Abstract: A power circuit is provided which is capable of improving use efficiency of a chemical cell.
When a voltage of a capacitor is higher than a reference voltage and a voltage obtained by converting a load current flowing through a load into a voltage is lower than another reference voltage, the voltage is applied from a chemical cell to the capacitor, causing the capacitor to be charged and the voltage and power accumulated in the capacitor are fed to the load. When a voltage obtained by conversion of the load current is larger than another reference value, only the power accumulated in the capacitor is fed to the load. When a voltage of a capacitor is lower than a reference voltage and a voltage obtained by conversion of the load current is lower than another reference value, a current whose level is limited to a predetermined level is fed from the chemical cell to the capacitor and the voltage of the chemical cell is applied to the load.
Abstract: Described is a polymer optical fiber including a section having a circular cross-section and a section having a non-circular cross-section. Also described are optical components containing such an optical fiber, as well as a method of fabricating such an optical fiber.

Abstract: In an LCD, there is used a GH-mode liquid crystal of which change in transmittivity due to variation in gap thickness is less than that of the conventional TN liquid crystal. A tablet facility is directly arranged or electrodes having the function of the tablet are formed over or below the liquid crystal. Thanks to the structure, this protection plate conventionally required to prevent the change in gap thickness resulting due to pressure of a pen input device applied to the LCD can be eliminated. Consequently, it is possible to reduce weight, volume, and parallax of the LCD. An active matrix LCD with integrated table-type input device is attainable in a simple configuration without increasing weight and volume thereof.
Abstract: A core section complementary transistor and a memory cell section complementary transistor are formed on a semiconductor substrate of a first conductivity type. The core section complementary transistor has a first well of a second conductivity type provided in the semiconductor substrate, a first core section MOS transistor provided on the first well of the second conductivity type, a second core section MOS transistor provided on the semiconductor substrate a device separation film which separates the first core section MOS transistor and the second core section MOS transistor from each other, and a well of the first conductivity type provided under a part of the device separation film which is closer to the second core section MOS transistor. The first core section MOS transistor has source-drain regions of the first conductivity type. The second core section MOS transistor has source-drain regions of the second conductivity type.

Abstract: A photonic crystal comprises a plurality of elongated elements formed of a first dielectric material and arranged in a two-dimensional periodic honeycomb lattice. A second dielectric material surrounds the elongated elements and extending between them. The second dielectric material defines between the elongated elements a plurality of spaces filled with a third dielectric material. The first dielectric material has permittivity that is greater than permittivity of the second dielectric material and permittivity of the third dielectric material.
Abstract: A semiconductor device provided with a field effect transistor having a electrode pads for wire-bonding comprises a first electrode pad for wire-bonding directly connected with the field effect transistor, and a second electrode pad for wire-bonding connected with the field effect transistor via a resistor. According to the semiconductor device, a chip used in the field effect transistor can be used in different frequencies by changing bonding.
Abstract: In a semiconductor device fabricating process, a copper-based metal film is formed on an insulating layer, and an insulating film is formed on the copper-based metal film. A patterned resist film is formed on the insulating film, and the insulating film is dry-etched using the patterned resist film as a mask to form a hole penetrating through the insulating film. Thereafter, a plasma treatment using an non-oxidizing gas is carried out, and furthermore, a wet treatment using a resist remover liquid is carried out, for removing the resist film and a resist surface hardened layer which was generated in the dry-etching.
Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic heads suitable for high density recording which comprises an ID head where a CoNiFe film or a CoNiFeX film is formed by a physical vapor deposition method and further a plated film of CoNiFe etc. is formed while avoiding vanishment of a seed layer. The ID head shows high reliability and high production efficiency. The upper magnetic pole of the ID head is composed of a laminated layers of a first magnetic layer 13 of a CoNiFe film or a CoNiFeX film which is formed by a physical vapor deposition method, a second magnetic layer 14 of NiFe layer composing a seed layer laminated thereon, and a third magnetic layer 11 of CoNiFe plated film etc. further laminated on the second layer.
