opener designed to dislodge an overhanging top of closure of the type commonly used to close champagne or sparkling wine bottles. The device includes a handle and a bifurcated working area having a prying surface designed to engage the overhanging edge of the closure and deflect it sideward to begin its removal. In one embodiment the bifurcated working area includes a pair of arms which are spaced a distance greater than the bottle neck diameter and less than the diameter of the wire retaining ring around the neck of a champagne bottle. In another embodiment a single angular arm forms with the handle a recess for receiving the bottle neck. In still another embodiment the arms are bent to conform with the upper surface of the ring of the bottle. In normal use, the sideward movement of the cork is sufficient to cause its dislodgement from its sealed position and it may be easily removed manually or it may pop off in a controlled and predictable manner.

Abstract: A mechanical riveter comprising a slideway with rivet-gripping jaw assembly slidable in said slideway to be pulled by a rod. A pivot and guide pin at the other end of the slideway pivotally carries a pair of squeezable handles and a pair of links, each pivoted between a handle and the end of the rod, so that when the handles are squeezed, the links pull the rod down and away from the nosepiece, guided through a bore through the pivot guide pin.

Abstract: A one-piece, hand-operated opener for plastic cork or cap removal. A frame of generally rigid material surrounds a keyhole shaped opening, the circular portion of said opening fitting over the head portion of a plastic cap press-fitted into the neck of a champagne bottle. The slot portion of the opening has a smaller lateral dimension permitting it to be forced between the downward edges of the cap head portion and a flange adjacent to the bottle neck extremity. The frame shape on either side of the slot section of the opening forms a ramp, the thickness of the frame thereat increasing in the direction of a butt portion extending from said frame at the end opposite the opening circular portion. Integral thumb and finger ears extend laterally opposite from the frame adjacent the circular opening portion.

Abstract: A manually operable tool for inserting or removing contacts into or from electrical connectors, having an elongated handle housing with a spring-loaded longitudinally slidable member therein, the forward extremities of both the slidable member and handle housing having jaws in opposed parallel relation to each other, and operable to hold a contact under spring pressure or to release the contact when the slidable member is moved rearwardly.

Abstract: Disclosed is a hand tool for mounting and removing split retaining rings on a shaft consisting of plier-like grip handles pivoted on a base plate, said base plate having a hole therethrough to accommodate the shaft. An abutment means is provided on the end of the base plate adjacent the hole and a moveable camming device faces the abutment means on the opposite side of the hole. The retaining ring is gripped between the abutment means and the camming device, and the ring is expanded to accommodate the shaft by the movement of the camming device into the split of the ring and toward the abutment means.
