  • Patent number: 5266277
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a gas dispersing device to be employed in a fluidized bed preliminary reducing furnace. The gas dispersing device is constructed of a plurality of rotatable round bars arranged in multiple stages so as to form a grate. The gas dispersing device includes a rotating mechanism for rotating each bar.According to the present invention, deformation of the bars due to a temperature change thereof can be avoided to thereby extend a life of the dispersing device. Furthermore, blinding of the dispersing device can be prevented to thereby effectuate a stable operation of a fluidized bed. Accordingly, productivity in the fluidized bed reducing furnace is improved, and labor saving is realized.

  • Patent number: 5265479
Abstract: An optically driven microresonator sensor comprising a sensor member having a vibratory bridge onto which a light beam is directed at a non-zero angle relative to a normal to said bridge, the light beam causing the bridge to oscillate at its resonant frequency, in use, in the direction of said normal, between a first position, where most of the incident light is reflected by the bridge to a light intensity measuring system, and a second position, where most of the incident light is not intercepted by said bridge, so that the reflected incident light sensed by said light intensity measuring system is reduced, the resonant frequency of oscillation of the bridge thus determined from said system, being dependent upon the nature of an applied force, such as stress, exerted on the sensor member.

  • Patent number: 5265786
Abstract: An apparatus for placing surgical staples which are moved one after another from a staple support onto a lower die and are deformed there using an upper die, by lowering and further adjusting the upper die onto the particular staple to be placed situated on the lower die, wherein the staple is deformed by bending around the lower die and then separated from the lower die using an ejector, is described. A particularly simple and function-safe design for the ejector system is produced in that the ejector can be displaced in a straight line and is brought to rest against the limbs of the implanted staple by means of a head below the lower die when adjusting to its second position.

  • Patent number: 5245138
Abstract: There is disclosed, a gross weight scale for filling material which can be poured or which can flow. The filling material is weighed by means of weighing cells and is filled by way of a filling connection into a bag suspended therefrom and is then compressed. In order to keep the weighing cells free of the compressive forces and so as to be able to check between each filling of the bag, the zero points of the cells in respect of permitted weighing tolerances, the filling connection is constructed as a structural unit which is separate from the filling container and is loosely suspended by means of a hanger arrangement from the weighing cells, which are attached to the filling container, and a decoupling arrangement is provided for bringing the filling connection out of operative engagement with the hanger arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5223829
Abstract: An electric locker apparatus to be installed at a public space, such as entrance hall of a condominium, includes a plurality of locker boxes of at least one type, each having a door with an electric lock device, and a sensor for detecting whether the relevant locker box is occupied by an article or empty. An improved locker box designating device serves to automatically designate an empty locker box of a desired type such that any one of the locker boxes of a same type, after it has been once used, can be designated only after subsequent one-round use of all remaining locker boxes of the same type. The lock device of the designated locker box is actuated to unlock the door, for allowing an article to be accommodated in the locker box. All the locker boxes of a same type are thus put into use with as uniform a frequency as possible.

  • Patent number: 5221326
Abstract: A method of producing an ultra-low-carbon steel by conducting vacuum-decarburization of a molten steel by means of a vacuum degasifier of the type having recirculation pipes and a vacuum chamber. When the carbon content of the molten steel has come down to a level of 50 ppm or less, hydrogen gas is introduced together with an inert gas into the molten steel either by directly injecting a hydrogen-containing gas into the molten steel in the vacuum chamber through a tuyere provided in the wall of the vacuum chamber or by blowing the hydrogen-containing gas onto the surface of the molten steel in the vacuum chamber through a lance provided in the vacuum chamber. In order to enhance the effect produced by the method of the present invention, it is possible to take an additional measure such as blowing of hydrogen gas through a tuyere provided in the wall of the recirculation pipe or injection of hydrogen or hydrogen-containing gas through an injection lance immersed in the molten steel held in, a ladle.
