  • Patent number: 6334431
Abstract: A system for controlling an ignition timing of an internal combustion engine, in which an ignition timing advancing correction amount is determined based on at least the detected engine coolant temperature, and it is determined whether the engine is under a predetermined cold starting condition. When the result is affirmative, the ignition timing is advanced beyond the MBT. This arrangement is based on the inventors finding that the gas temperature rises at the combustion stroke, but drops little after the expansion stroke. With this, the increased fuel amount for compensating the engine output loss caused by ignition timing advancement can effectively be utilized to heat the engine coolant, thereby facilitating and improving the engine warm-up.

  • Patent number: 6333844
Abstract: A sintered body (10) made of valve action metal powders such as Ta powders, in which an anode lead (11) is embedded in one of wall faces is formed. A dielectric layer (oxide layer) (14) is formed around the metal powders. A manganese dioxide layer (15) is formed around the sintered body in which the dielectric layer is provided on the metal powders. A graphite layer is formed on the manganese dioxide layer. The graphite layer is made by an aqueous graphite layer (16) on the manganese dioxide layer side and a resin graphite layer (17) formed on the aqueous graphite layer. A metal layer (18) is formed on the graphite layer. In such a manner, a capacitor (1) element is formed. Preferably, the graphite layer is burned at a temperature ranging from 230 to 300° C. As a result, an increase in impedance caused by a thermal stress between cathode layers is prevented. Thus, a solid electrolytic capacitor having a small impedance between the anode and the cathode is obtained.

  • Patent number: 6332405
Abstract: A diverter for a suspended conveying apparatus in which conveyable-article carriers provided with running rollers are guided on running rails. A diverter tongue is connected to a running-rail section via an articulated arrangement so as to be pivotable between two diverter positions. The articulated arrangement includes a bridging element that connects the running profile of the running-rail section to the running profile of the diverter tongue and is mounted to be pivoted about an axis on the running-rail section as well as about an axis on the diverter tongue. In a transition region between the running-rail section and the bridging element, in each case one running-roller guide surface of the running-roller section and one running-roller guide surface of the bridging element run one beside the other in the conveying direction to respectively support a running roller of a conveyable-article carrier.

  • Patent number: 6333574
Abstract: A self powered lock is powered by a manually driven generator. The data input to the lock is entered by rotating the dial and stopping and waiting a predetermined amount of time when a desired number is displayed on the lock display. The drive of the power generator, a stepper motor, is through a unidirectional clutch, such that the generator is only driven when the dial is rotated in a selected direction and remains stationary when the dial is rotated in the opposite direction. The data input, including entry of the combination, to the lock is provided by a stepper motor which generates a train of electrical pulses. The electrical pulses are used by the electronic controls of the lock to control the electronic controls including entering the combination. The data input pulses are generated by a stepper motor driven to act as a generator.

  • Patent number: 6332459
Abstract: A system for controlling a temperature of an air-fuel ratio sensor heater of an direct injection spark ignition engine which is operated at an ultra-lean burn combustion or at a pre-mixture charged combustion. In the system, the temperature of the air-fuel ratio sensor is estimated and the supply of current to the heater is determined in terms of a duty ratio in PWM based on the estimated temperature of the air-fuel ratio sensor and is increased when the engine is determined to be operated at the ultra-lean burn combustion. The duty ratio is increased by an augmentative on-time which is determined based on a parameter such as a desired torque, an engine speed and load, or a vehicle speed. The supply of current is also increased when the operation of the EGR is in progress.
