Abstract: In a capacitance type sensor of the present invention, a two-layer structure of a sensor unit is provided by capacitance elements comprising capacitance element electrodes and a displacement electrode arranged opposite to the capacitance element electrodes, and domed switches comprising contact electrodes and switching electrodes spaced apart from the contact electrodes being arranged to overlap with each other with respect to a displacement direction of an operating button.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing an impedance of a power supply path of an integrated circuit is provided. The power supply path includes a first power supply line and a second power supply line to provide power to the integrated circuit. At least one resistive element connected between the first power supply line and the second power supply line is adjusted to reduce the impedance of the power supply path.
Abstract: An offshore oil storage and offtake system is disclosed. The system includes a storage tank attachable to the seabed and adapted to store hydrocarbons. At least one fluid channel is included which has a first end positioned inside of the tank proximal a bottom of the tank and a second end in fluid communication with seawater outside of the tank. The system also includes at least one offload line having a first end coupled to and in fluid communication with the tank proximal a top of the tank and a second end adapted to be fluid coupled to the tanker and accessible from a water surface. The system further includes at least one hawser having a first end operatively coupled to the tank and a second end adapted to be accessible from the water surface and attachable to a tanker to anchor the tanker during tanker offtake operations.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to provide a control apparatus for a cutting machine in which offset values on coordinates relative to the cutting machine are indicated, regardless of the position of the turret, and an operator need not calculate the offset values in the cutting process. This invention is characterized in that an X-axis offset value (&Dgr;X) and a Z-axis offset value (&Dgr;Z) of a cutting edge of the cutting tool when the turret 1 has been turned to an arbitrary angle are converted to values on coordinates relative to the cutting machine, and indicated.
Abstract: An optical disk device has an aperture of an objective lens in an incoming path of a beam from a semiconductor laser to an optical disk formed larger than an aperture in a return path from the optical disk or an aperture is varied in recording and in reproduction. This configuration improves recording/reproducing ability since light is focused on an optical disk with high numerical aperture. In addition, since reflected light from the optical disk is detected with low numerical aperture, margins for tilt and defocus are not reduced. Furthermore, since unnecessary signal components contained in the reflected light can be eliminated, a S/N (signal-to-noise ratio) of an information signal also increases. Thus, a high-performance optical disk device can be obtained. Alternatively, by varying the aperture of an objective lens in recording and in reproduction, an optical disk device in which recording density and recording quality are increased without deteriorating reproduction quality can be obtained.
Abstract: A method is provided for ensuring increased accuracy and stability in analysis of seismic trace data. The present method more accurately determines the location, as well as the saturation level, of possible hydrocarbon reservoirs. The method includes use of more accurate, non-linear equations for the AVO inversion and application of a geologically reasonable set of statistical constraints.

Abstract: For plasma generation, an impedance matching device and a process of controlling and detecting the impedance matching device are provided to satisfy a preset matching condition. The impedance matching device includes a tubular external conductor and an internal conductor disposed therein, a matching device body including a plurality of dielectrics, a moving mechanism, a storing unit for storing a data table, a measuring device, and a calculation control unit. The impedance detecting process includes inputting a progressive wave and a reflected wave outputted by a directional coupler connected to an object to be matched, generating different signals, and mixing the signals to determine relative phase differences and amplitude ratios of the signals, and detecting an input impedance of the object to be matched on a basis of the detected amplitude ratios and that of a true phase difference between the progressive wave and the reflected wave that is detected by referring to a relationship prepared in advance.

Abstract: In a reflective type liquid crystal display unit which is provided with a reflective plate, there is provided a reflective liquid crystal display unit free from color mixture by preventing color mixing of reflected light is presented. The unit includes a substrate, a reflective layer disposed on the substrate, and a color filter, wherein the reflective layer has a plurality of reflective unit regions each of which has a first reflective surface for reflecting a light in a predetermined direction, and an inclination angle of the first reflective surface is defined so that an incident light which passes through a pixel of a determined color of the color filter to enter the first reflective surface is reflected by the first reflective surface to pass through the pixel of the same color as the color through which the incident light of the color filter has passed.
Abstract: Multicast communications are expanded to include the concept of private multicasts. An address space dedicated to multicast is partitioned into a subspace for public multicasts and a subspace for private multicasts. A public key/private key encryption pair is used for private multicasts and installed on domain name servers or on certification authorities. Portions of a multicast join request are sent together with a corresponding encrypted version. Private multicast equipped routers receive the multicast join request, retrieve the public key from a domain name server or from a certification authority and decrypt the encrypted portion of the join request to determine if the requester is authorized. Group specific multicast joins are also permitted by sending a bit-mask identifying a group of senders which are authorized or prohibited from sending to a user joining a multicast.

Abstract: A delay locked loop implementing design-for-test features to test for, among other, stuck-at-faults is provided. The delay locked loop uses multiplexers as design-for-test devices for controllability purposes and flip-flops as design-for-test devices for observability purposes. Such implementation of design-for-test features within a delay locked loop allows for pre-packaging delay locked loop verification and testing.

Abstract: A printing medium is manufactured by forming a primer layer 12 and an adhesive layer 13 successively on the rubbed surface of a base film 11 and wound into a roll 15. When the printing medium is delivered from roll 15, adhesive layer 13 does not remain on the roll 15 side even if adhesive layer 13 has a low adhesive power because the adhesion between adhesive layer 13 and primer layer 12 is strong while the adhesion between adhesive layer 13 and base film 11 in roll 15 is weak. The printing medium can be run in a printer without using a release film because adhesive layer 13 has a low adhesive power.
Abstract: A bias generator adjustment system adjusts a PLL or DLL bias generator dependent on negative bias temperature instability effects in an integrated circuit. The bias generator adjustment system uses an aging independent reference circuit and a bias circuit to operatively adjust a bias generator such that transistor ‘aging’ effects that occur over the lifetime of an integrated circuit are compensated for or corrected.
