  • Patent number: 7031412
Abstract: A digital signal processing apparatus has an A/D converter, a digital filter, and an anti-aliasing circuit. The digital filter attenuates a frequency component within a preventing area by performing half-band processing to sampling data of a digital output which is outputted by the A/D converter. The anti-aliasing circuit measures a period of a sign signal which is outputted by the digital filter and, when the period of the sign signal is smaller than a threshold, the anti-aliasing circuit subjects the output of the digital filter to a shift operation in an LSB direction by the number of bits and outputs the processed signal. Thus, the sign signal outputted by the digital filter, which is subjected to the half-band processing, is used to realize a simple circuit for suppressing or removing aliasing noise caused by the half-band processing, with low costs.

  • Patent number: 7026151
Abstract: In view of the increase in the number of cases with nephropathy in aged animals of the cat family, the invention provides a marker for early diagnosis of feline nephropathy which can substitute for the conventional complicated methods of diagnosing nephropathy such as blood examination, kidney radiography using a contrast medium, and ultrasonic image analysis. It was found that cats with nephropathy show markedly lowered levels of excretion of a novel protein (named cauxin) with a molecular weight of 70 K, which is excreted into urine in high concentrations in normal adult cats showing no clinical abnormality. When the protein is used as a marker in diagnosing feline nephropathy, feline nephropathy can be detected in a simple and exact manner.

  • Patent number: 7027121
Abstract: At least one out of two substrates constituting a liquid crystal display device is formed from a plastic substrate. When attaching the plastic substrate to an opposing substrate that is disposed to face the plastic substrate, the plastic substrate and the support substrate are attached to each other without interposing an adhesive therebetween. That is, the plastic substrate is pressed against and attached to the support substrate under vacuum conditions. This prevents air from entering between the plastic substrate and the support substrate. Accordingly, the plastic substrate is able to maintain its flatness and therefore, the two substrates are spaced a uniform distance apart from each other, i.e., fabricated to maintain a constant cell gap therebetween as desired even after the plastic substrate and the opposing substrate are attached to each other via the sealing material.

  • Patent number: 6999115
Abstract: An image taking apparatus, which can reduce the power consumption of the total system of the image taking apparatus without deteriorating image quality when an image is displayed on a liquid crystal display (LCD), is provided. In the image taking apparatus, the quantization bit number at an analog to digital (A/D) converter and the signal processing bit number at a digital signal processor (DSP) are variable. With this, at an LCD displaying mode that video signals are displayed on the LCD, the quantization bit number at the A/D converter is reduced and also the signal processing bit number at the DSP is reduced to the same bit number at the A/D converter. With this operation, at the LCD displaying mode, the power consumption at the A/D converter and the DSP is reduced, therefore the power consumption of the total system of the image taking apparatus is largely reduced.

  • Patent number: 6995814
Abstract: In a flat panel display device, in which a display panel 1 loosely fitted on a main surface of a chassis 4 and circuit substrates held in hook portions provided on side surfaces of the chassis are connected each other through TCP's by bending the latter TCP's, and a method for manufacturing the same device, a main slit for a rounded portion of each TCP is formed in a rounded portion of the TCP and an auxiliary sub slit is also formed adjacent to the main slit. In order to reduce the peeling force exerted on connecting/fixing portions between the TCP's and the display panel, the circuit substrate is pulled up by bending the main and sub slits and then returning the sub slit to a flat state to insert the circuit substrate into the hook portions.
