  • Patent number: 6841808
Abstract: An AlN layer having a surface of a texture structure is formed on a sapphire substrate. Then, a growth suppressing material layer is formed on the AlN layer so that the AlN layer is partially exposed to the outside. Then, group III nitride compound semiconductor layers are grown on the AlN layer and on the growth suppressing material layer by execution of an epitaxial lateral overgrowth method. Thus, a group III nitride compound semiconductor device is produced. An undercoat layer having convex portions each shaped like a truncated hexagonal pyramid is formed on a substrate. Group III nitride compound semiconductor layers having a device function are laminated successively on the undercoat layer.

  • Patent number: 6841890
Abstract: An alignment mark is arranged to be within an image screen and the alignment mark is formed with rectangular patterns having varied dimensions from each other. The signal waveforms from each of the rectangular patterns are measured. The number of the rectangular patterns with normal waveforms is compared to the minimum required number of marks prescribed beforehand. The amount of deviation in alignment is calculated by excluding the abnormal measured result.

  • Patent number: 6839872
Abstract: A media converter allowing a test mode to be activated from cable side and allowing easy detection of a failure and failure location is disclosed. A media converter includes first and second physical-layer interfaces and a memory connected between the first and second physical-layer interfaces to temporarily storing received data. When a trigger signal has been received at one of the first and second physical-layer interfaces, a response signal to the trigger signal is sent from a corresponding physical-layer interface back to a source that transmitted the trigger signal. The trigger signal is one of a specified modulation link signal and a packet having an illegal length that is not permitted in a network to which the media converter belongs.

  • Patent number: 6839068
Abstract: If the main picture's size contained in a picture data file is equal to or smaller than the display's size of a displaying portion, a controlling portion displays the main picture in the display area. If the main picture's size is larger than the display's size and the picture data file does not contain a thumbnail, the controlling portion reduces the main picture's size and displays the reduced main picture. If the main picture's size is larger than the display's size and the thumbnail's size contained in the picture data file is equal to or smaller than the display's size, the controlling portion displays the thumbnail. If the main picture's size is larger than the display's size and the thumbnail's size contained in the picture data file is larger than the display's size, the controlling portion reduces the thumbnail's size and displays the reduced thumbnail.

Abstract: A method and structure for providing secure credit facility transactions for purchasing goods and services over a computer network such as the Internet that stores user's privileged information and other transactional data on the user's own computer. The method includes encryption of all information before or during its storage to the user's hard drive. The method and system includes the ability for the user to complete electronic commerce (e-commerce) transactions without revealing certain of the encrypted information, such as credit card numbers, to the merchant. The method and system creates and controls sub-accounts on a single credit facility, such as a credit card, with unique user reporting and corresponding password identifiers. The method and system sets and control sub-accounts spending amounts and replenishment periods. The method enables the user to create and control recurring debit accounts on a single credit facility, such as a credit card, over varying transactional periods.

  • Patent number: 6838883
Abstract: In order to monitor a state of a battery, a threshold value of an internal impedance of the battery is first determined. It is prepared an approximate expression indicating a correlation between a residual capacity of the battery and an internal impedance of the battery which is greater than the threshold value. The internal impedance of the battery is then measured. When the measured internal impedance is the threshold value or less, the residual capacity is determined as an initial value. When the measured internal impedance is greater than the threshold value, the residual capacity is monitored with the approximate expression.

  • Patent number: 6839618
Abstract: A center differential limiting control unit calculates and sets a vehicle speed, a target difference in a rotational speed between front and rear axle shafts, a control start difference in the rotational speed, and an actual difference in the rotational speed, respectively. Then, when the actual difference is large than the control start difference, it is determined that a front and rear axle shaft control start condition is established, and front and rear axle shaft differential limiting torque is calculated according to the actual difference and the target difference. In contrast, when the actual difference is smaller than the control start difference, it is determined that the front and rear axle shaft control start condition is not established, and an integral term in the front and rear axle shaft limiting torque and control is set to 0.

  • Patent number: 6834977
Abstract: Separate leads and a common lead are provided on the upper and lower surfaces of a substrate. A plurality of LED elements are disposed in an array on the common lead on the upper surface of the substrate. The common lead provided on the upper surface of the substrate is connected to the common lead provided on the lower surface of the substrate through through-hole plating. Heat generated from the plurality of LED elements is transferred through the common lead provided on the upper surface of the substrate and the through-hole plating to the common lead provided on the lower surface of the substrate and is release therefrom into the air. By virtue of this construction, an light emitting device can be realized in which heat radiating properties are homogenized, heat radiation efficiency is improved, and a compact structure is obtained and, thus, the color balance is improved and unfavorable phenomena such as lowering in the output of light emitting elements and shortening of the service life are avoided.

  • Patent number: 6835966
Abstract: An Al0.15Ga0.85N layer 2 is formed on a silicon substrate 1 in a striped or grid pattern. A GaN layer 3 is formed in regions A where the substrate 1 is exposed and in regions B which are defined above the layer 2. At this time, the GaN layer grows epitaxially and three-dimensionally (not only in a vertical direction but also in a lateral direction) on the Al0.15Ga0.85N layer 2. Since the GaN layer grows epitaxially in the lateral direction as well, a GaN compound semiconductor having a greatly reduced number of dislocations is obtained in lateral growth regions (regions A where the substrate 1 is exposed).
