  • Patent number: 5162256
Abstract: A multiplicity of thin layers are applied on top of each other having alternately comparatively high concentrations of charge carriers and no doping. • Patent number: 5161499
Abstract: A V-type internal-combustion engine has two banks of cylinders, each with a cylinder-head housing which is covered by cylinder-head cover and, on each end face, by an end cover. Camshafts are driven via chain wheels by a common chain which is led through a free space between the two banks of cylinders in a well housing. To reduce jumps in sealing surfaces which present sealing problems, the well housing is arranged at a distance from the parting planes between the cylinder-head housings and cylinder-head covers and is fastened solely between the cylinder-head housings and the end covers.

  • Patent number: 5160252
Abstract: A fluid displacement machine of the vane type which can be operated as a compressor or motor utilizes a cylindrical rotor equipped with one or more tethered sliding vanes wherein the rotor and vane set is rotatably located eccentrically inside an internal conforming casing profile between opposing endplates to define enclosed variable volume compartments. [Each vane is fitted on opposite sides eith tethers which are pivotally-mounted remotely from the vane tips. The tethers engage, through anti-friction means, circular annuli located within the endplates which are eccentric with the hollow casing profile.] Anti-friction tether-to-annuli means are used, one in the form of freely-rotating caged roller bearings interposed between the tethers and the respective internal annuli, and another in the form of tethers equipped with trunnioned bearings which directly engage these internal annular surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5160562
Abstract: A process for producing a hollow composite-fiber body from wound fibers, running in a plurality of directions and embedded in a curable or fusible plastics composition, having at least one lug integrated without any interruption into the fiber-composite and protruding from the hollow fiber-composite body. This process includes forming a plastics-impregnated and circumferentially continuously wound jacket by winding one layer over the other on a shaping core a plurality of layers of at least one prepreg web having web-bound, crossing groups of parallel-running fibers. The lug is shaped and secured by a support corresponding to a set-up lug shape and which protrudes during winding from the shaping core. Immediately after the running on of the prepreg web onto the shaping core or the wound body which is forming, into the prepreg web for each separate layer a lug free cut is made that corresponds to the position and contour of the respective lug.

  • Patent number: 5160293
Abstract: An air guide box, particularly for installation in motor vehicles, has a part permanently located in a holder and a removable cover part for the replacement of, for example, an air filter insert. Actuating elements are fastened to the removable cover part and each of which operates an air butterfly also supported in the removable cover part. In order to avoid having to release specifically conduit connections required for the control of the actuating elements during the removal of the removable cover part, the conduit connections are run in sections in a wall of the removable cover part and of the permanently located part, respectively. A plug-in connection is provided in the joint between the two parts of the box, and is separated during the removal of the removable cover part and joined together again when the cover part is replaced. The removable cover part can be configured as a frame for adjustable plates of a cooling air guide on a fan.

  • Patent number: 5158014
Abstract: An apparatus for the apportioning and dispensing of fibrous goods, particularly of sauerkraut, is disclosed. The apparatus for the dispensing of fibrous goods which are first mixed with a liquid ensures a precise maintaining of a certain weight of the goods which are drained by the apparatus. According to the invention, it is suggested to provide sieve walls in the form of travelling sieve belts between which a progressively drained strand of fibrous goods is formed. The strand can then be cut into portions. The new apparatus may be used for the apportioning of sauerkraut.

  • Patent number: 5159329
Abstract: A remote control system having of one or more independent transmitters transmitting code words to a receiver, wherein the code word includes an unalterable code portion, transmitted upon each code transmission together with a code portion which is variable in accordance with a predetermined algorithm, being stored in object-specific fashion both in each transmitter and in the receiver fixed to the object. A synchronizing procedure between a transmitter and the receiver, which can in any case only be carried out in dependence on a mechanical key restriction, is only possible if the individual object-specific code portion of the respective transmitter has been stored and is retrievable in the receiver.

  • Patent number: 5157376
Abstract: Monitoring of trailer indicator lights includes a flasher pulse generator provided for generating, upon the switching on of a direction signalling switch, fixed pulse frequencies which can be changed over as a function of deviations of the load connected to the flasher pulse generator from its nominal load. The monitoring is carried out without requiring a change over of the flasher pulse generator to a "trailer mode" of operation. When the trailer is electrically connected, and upon the failure of one of the trailer indicator lights which are to be switched on and operated via a separate voltage supply at the frequency of the flasher pulse generator, one of the indicator lights of the towing vehicle is isolated from the electrical load of the flasher pulse generator. As a result of this simulated light failure, the frequency generated by the flasher pulse generator is changed over the imminent generation of a control signal to the vehicle driver.

  • Patent number: 5156116
Abstract: A method and apparatus is described for controlling the air supply in an internal combustion engine, in which, below a predetermined limiting value for the speed of the internal combustion engine, the air is drawn in via at least two long resonant intake pipes, each of which opens into in each case one of two partial collecting volumes of a resonant collecting receiver, the volumes being separated from one another via a separating element. Above the predetermined limiting speed, the two partial collecting volumes are connected to one another by opening the separating element. In order to be able to achieve a higher torque characteristic not only in the low and middle speed range but also in the high speed range, it is proposed to open the cross-section of a short intake pipe which connects the intake line to the resonant collecting receiver, this opening being performed simultaneously with the opening of the separating element.

  • Patent number: 5157609
Abstract: In order to adapt the shifting characteristics of an electrohydraulically controlled, automatically shifting transmission continuously to the dirver's driving style or to a just existing or real time traffic situation, the driving speed (v), the lateral acceleration (aq), the longitudinal acceleration (alb), the longitudinal deceleration (alv) and the engine rotational speed (nmot) in addition to the throttle valve position alpha, are detected and by way of characteristic diagrams and a linking function are added to form a parameter from which, by filtering, a driving activity is determined. This driving activity is finally used for the selection of a shifting program from a plurality of shifting programs ranging from a consumption-optimized shifting program (SKF1) to a power-optimized shifting program (SKF5).

  • Patent number: 5154352
Abstract: A propelling nozzle for an aircraft engine has an interior shroud of high thermal conductivity which is penetrated by a number of cooling ducts and is surrounded from the outside by a solid support shroud. A cast-in intermediate layer is provided between the interior shroud and the support shroud. This has the advantage that manufacturing tolerances of the interior shroud and of the support shroud may be compensated. Only very minimal demands must be made on the accuracy of shaping the interior shroud and the support shroud.

  • Patent number: 5154154
Abstract: An intake device for a mixture-compressing internal-combustion engine has a heating element for heating the injected fuel downstream of an injection nozzle in the intake channel in order to avoid formation of fuel condensate which is harmful in the exhaust emission. The heating elements are configured in plate form and directed at an angle towards the injected fuel jet such that, on one hand, there is a good heating and, on the other hand, there is a low flow resistance by the heating elements. The plate heating element can be integrated in a flush and heat-insulating manner in the wall of the intake channel. By virtue of the low flow resistance which a plate-like heating element arranged obliquely in the fuel/air mixture flow produces, the heating surface can be made larged and consequently a rapid fuel heating can be achieved.
