  • Patent number: 7139448
Abstract: Significant advances in semiconductor microelectronics technologies have resulted in greatly enhanced chip performance. Systems studies have continuously shown that on-board interconnects between chips are the bottleneck in achieving board level performance that is comparable with this chip performance. This invention provides a multiple-layer photonic-electronic circuit board family that solves this interconnect performance problem. Multiple layers of patterned optical channel waveguides and patterned electrical conductors co-exist in a single circuit board structure, with optical vias to transport light between different photonics layers and electrical vias to transport electrical signals and power between different electronics layers. An all-lithographic fabrication technology is used to build the entire board structure with mutually compatible planar processing steps.

  • Patent number: 7074531
Abstract: In an electrophotographic photoreceptor including a conductive substrate and a photoreceptive layer formed on the conductive substrate wherein the photoreceptive layer charged uniformly is exposed to light corresponding to an image information to form an electrostatic latent image, the surface free energy (?) is determined to be at least 20 mN/m and at most 35 mN/m. The determination of ? on the surface of the photoreceptor 1 in the appropriate range makes it possible to suppress excessive adhesion of a toner to the surface of the photoreceptor, to suppress adhesion of foreign matters such as a paper powder and to make easy the separation thereof from the surface, which results in improving the cleanability of the photoreceptor. Since the image is formed with the photoreceptor 1 having always the clean surface, the damage or the decrease in image quality does not occur over a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 6280895
Abstract: In a reactor capable of reducing an internal pressure thereof, a non-single-crystalline material layer containing at least one kind of carbon atoms, hydrogen atoms or nitrogen atoms is formed and etched on a non-single-crystalline photoconductive layer mainly composed of silicon atoms, formed on a substrate, under application of a high-frequency power of 50 MHz to 450 MHz, and the formation and the etching are alternately repeated plural times to form a surface layer. A light-receiving member having such a surface layer does not damage cleaning performance over a long period of time, hardly allows adhesion of corona discharge products, and can be free from faint images, smeared images and uneven image density even if no heating means for the drum is provided.