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring an electrostatic charge includes a conductive plate a voltage source a first switch for connecting the conductive plate to the voltage source or to the ground potential and an insulator membrane arranged on the conductive plate upon a sample element is to be placed. A conductive grounded plate is arranged parallel to the conductive plate, and a conductive probe is secured to the grounded plate through an insulator material for picking up the electrostatic charge induced in the sample element from the surface of the sample element. A coulomb meter with a first electrode is connected to the grounded plate for indicating the quantity of the electrostatic charge. Completing the apparatus is a second switch for connecting the probe to the second electrode of the coulomb meter or the grounded plate.
Abstract: BPF having a band width of |reference signal fREF-mixer output signal fMIX OUT| is connected to a phase comparator. When an output signal corresponding to the passage of this band width has been obtained, a changeover switch is turned OFF. Upon detection such that the PLL circuit is unlockable, an output signal is obtained from an offset differential pair circuit, the changeover switch is turned ON, and the time constant of LPF is reduced to shorten the lock-up time, and the voltage applied to VCO is made larger than the usual voltage. By virtue of this construction, a PLL circuit of an analog system can be realized which can shorten the lock-up time and, in addition, can reduce noise and spurious harmonics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a control process for a structure with field effect elements, the structure comprising a cathode (1) equipped with field effect elements, an anode (2), an extraction grid (7) and an additional grid (14). The process comprises at least one phase in which electrons are emitted to the anode by field effect elements, and at least one regeneration phase during which the electrons output from the elements are not transmitted to the anode. The regeneration phase is implemented by applying an electron blocking voltage (VB) to the additional grid (14) such that electrons drop back to the cathode.
The invention is applicable to flat image display screens and any device comprising a field effect cathode (x-ray tube, etc.).
Abstract: The electrometer includes an external electrical conductor, a surface electrometer, an inner electrical conductor, an amplifier circuit, and a control section. The external electrical conductor has a first section for probing an electric potential of an object of interest and a second section adapted for contacting said object. The surface electrometer detects a potential of the first section. The inner electrical conductor is isolated from the external electrical conductor, supports the surface electrometer and shields it from an external electric field. The amplifier circuit converts the output of the surface electrometer into a low-impedance signal and amplifies it. The control section computes the electrical potential of the object based on the output of the amplifier circuit. The first section is configured to adapt to a measurement by the surface electrometer.
Abstract: A data transfer control apparatus is disclosed for controlling conflict of data transfer on a data bus connected to a microprocessor through a bridge circuit. The bridge circuit includes a monitoring unit. When an execution instruction for MPC transfer is issued during DMA transfer, the monitoring unit measures a time period over which the data bus is to be occupied with the MPC transfer. When the PCI bus is to be occupied with the MPC transfer for a predetermined time period, the monitoring unit does not suspend the DMA transfer but performs the MPC transfer after the completion of the DMA transfer.
Abstract: An IC test system includes a socket having a plurality of contact pins, a positioning member for positioning an IC package for testing, a carriage arm for transferring the IC package positioned by the positioning member to the socket. The socket, positioning member and the carriage arm are fixed to the base of the test system via a common base plate. Vibration caused by the carriage arm is commonly transferred to the socket and the positioning member, whereby a suitable alignment of IC package with respect to the socket can be obtained.
Abstract: Model creation is executed using a CAD tool, and a delay model and an area model having area information for a functional block estimated from technology-independent logical information is directly created without creating a netlist. A floorplan arranges the area model in functional blocks created through model creation processing in an intended chip size frame and carries out wiring thereof, and estimates validity for the chip size and extracts resistance (R) and parasitic capacitance (C) of wiring around the area model at the same time. Static timing analysis uses the delay model and the wiring RC information created in functional blocks to extract critical paths at a chip level with a CAD tool.
