Abstract: In order to obtain long time stability and usefulness for gas sensitive field-effect devices a micro structured surface is obtained below the final conducting layer. The conductive layer in the trenches or grooves will not only be protected to some extent but also they can constitute a conductive net with edges or boundaries that will remain essentially unchanged even if material is continuously lost along the borderline. The structure can be obtained in the layer laying directly below the conductive layer or in deeper lying layers with intermediate layers with even thickness.
Abstract: A vehicle area detector correctly detects a vehicle area. The vehicle area detector detects a vehicle area in a vehicle candidate area having a high probability of existence of a vehicle in an image produced by imaging means mounted on a vehicle.
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit device is implemented by circuit components and a multi-layered wiring structure, and titanium nitride is used for a part of the integrated circuit such as a conductive plug, an accumulating electrode and a conductive line, wherein the titanium nitride layer is laminated on a titanium silicide layer so as to absorb thermal stress due to the titanium nitride layer.
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit device, which is driven using Vd1 supplied to external power supply terminal 3 and which includes internal circuit 10 with desired functions, such as a CPU, comprises step-up circuit 13, which steps up Vd1 at a predetermined step-up ratio k and outputs Vd2 (=k×Vd1); and voltage detecting circuit 15, which is driven using Vd2 as a power supply and which compares a predetermined Vref1 to Vd3 (=a×Vd2) given by dividing Vd2 with dividing ratio a and outputs the resultant Vcp1. In addition, the semiconductor integrated circuit device with the voltage detecting circuit that can detect the power supply voltage accurately and surely even if the power supply voltage provided externally falls to 1 V or lower, comprises oscillation circuit 19 and level shift circuit 17, which is driven using Vd1 as a power supply and which changes the Vcp1 level and outputs Vcp2.
Abstract: A clock control circuit includes a multiphase clock generating circuit receiving an output signal of a input buffer for generating multiphase clocks; a selector circuit receiving multiphase clocks output from the multiphase clock generating circuit for selecting one of the multiphase clocks; a first variable delay circuit for delaying the output of the selector circuit; a clock buffer dummy receiving the output signal of the variable delay circuit; a phase comparator circuit for detecting a phase difference between an output from the multiphase clock generating circuit and an output of the clock buffer dummy; and a filter for smoothing the output of the phase comparator circuit. The first variable delay circuit has its delay time varied by the output of the filter.
Abstract: A method of fabricating a circular-shaped metal structure, includes the steps of (a) rotating a pipe around an axis thereof, the pipe being composed of a plastic-workable metal, and (b) applying drawing to an outer wall of the pipe with the pipe being kept rotated, to reduce a wall thickness of the pipe and lengthen a wall of the pipe. A resultant circular-shaped metal structure fabricated by the method could have a thickness equal to or smaller than 0.09 mm.
Abstract: In a semiconductor device that uses a low-resistance ohmic contact and which is suitable for high-speed operation, the ohmic contacts are formed by a single-crystal CoSi2 film that is formed on the (100) surface of a silicon substrate.
Abstract: A spinel-type LiMn secondary cell has an electrode unit including a positive electrode sheet made mainly of aluminum and coated with a positive electrode active material including lithium and manganese as indispensable constituents. The electrode unit is mounted in a cell casing as a negative electrode by an insulating assembly. A positive electrode member is made of an aluminum alloy with manganese mixed therewith for increased mechanical strength. Since manganese mixed with the aluminum alloy of the positive electrode member is an indispensable constituent of the positive electrode active material, it does not cause an unwanted chemical reaction such as electrolytic corrosion.
Abstract: A nasal and pharyngeal spray solution for use in spraying into the nose and mouth to protect the mucosa from noxious viruses, bacteria and fungi and excessive drying, in situations of high risk, such as the cabins of commercial aircraft, comprises a saline solution of Proanthocyanidins and ascorbic acid. The “fresh mix” delivery system is an appropriately closed, sterile, oxygen-excluding, pressurized container.
Abstract: Disorders are diagnosed by analyzing biological samples of ad libitum-fed and dietary-restricted individuals to generate frequency distribution patterns representative of molecular constituents of the samples, and comparing the patterns.

Abstract: An automatic parts placement system is provided which is capable of placing parts in proper positions, in a short time, on a printed wiring board to realize the shortest total wiring length. Parts are each added to a parts group which is generated based on a position designated part and parts specific gravity of the part is determined. The heavier parts specific gravity of part is placed in the closer position relative to the position designated part, by applying actual specific gravity in physical phenomenon.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating an aqueous-containing sludge in which the sludge is filtered on an elongate moving sheet of a water permeable unwoven fabric on paper. The moving sheet is folded and compressed between rollers whereby to express water therefrom. The folded moving sheet and contained sludge is dried, and the dried sheet and sludge is incinerated. Combustion heat from the incineration step is used in the drying step.
Abstract: In a plural line buffer type memory LSI, a line selection register 16 (holding an address for designating a line buffer) is added. The value of the line selection register 16 is previously updated by a memory access instruction having a room in an address. Thus, it is possible to maintain compatibility with input/output terminals of a general purpose memory LSI, or to prevent the increase in the number of input/output terminals, and also to prevent the increase of the memory access delay attributable to the restriction in connection with the issue of the commands. Accordingly, it is possible to maintain the compatibility with the general purpose memory LSI having no line buffer, or alternatively to prevent the increase of the memory access delay attributable to a restriction in an interval for issuing the commands.
Abstract: A battery clamp for being connected to a battery contact comprises a connecting lug, a contact ring which is provided with a slot so as to form two opposite clamping ends, and a spring which engages the clamping ends of the contact ring. The battery clamp further comprises a blocking wedge which can be shifted between a contact position in which it releases the clamping ends such that the spring can pull the clamping ends together, a mounting position in which it keeps the clamping ends of the contact ring to be spread apart such that the battery clamp can be placed on the battery contact, and a pull-off position in which it spreads the clamping ends of the contact ring to a larger degree than in the mounting position such that the battery clamp can be pulled off from the battery contact.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a solid single crystal of an electrically conductive material by pulling from a molten mass of this material, the material presenting atom clusters at melt. The method includes: a melt stage so as to obtain a molten mass, the melt stage procuring a colder zone of the molten mass, from which the single crystal will be pulled, and a hotter zone having sufficient temperature to melt the atom clusters; a stage of application to the molten mass of a rotating magnetic field allowing the atom clusters to be displaced from the colder zone to the hotter zone; and a stage of growth by pulling of the single crystal after the atom clusters have been displaced from the colder zone to the hotter zone.
Abstract: The invention discloses a method for preparing Coons patches for rendering. The Coons patch is examined for folds and any regions containing folds are isolated from regions that do not contain folds. The rendering method appropriate for fold containing and non-fold containing regions can then be selected. The rendering method appropriate for fold containing regions requires extensive computation compared to that for non-fold containing regions. By isolating the regions containing folds, the invention allows the avoidance of the extensive computation for the non-fold containing regions. Thus, the invention enables reduction of the amount of computation that is required during rendering.
