Abstract: A light control circuit that makes it possible to, when the light intensity of the area surrounding a display screen varies in a relatively short time, prevent the brightness of a backlight from being erroneously adjusted as the result of the variation being detected is provided. The light control circuit controls the backlight of a display panel. This light control circuit is provided with functions of performing the following operation: detection signals from multiple optical sensors are taken into a common sampling means in a time division manner to acquire multiple sampling values temporally dispersed; a surrounding light intensity is determined by majority decision based on the multiple sampling values, and the result of determination is externally outputted.

Abstract: The present invention provides a high speed and low power consumption LSI operable in a wide temperature range in which a MOS transistor having back gates is used specifically according to operating characteristics of a circuit. In the LSI, an FD-SOI structure having an embedded oxide film layer is used and a lower semiconductor region of the embedded oxide film layer is used as a back gate. A voltage for back gates in the logic circuits having a small load in the logic circuit block is controlled in response to activation of the block from outside of the block. Transistors, in which the gate and the back gate are connected to each other, are used for the circuit generating the back gate driving signal, and logic circuits having a heavy load such as circuit block output section, and the back gates are directly controlled according to the gate input signal.
Abstract: In a millimeter waveband transceiver using an antenna and a waveguide for a connection line, it is necessary to perform transmission mode line conversion between TEM waves of a microstrip line and VTE01 mode waves of the waveguide. There is a limit to reducing the conversion loss using only a matching box for connecting the microstrip line with the waveguide. In a transmission mode line transducer for converting between the TEM waves of the microstrip line and the VTE01 mode waves of the waveguide, if the cross-sections are substantially the same size, in the case of a 50? microstrip line when the characteristic impedance of the waveguide is about 80%, i.e., 40?, the line conversion loss can be optimized. Therefore, the microstrip line is connected with the waveguide using a ?/4 matching box via a ridged waveguide having a low impedance and a length of ?/16 or less.

Abstract: A microcomputer capable of on-board programming of dedicated user communication protocols without requiring a serial interface on the mounted board, and that will not destroy the dedicated user communication protocol code even if the system runs out of control. A user boot mat other than a user mat is provided for programming control programs for the user in the on-chip non-volatile memory of the microcomputer. The user boot mat serves as the mat for programming the dedicated user communication protocol and also provides a user boot mode for running the program. The user boot mat cannot program or erase in this user boot mode. By separating the user boot mat and user mat, an interface capable of programming and erasing the user-specified programming can be achieved without having to program a dedicated communication protocol on the user mat.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of matching a data record with a reference record. The method includes receiving a data record; searching stored reference records for a reference record that is an exact match for the received data record; and, if an exact matching reference record is not found, calculating a distance between the received data record and at least one stored reference record, and determining the at least one stored reference record to be an approximate match, if the calculated distance is less than a pre-determined threshold. The inventive method and system can be used for, but not limited to, invoice processing in an Accounts Payable system, record conciliation in a securities trading system, finding preferred bonds in a bond trading system. Approximate matching records are ranked, and the closest match, or highest ranking match, may be automatically processed, if within a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A technique capable of improving speed of a set operation, which controls writing rate in a semiconductor device including a memory cell using a phase-change material. The technique uses means for setting a set-pulse voltage to be applied to the phase-change material to have two steps: the first-step voltage sets a temperature of the phase-change memory to a temperature at which the fastest nucleation is obtained; and the second pulse sets the temperature to a temperature at which the fastest crystal growth is obtained, thereby obtaining solid-phase growth of the phase-change material without melting. Moreover, the technique uses means for controlling the two-step voltage applied to the phase-change memory by a two-step voltage applied to a word line capable of reducing the drain current variation.
