  • Patent number: 4721281
Abstract: An actuating device is proposed which is used to adjust a throttle valve disposed in the intake tube of an internal combustion engine. The actuating device includes a gas pedal adapted to engage an actuating lever, which is supported rotatably relative to a throttle valve shaft, so as to pivot counter to the force of a restoring spring. Connected to the actuating lever is a follow-up drawing spring, which is secured with one end to an intermediate lever provided with a cam disk having a curved camming surface which surface a lever arm is supported so as to operate a damper element. The intermediate lever is rotatably supported with respect to the throttle valve shaft and with a coupling stop engages a throttle valve lever, which is connected to the throttle valve shaft such that relative rotation between them is prevented. The throttle valve lever is drawn against the coupling stop by means of an uncoupling spring disposed between the intermediate lever and the throttle valve lever.

  • Patent number: 4718391
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines has a pump piston, defining a pump work chamber for generating an injection pressure; an electromagnetic control device for fixing the duration of supply during the supply stroke of the pump piston and a measuring device, which measures the return flow fuel quantity that did not attain injection during the supply stroke of the pump piston and emits an electronic return flow quantity signal (Q.sub.R). An electronic control unit imposes control signals (.phi..sub..mu.V) upon the control device as a function of the return flow quantity signal (Q.sub.R) and operating characteristics of the engine. To attain highly accurate closed-loop control of the fuel injection quantity, a fluctuation detector is provided, which detects fluctuations in the return flow quantity signal and emits the appearance of fluctuations over time in the form of detection signals (.phi..sub.A, .phi..sub.E, .phi..sub.1 -.phi..sub.4).

  • Patent number: 4718385
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, of the distributor type, having a reciprocating and simultaneously rotating pump piston as well as a governor slide adjustable relative thereto as a function of load, the injection quantity at any time being dimensioned on the basis of the position of the governor slide. For controlling an exhaust gas recirculation valve as a function of the load range or the particular injection quantity, the injection pump has a pressure switch for controlling an electrical signal in the partial-load range. The pressure switch can be made to communicate with the pressure-carrying suction chamber via a line in the housing and a conduit in the pump piston, the inlet of which conduit is controlled by the governor slide such that it is opened only whenever the outlet of a relief conduit is closed by the governor slide.

  • Patent number: 4717080
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems is proposed. The valve includes a valve housing and a first connection pipe serving as the core, which is surrounded by a magnetic coil. A second connection pipe is disposed inside the first connection pipe and with it forms a flow cross section for the inflowing fuel, which via the flow conduit can flow into an interior chamber of the valve housing surrounding the magnetic coil and from there can flow via a connecting line into a fuel chamber surrounding a nozzle needle, this chamber being defined by a guide bore in the nozzle body as well as by an injection port at one end and by an armature on the other. A bypass bore is provided in a head of the nozzle needle leading from this fuel chamber to an inner bore of the armature. This inner bore is open toward the second connection pipe so that at least a partial quantity of fuel is capable of flowing back via the second connection pipe.

  • Patent number: 4715662
Abstract: A method for ascertaining an optimal slip value .lambda. at at least one wheel of a vehicle, in order to be able to regulate the braking force optimally. To this end, at least the wheel speed is measured, and the vehicle speed is ascertained. By varying the braking pressure and the slip during driving, signal combinations for the wheel speed, the vehicle speed, the braking pressure and the tire/road contact force are ascertained and inserted into a given function V.sub.R (K+1). For the resultant equation system, the coefficients .alpha..sub.n can then be ascertained from which the coefficients a.sub.n of a general description of the .mu. slip curve can be ascertained. With these coefficients a.sub.n, the .mu. slip curve and its maximum, from which the optimal slip .lambda. can then be ascertained, are then clearly defined.

  • Patent number: 4715224
Abstract: A device which serves to measure the mass of a flowing medium, in particular the mass of the air aspirated by an internal combustion engine. The device includes a substrate on the bottom and top of which there is disposed a respective temperature-dependent resistor electrically connected in parallel and preferably embodied as a film, on both sides of which at peripheral areas low-impedance electrical conductor tracks are provided. The peripheral areas of the substrate are partially encompassed by U-shaped deformations provided on metallic retainers. The retainers simultaneously serve as electrical connections via soldered areas provided between the U-shaped deformations and the conductor tracks. The retainers protrude into the flow of the medium and have good thermal conductivity, so that they are virtually at the temperature of the flowing medium, and hence the temperature of the peripheral areas is also kept at the temperature of the flowing medium.

  • Patent number: 4714278
Abstract: A plastic housing cover for a valve having an integral connector nozzle part provided with a metal threaded nipple element is proposed, in which it is assured that the threaded element, inserted in a sealing manner into the plastic, cannot destroy the tight connection with the plastic part during the twisting of insertion and possible twisting on the part of the threaded element itself. The threaded element is accordingly given an opportunity at the outset to rotate, while maintaining the tightness of the seal. The threaded nipple element is preferably a hollow threaded connector and the plastic part comprises a cover of a compressed air valve, especially a brake valve.
