Including Means To Move Work From One Tool Station To Another Patents (Class 83/404)
  • Patent number: 10639809
Abstract: A method is for operating a device for carrying out cutting operations on an open format edge of a printed product. The device is operatively connected to a feed apparatus for the first cutting operation and to a removal apparatus which operates after the final cutting operation. The printed product is transferred from a first cutting location, at which the cutting operation for a first format edge is carried out, to a second cutting location, at which the cutting operation for a second format edge takes place. Once the cutting operation is complete at the second cutting location, the printed product is transferred to a third cutting location, at which the cutting operation for a third format edge takes place. The printed product is transferred among the cutting locations by a transport unit that grips the printed product by the spine to convey the product in a suspended manner.

Abstract: A filter medium is embossed to form embossments and the filter medium is then cut at least in some sections by a cutting device such as a water jet, a laser beam, an ultrasonic cutting device, or a cutter, by moving a point of impact of the cutting device relative to the filter medium to produce a cutting line. After cutting, the filter medium is folded. Alternatively, the filter medium is folded to folds and then at least some of the folds are pulled apart at least partially. In a region of the folds which have been pulled apart, the filter medium is cut at least in some sections thereof by the cutting device by moving a point of impact of the cutting device relative to the filter medium to produce a cutting line. After cutting, the folds are reset.

  • Patent number: 8875608
Abstract: This invention provides a slitter assembly with automated adjustment of slitter elements that allows for driven rotation of elements on the associated drive shaft during operation while enabling the elements to be moved freely along the drive shaft during setup and subsequently secured to the shaft free of lateral movement. This ensures that adjustment of the slitter elements is accurate, repeatable and reliable. In an illustrative embodiment, the slitter elements each comprise a pair of coaxial members including a blade member and a locking member. The blade member contains a slitter blade and overlies the locking member which is nested therewith. The locking member directly engages the drive shaft surface with a wedge assembly structure. The members are spring-loaded with respect to each other so that the two surfaces are normally biased to cam together and exert a hoop stress on the drive shaft.

A first stage of the process is a partial separation operation that almost entirely separates the web portions, but leaves the web portions connected, such as by a slitting operation that leaves a series of connected zones. The second stage includes the complete separation, such as by breaking of the connected zones. The complete separation of the web portions preferably occurs near the station at which the use supply forms are created, such as a winding station. Abstract: A slicing and conveying system forms a three or more flavor-combined draft. A first slicing machine slices a succession of first slices. A first output conveyor beneath the first slicing machine receives the first slices in a first draft. A second slicing machine slices a succession of second slices. A second output conveyor beneath the second slicing machine receives the second slices in a second draft. A pass-through conveyor transfers the first draft to the second output conveyor, wherein the second draft is added to the first draft to form a first combined draft. The first slicing machine also slices a succession of third slices in a third draft. An overlap conveyor receives the first combined draft and merges the first combined draft with the third draft on the overlap conveyor to form an elongated combined draft. A first optical sensor determines a length of the first draft. A second length sensor determines a length of the second draft. A third length sensor determines a length of the third draft.

Abstract: A cutter system for cutting a larger sheet into individual photographic images includes a cutter for severing a transverse strip containing one or more printed images from a larger sheet. A transport table positioned to receive the strip from the cutter includes two sets of drivers, one set for moving the strip longitudinally and a second set for moving the strip laterally to a second cutter that in turn separates the strip into individual photographs. Sensors in both cutters acting in response to fiducial marks on the larger sheet cooperate with the drivers for positioning the larger sheet and the severed strip at the proper cutting locations.

  • Patent number: 6615698
Abstract: A dual-end cutting machine for trimming assembled blinds has fixed spacing between a pair of trimming units, which are adapted from conventional power miter saws. The blind assembly is clamped to a carriage that is movable on tracks between the trimming units, and adjustable stops are supported at opposite ends of the machine. The adjustable stops also have actuators for movement between an advanced position for positioning the blinds for cutting, and a retracted position that facilitates evacuation of scraps and chips from respective collector boxes wherein cutting takes place to a vacuum holding tank. A method for trimming includes clamping the blinds to the carriage with components aligned against one stop member, trimming that end of the blinds, moving the carriage to abut the blinds against the other stop, and trimming the other end of the blinds.

Abstract: A system for automatically producing formed parts from feedstock using two successive adiabatic processing stations, a first station performing adiabatic cut-off of blanks from the feedstock, and the second station performing adiabatic forming of the blanks into the formed parts. The first station operates cooperatively with a feedstock feeder assembly which feeds feedstock to the first station and also charges blanks produced at the first station into a transfer capsule of a transferer assembly. The first and second stations cooperatively operate with the blank transferer assembly which transfers in the transfer capsule blanks from the first to the second station. The second station includes means for positioning blanks relative to a forming cavity before blanks are adiabatically shaped to conform to the forming cavity and also means for ejecting formed parts from tooling that defines the forming cavity. The system includes automation means that synchronizes and sequences subassembly operations.

Abstract: A reject mechanism (10) for use with a slitter (S) which slits a printed metal sheet (B) into segments (s) subsequently used to form containers. The mechanism is mounted at the outlet of the slitter to deflect rejected segments from a collection bin (C) to which acceptable segments are delivered for further use in container manufacture. The mechanism comprises a series of pneumatically actuated reject fingers (14) normally positioned beneath a path over which the segments pass from the slitter to the collection bin. However, when a reject segment approaches the mechanism, a piston (16) is activated to extend the fingers into the path of the segment to deflect the segment off its path into another collection area in which rejected segments are collected. The fingers are then retracted so that succeeding acceptable segments pass freely over the path.

The device for dividing laminated glass can also be made narrower or can have only one movable support 5 if a support 2 affixed to the frame is made integral with the bearing surface of glass cutting table 30.
