  • Patent number: 4884542
Abstract: In a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines for motor vehicles, a damping device is provided to eliminate so-called vehicle bucking. The device allows rapid adjusting movements of an rpm adjusting lever, which is connected to the driving lever, to affect the supply quantity setting of the fuel injection pump only with a delay. To this end, the damping device has a damping chamber defined by a damping cylinder and a damping piston displaceable therein. The damping chamber communicates with the pump interior via two parallel throttles and via counter-parallel check valves located in series with the parallel throttles. The damping piston is connected to a damper lever on which the rpm adjusting lever is supported via a pre-stressed drag spring.

  • Patent number: 4884543
Abstract: Fuel injection pump having a pump piston including a working space that is connected via a check valve with a reservoir closed off by a movable wall. A control line leads from this reservoir to a regulating cylinder. An adjustable regulating member is displaceably disposed in this regulating cylinder, permitting adjustment of the fuel quantity control slide according to the position of the regulating member. The subject of the invention achieves a simple construction for a fuel injection pump, for which only a small amount of drive power is required.

  • Patent number: 4882976
Abstract: A brake booster in which a servo piston is slidably supported in a housing. The transmission of a brake force is effected via a piston rod protruding into the housing, and a work chamber is formed between the piston rod and the servo piston. After the opening of a valve, this work chamber can be filled with brake fluid from a reservoir or supply container via a pump or the like. A return line also leads out of the work chamber back to the supply container, via a further valve. To improve the closing or sealing behavior of the valves, the first valve is to be embodied for admitting the brake fluid from a valve cone, or its shoulder, the valve cone extending axially in a blind bore of the servo piston, and a valve seat formed out of a valve bushing. The second valve is likewise embodied as a seat valve, and an element connected with the valve cone cooperates with an element connected with the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 4883088
Abstract: In known pressure regulating apparatus, the pressure regulating valve placed in a holder is provided with a plunge-cut sealing groove for receiving a sealing ring. A filter is also disposed inside the pressure regulating valve. The novel embodiment of the pressure regulating apparatus is intended to make it easier to embody and install the seal between the holder and the pressure regulating valve. To avoid a plunge cut on the bottom part of the valve housing of the pressure regulating valve, the bottom part is provided with a step, defining one side of a sealing groove, while the sealing groove bottom is formed by a restriction extending as far as one end face of the bottom part. The sealing ring is defined on the other side by a ring, which is placed upon the restriction, and being connected with a filter disk extending radially inward and serves as a retaining means for the filter disk.

  • Patent number: 4879984
Abstract: To reduce the construction expense and the space required for a fuel injection pump for supplying a plurality of cylinders of an engine, in particular an internal combustion engine having externally supplied ignition, a fuel injection pump including a drive shaft with a single common cam drives a plurality of pump plungers. The supply quantity is controlled via a rotary slide and a subsequent common distributor delivers the fuel to the injection nozzles at the injection sites of the engine. The quantity of fuel injected is effected by an electrically controlled valve seated in a relief line that branches off downstream of the rotary slide, which by closure of the relief line determines the injection phase.

  • Patent number: 4873956
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having an electromagnetic final control element, which in order to adjust the end or onset of injection engages a control slide, located in the pump interior. Via a control shaft, the final control element chamber is hermetically sealed off from the pump interior in order to keep water contained in the fuel from reaching current-carrying parts of the final control element. As a result, fluid communication exists only via the bearing gap of the slide bearing of the control shaft and the bearing gap functions as a throttle. The throttle forms a water separator, which further reduces the concentration of water in the already small quantity of fuel reaching the final control element chamber through the throttle.

  • Patent number: 4872732
Abstract: The proposed vehicle brake system has wheel brakes, a master brake cylinder, an auxiliary pressure source, and a brake booster supplied from it for actuating the master brake cylinder, as well as an apparatus capable of preventing the danger of skidding and limiting drive slip at driven wheels. To prevent the danger of skidding, valves disposed between the master brake cylinder and the wheel brakes are provided by means of which the wheel brakes can be disconnected from the master brake cylinder and connected to a pressure fluid supply container to reduce the brake pressure. For replacing the quantities of pressure fluid diverted into this pressure fluid supply container, the valves are connected to the brake booster. To enable limiting drive slip at driven wheels at little expense for additional valves, valves embodied as 2/2-way valves are connected between the wheel brakes of driven wheels and their associated valves also communicate with the auxiliary pressure source.

  • Patent number: 4870936
Abstract: A fuel injection pump of the distributor type in which a pump piston is driven to reciprocate and rotate simultaneously, thereby acting as a distributer. For fuel injection quantity regulation, an annular slide that is displaceable on a pump piston is provided, by way of which the pump work chamber can be relieved. To attain a low injection rate in the idling range, in addition to a first outlet opening, controlled by an upper edge of the annular slide, second outlet openings axially offset from the first are provided, for a relief conduit of the pump work chamber which cooperate with a radial control opening, which communicates with the pump suction chamber and is disposed in the wall of the annular slide. In the opening direction of this control opening, a groove provided with a throttle is provided, by way of which during idling operation, prior to the opening of the first relief opening, fuel can flow out of the pump piston in order to decrease the pumping rate of the pump piston.

  • Patent number: 4869506
Abstract: A mechanical puzzle has a three by three array four gear units at the corners and five split gears. Opposed faces of the gear units and split gears are visible through a transparent casing and apertures in the chassis. • Patent number: 4869562
Abstract: A magnetic valve with a connection device is proposed, in which the housing is rotatable relative to the connection device, which encompasses a connector stub formed onto the housing. Embodying the connection device as a male fitting enables the alignment of the housing and the cable plug located on it, which is especially useful when the magnetic valve is installed in a wheel connection of a master brake cylinder. In another version, in which the connector stub is connected to the connection device positively with a snap-in ring, the magnetic valve can be inserted even at inaccessible locations. If the connection device is embodied as part of a brake cylinder, then the magnetic valve can be inserted directly, and the result is a connection that is secure against manipulation.

  • Patent number: 4868752
Abstract: A method and apparatus for use with an automatic working vehicle for detecting a boundary between a treated area and an untreated area. A predetermined range of working area including the treated area and the untreated area is photographed by a camera. Image data output from the camera is differentiated with respect to pixel to pixel brightness variations, which is then compared with a threshold value to produce edge image data on an X-Y plane showing, as binarized, a plurality of pixels regarded as representing a point of transition between the untreated area and the treated area, and other pixels. The boundary is calculated from the edge image data by means of HOUGH-transformation.
