Abstract: A process for coating or welding easily oxidized materials is carried out by applying weld metal powder by a plasma powder welding process with an alternating current or with a direct current and a superimposed alternating current as welding current to generate a plasma arc for the powder welding process. For this purpose, one base of the plasma arc is produced in a spherical recess (34) of an electrode (32).
Abstract: A hybrid regulator in which a switching regulator and a series regulator are inter-connected in a desired manner. In the hybrid regulator, most of current required for a load is supplied from the switching regulator which has a poor regulation performance while having high efficiency. The hybrid regulator also includes a sensing unit for the rapid sensing of the current supplied to the load. Based on the operation of the sensing unit, the series regulator, which has a poor power efficiency while exhibiting a excellent regulation performance, supplies or absorbs only a small amount of ripple current. The series regulator serves as an independent voltage source whereas the switching regulator serves as a dependent current source. Accordingly, the hybrid regulator ensures a superior regulation performance while achieving high efficiency.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved injection molding machine and process. The injection molding machine includes a first mold half with at least one mold cavity or mold core and a rotatable turret means rotatable on an axis for rotating a pair of mating mold halves into alignment with the first mold half. Each mating mold half includes at least one mold core or mold cavity matable with the first mold half for forming a mold for forming at least one molded article. The turret block is movable so that a first one of the mating mold halves can be brought into contact with the first mold half. The machine also includes an injection system for injecting molten material into the mold to form the molded article(s). After the injection cycle is completed, the turret block with the molded article(s) thereon is moved away from the first mold half and is rotated by 180 degrees to align a second one of the mating mold halves with the first mold half and to bring the molded article(s) to an ejection position.

Abstract: Loudspeaker system having various loudspeakers (SP.sub.i, i=0, 1, 2, . . . , m) which are arranged in accordance with a predetermined pattern and have associated filters (F.sub.i, i=0, 1, 2, . . . , m), which filters all receive an audio signal (AS) and are equipped to transmit output signals to the respective loudspeakers (SP.sub.i) such that they, during operation, generate a sound pattern of a predetermined form, wherein the loudspeakers (SP.sub.i) have a mutual spacing (l.sub.i), which, insofar as physically possible, substantially corresponds to a logarithmic distribution, wherein the minimum spacing is determined by the physical dimensions of the loudspeakers used.
Abstract: A wastewater treatment system is disclosed which can be used to treat high-strength septage, sewage and industrial wastewater. The wastewater treatment system consists of three major components. In the first component, solids are separated from the liquid component of the wastewater being treated. The separated solid portion is removed to a composting component wherein it is turned into a commercially useful compost material. The liquid component is subjected to a two part treatment wherein the first part of the treatment is carried out in a sequencing batch reactor and the second part is carried out in at least one reed bed. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the various components of the wastewater treatment system are in modular form.

Abstract: In a process for producing precise cut surfaces on a workpiece by stamping or blanking, in particular by fine-edge blanking, a contour first is stamped or blanked out at a distance (a) from the actual contour of the workpiece, and the workpiece then is scraped down to its final contour. It is intended here, in a first step, for only up to part of the thickness (d) of the workpiece to be scraped and, in a following step, for the contour of the workpiece to be achieved by scraping in the opposite direction to the first step.

Abstract: A bill validator of master-slave type is provided for easy downloading. A master discriminating circuit (40) is switched from a validating mode to a master mode by operation of the master mode switch (48) to forward the download information to a slave discriminating circuit (40) according to the download program. The slave discriminating circuit (40) is switched from a validating mode to a slave mode by operation of the slave mode switch (49) so that the download information from the master discriminating circuit (40) is written according to the download program in the writable memory (43) of the slave discriminating circuit (40) via the download output terminal (44) of the master discriminating circuit (40) and the download input terminal (46) of the slave discriminating circuit (40).
Abstract: The process includes obtaining a liquid extract from a fresh plant source material and mixing the extract with a solution saturated with at least one element having an oxidation number of one or two or combinations thereof. The resulting mixture provides for a solid precipitate material and a liquid portion containing the triterpene glycosides of which is then passed through a macroporous resin. The resin is then washed with an alcohol to obtain a solution thereof containing the triterpene glycosides. The solution is condensed to provide a purified liquid triterpene glycoside solution and then a drying step is performed to obtain a dry composition containing the triterpene glycosides.
Abstract: This invention relates to master alloy hardeners for use in preparing aluminum base alloys. The respective concentrations of the alloying elements in the master alloy hardener are a multiple equal to or greater than 2 of the concentrations of such elements in the base alloy, and the ratios of the alloying elements in the master alloy hardener to each other are the same as the ratios of the alloying elements in the base alloy. After the aluminum base alloy and the concentration of each alloying element therein are identified, a desired multiple of such concentrations is determined. An aluminum master alloy is prepared that contains the alloying elements at concentrations equivalent to such multiple of the corresponding concentrations of the elements in the base alloy. The master alloy hardeners are added to commercially pure aluminum to provide the desired base alloy.
