  • Patent number: 4740413
Abstract: A thermoplastic polyolefin substrate, preferably polyethylene or polypropylene, is joined to an ethylene-propylene polymer, preferably an ethylene-propylene-diene elastomer, by first locally preheating only selected portions of the surface of the thermoplastic substrate while maintaining the rest of the surface and of the substrate at a substantially lower temperature, then applying to substantially the entire surface of the substrate an unvulcanized layer of the ethylene-propylene polymer, and finally heating the elastomer layer and thermoplastic substrate to the vulcanization temperature of the polymer to vulcanize and/or cross-link same and to unitarily bond the layer and substrate together on the surface at the selected portions thereof but not on the surface between the selected portions. Thereafter the polymer layer and thermoplastic substrate are cured by cooling. A filter plate for a press filter can be made with this method.

  • Patent number: 4738754
Abstract: An aqueous effluent is supplied to a stripping column (total stripping column) from which a mixture that is rich in NH.sub.3, CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2 S is withdrawn as a head product. In at least one additional stripping column the mixture is separated into a mixture which is rich in NH.sub.3 and a mixture which is rich in the sour gaes CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2 S. The mixture which is rich in NH.sub.3 is scrubbed with liquid ammonia. The overhead product from the total stripping column is cooled in a condenser under a pressure of 1 to 7 bars and is thus transformed into a liquid phase to such an extent that the liquid phase contains 70 to 100% of the NH.sub.3 which has been supplied to the condenser. The liquid phase is supplied at a temperature of 30.degree. to 90.degree. C. to a second stripping column (NH.sub.3 stripping column), which is operated under a pressure of 1 to 4 bars and from which a gas mixture that is rich in NH.sub.3 is withdrawn as a head product.

  • Patent number: 4738387
Abstract: The invention is concerned with the design of processing stations for the processing, by welding technology, of semi-finished vehicle body subassemblies (5) within the framework of a flexible manufacturing system. Thereby, frame-like work piece carriers (1) with support members (4) are used for loose positioning of components of the subassemblies (5), where the work piece carriers (1) are also capable of accepting differently configured subassemblies. The transfer line (9) is not planned as a single line, but includes only the input station (10), the work position (6) and the output station (11). Next to these stations (10, 11), storage stations (14) are arrayed, which are connected with one another by a transport system (20) which crosses the transfer line (9). In this manner it is made possible to store the work piece carriers (1) with the processed subassemblies (5) or to bypass the next work station if it is not capable of receiving (a work piece carrier), or is out of order.

  • Patent number: 4738035
Abstract: A drying apparatus for sheets of sliced veneer has two conveyor belts lying one above the other running together jointly around a partially curvilinear, looped path guided by a plurality of guide apparatuses, the belts being positioned so that the sheets may be inserted between the belts for transport in a direction transverse to their widths, wherein the conveyor belts run rectilinearly between at least two of the adjacent guide apparatuses for a distance at least equal to half the maximum width of the sheets fed between the belts. The guide apparatuses may be rotatable cylindrical structures, for example rollers or cylinders, whose axes of rotation preferably all lie in the same horizontal plane. • Patent number: 4738095
Abstract: The process for operation of a spinning or twisting machine calls for a plurality of working units which are concentrated in groups with at least one motor and tangential belt. The spinning or twisting machine has a different total power need based on different total numbers of working units and/or use of working units with different individual power needs. Independently of the total power need of the spinning or twisting machine, all the motors have the same dimensions. The number of motors are selected so that the sum of the nominal power output of the motors at least approximately corresponds to the total power need of the spinning or twisting machine. Each of the motors are associated with a number of the working units such that the sum of the individual power need of the working units corresponds at least approximately to the nominal power of the motor.
