  • Patent number: 6119966
Abstract: A pilot control valve of a fuel injection valve, having a first housing part which forms a well with walls parallel to an axis (z-z). A second housing part with a plug-in portion which is introduced in form-locking fashion into the well up to a set-point position. The first and second housing parts jointly define a chamber in which a valve closing member is displaceable along the axis in a chamber between a closed position, in which the valve closing member rests on a pilot control valve seat, and an open position, and the stroke of the valve closing member between the closed and the open positions is defined by the set-point position. The plug-in portion is fixed in the set-point position on the walls of the well that are parallel to the axis (z-z). It is thus possible for the set-point position, which is equivalent to a desired switching performance of the pilot control valve, to be adjusted accurately before a fixation.

  • Patent number: 6116859
Abstract: A feed pump having a pair of gears that mesh with each other and are driven to rotate in a pump chamber. The gears supply a feed medium from an intake chamber connected to a storage tank, along a supply conduit constituted between the end face of the gears and the circumferential wall of the pump chamber. The feed medium is pumped into a pressure chamber, and a bypass conduit that connects the intake chamber to the pressure chamber can be opened by means of a pressure valve disposed in the bypass conduit. The bypass conduit that contains the pressure valve is disposed in a housing cover that closes the housing of the feed pump. The housing cover can be rotated 180 degrees in order to reverse the flow of the fluid medium within the pump.

  • Patent number: 6116220
Abstract: A fuel injection pump, with an injection adjusting piston that serves to adjust the onset of injection, in which due to an off-center coupling to a cam part of the cam drive of a fuel injection pump embodied as a distributing injection pump, the injection adjusting piston is subjected to tilting moments during operation. In addition, the injection adjusting piston is subjected to other forces by means of a radially produced pressure fluid supply on a side of the injection adjusting piston disposed essentially opposite the coupling, and these other forces, together with the tilting moment forces, produce high, one-sided pressure loads in the radial direction on the injection adjusting piston. By producing a second pressure field, the injection adjusting piston undergoes a compensation of the above-mentioned forces acting on the injection adjusting piston and consequently experiences a significantly reduced radial load.

  • Patent number: 6116870
Abstract: A high pressure pump which has a working chamber, which on the one hand, is connected to a low pressure circuit via a solenoid valve and on the other hand, is connected to a high pressure reservoir via a check valve. The solenoid valve has a spring-loaded closing body, which cooperates with a valve seat and together with it, constitutes the check valve. When the magnet is without current, the check function of the closing body is switched off via a valve tappet of the solenoid valve so that even with an initial working stroke of the high pressure pump, the connection to the low pressure circuit is maintained. Only with a supply of current to the solenoid valve executed during the working stroke does the valve tappet allow the closing body to contact its valve seat, whereupon the high pressure delivery then begins. The high pressure pump is designated for use in fuel injection systems of diesel motor vehicle engines.

  • Patent number: 6113066
Abstract: The valve has a seat valve with a hollow cone-shaped valve seat (28) and a closing member in the form of a segment of a ball. The valve seat is centrally fed by an influx bore that communicates with a pressure fluid inlet. A tappet that has the closing member is engaged by a magnet armature that acts on the seat valve in the closing direction and by a restoring spring that acts on it in the opening direction. The valve, which is embodied as an on-off valve, can be controlled in stable intermediary positions because of the following measures: the sealing diameter of the valve seat has at least 1.3 times the diameter of the influx bore; the cone angle of the valve seat is at most 110.degree.

  • Patent number: 6105553
Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating an internal combustion engine in which in the event of erroneous fuel injection, combustion is maintained following the expansion stroke via a constantly hot spot in the combustion chamber, in such a way that erroneously introduced fuel is combusted, by reducing the oxygen content in the combustion chamber, such that no later than by the end of the compression stroke of the engine, a possible conversion of existing fuel and existing oxygen can no longer occur to any substantial extent, because of the heating of the contents of the combustion chamber toward the end of the compression stroke, thus preventing this malfunction from destroying the engine.

  • Patent number: 6098675
Abstract: An apparatus for metering and dispensing powder into hard gelatin capsules or the like including an incrementally rotated product container. Bores that cooperate with stuffing dies and transfer dies are formed on the bottom of the product container. A repelling element is disposed in the region of the transfer die. Because of the special shape of the product container, an interstice is formed between the repelling element and a wall portion of the product container; the effect of the interstice is that the bores following the repelling element are adequately supplied with powder. The apparatus according to the invention has high metering accuracy and high output.

  • Patent number: 6098596
Abstract: A process for operating an internal combustion engine in which in the event of an incorrect fuel injection, the combustion chamber of the engine is discharged toward the injection side by way of a pressure valve in such a way that by introducing burned exhaust gases into the combustion chamber in lieu of fresh atmospheric oxygen, the combustion is interrupted despite or precisely due to an excess of injected fuel present. The resultant impairment of the drive output is used as a signal to trigger an interruption of the fuel supply or to shut off the engine. This prevents a destruction of the engine as a result of a malfunction of the injection.
