Abstract: In a text-to-speech conversion system, the intonation of a word is controlled by modifying a point pitch pattern of the word. The modification is made in relation to a pitch slope line joining the first point pitch to the last point pitch of the word, these two point pitches being left invariant. Alternatively, the modification is made in relation to a typical speech pitch, which is left invariant. The modification may also be made by classifying the point pitches as high and low, and applying separate shifts to the high and low pitches. These methods avoid the generation of extremely high or low pitches, and avoid the unwanted alteration of the average pitch level.

Abstract: A protective pad includes an outer surface layer, an inner surface layer, and an anti-impact rubber cushion. The exterior surface of the anti-impact rubber cushion is contoured by a plurality of flexible bumpers that protrude and are internally hollow. A perforation is formed in the top of each flexible bumper and a plurality of ventilation channels are disposed underneath in a crisscrossed arrangement. Furthermore, the ventilation channels and the holes in the flexible bumpers are interconnected. A shock-buffering foam sponge is built into the inner surface layer to augment its impact absorbing capability. An elastic foam sponge having a plurality of aeration holes formed in it is integrated into the outer surface layer to increase air circulation and the dissipation of bodily heat to optimize wearing comfort and safety.

Abstract: A jack plug of digital connector includes a jack plug with an optical fiber cable. The device is characterized in that the jack plug is composed of a front plug and a tail plug. A plug hole is disposed at the back part of the front plug. The tail plug has an insertion hole and on the front part of the tail plug possesses two clips at upper and bottom side respectively. The optical fiber cable picks through the insertion hole of the tail plug and then insert the tail plug into the plug hole of the front plug so as to make the two clips of the tail plug hold the optical fiber cable and fixed them at the back end of the front plug.

Abstract: An injection unit of injection machine operates to drive a time-belt pulley associated with a thrust bearing, a bevel ball-bearing, and a bearing nut to make a ball-bearing guiding screw move swiftly to in turn drive a movable plate to perform an injection stroke. The injection pressure transmitted backwards by a plasticized auger is sensed by a load bearer equipped with a pressure sensor something like a strain gauge. After an injection stroke, by means of another time-belt pulley and a shaft coupling, the plasticized auger is restored to its original position and ready for a next cyclic motion. During the cyclic injection process, the load bearer is in charge of sensing the pressure change and reckoning the back pressure in order to obtain the best injection quality.

Abstract: This assembly relates to an emergent unlatching mechanism for the fire door latch which includes a guide tube and a connecting tube so assembled and attached to the interior of the fire door latch without any necessary modification to the existing designed structure of the fire door. With no fire door key available, the fireman can use the ejection of water from the fire hydrant to open the fire door and enter the fire area for fire fighting.

Abstract: A thermal printer using colorful rays and infrared rays for identifying colorant regions of an ink sheet is provided. The ink sheet includes a number of colorant region sets. Each colorant region set includes a yellow region, a magenta region, a cyan region and a black mark arranged at the beginning of the cyan region. The black mark is infrared ray non-transmittable. The thermal printer further includes an infrared ray source/an infrared ray sensor for sensing the black mark, and a blue ray source/a blue ray sensor (or an amber ray source/an amber ray sensor) for sensing the colorant regions.

Abstract: A method for suspending and resuming a computer system without being affected by an abnormal power failure. The relevant operating information and context of the related devices are stored in both a memory and a hard disk before the computer system enters into a sleep state. If a power failure occurs, relevant operating information of the system can still be fetched from the hard disk to restore the computer system to its original operating state even though the information saved in the memory is lost. Also, the computer system can self turn on and activate a “wake on LAN” function and a “ring in wake up” function when power resumes after a sudden power failure before entering into the soft-off state. Therefore, users and system administrator can wake up the computer system from a remote site in a very convenient way.

Abstract: A rotary tape dispenser comprises a container including an inlet, an outlet, and a pin; a circular rotary plate having a portion exposed at the inlet and including a center hole, a plurality of cylinders around the center, a plurality of pairs of adjacent guide posts along the periphery wherein the number of the pairs of adjacent guide posts is equal to that of the cylinders, and a central sleeve put on and rotatable about the pin; a plurality of rolls of adhesive tapes wound on the cylinders, each roll having an open end pulled through the gap between the pair of guide posts; and a blade adjacent the outlet. The exposed portion of the rotary plate is counterclockwise rotatable to turn the rolls until one desired roll has turned to a position at the outlet. In response the roll can be pull and cut by the blade.

Each column of the array includes a logic circuit for masking the bits except those continuous from the MSB toward the LSB which correspond to the bits of a word having the most bits continuous from the MSB toward the LSB and consistent with the bits of the reference word among the stored words. The NAND circuit in a row of the cells storing a word having the most bits continuous from the MSB toward the LSB and consistent with the corresponding bits of a reference word develops a signal representing the longest coincidence data detected.

An upper ring made of a metal is mounted on a top surface of the flange. A lower ring made of a metal is mounted on a bottom surface of the flange. When a user releases a handle, the valve is immediately pivoted downwards to close a water outlet. Thus, a flow-out capacity of water can be controlled by a time of holding a handle, and a lot of water can be saved.

Abstract: The invention provides an ink-jet recording apparatus capable of automatically adjusting the feed of a recording medium without troubling a user. Such an ink-jet recording apparatus is provided with a means for forming at least two adjustment charts for one band by means of at least one nozzle disposed at both end portions of a print head, a nozzle width detecting means for detecting the nozzle width of the print head on the basis of information of two adjustment charts in the same band printed by both end portions, a feed detecting means for detecting an actual feed of the recording medium on the basis of information of adjustment charts printed in adjacent bands by either one end portion out of both end portions, and a compensating means for performing a compensation for a predetermined feed for one band of the recording medium on the basis of the detected nozzle width and the actual feed.

Abstract: A method for performing a MAC address lookup in a network switch of an Ethernet network is provided, using a memory structure including a number of multi-slot buckets. Each of the multi-slot buckets is mapped to a hash key derived from a MAC Address. Each of the multi-slot buckets has a number of forwarding table section, each storing a number of the forwarding table entries. If two forwarding table entries are stored in each forwarding table section of a 4-slot bucket ¼ memory space and ½ access time can be saved. Thus, the lookup for the forwarding table according to the MAC address in the Ethernet switch IC can be effectively performed.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a data transfer system and method for a matrix display. The system includes a multi-level timing controller connected to a multi-level input data driver via a multi-level signal bus. A digital input signal necessary for image display is converted into a multi-level signal display data output by an encoder in the multi-level timing controller, transferred to the multi-level input data driver through the multi-level signal bus, and converted into a data driving signal for a display panel by a decoder. According to the present invention, due to the multiple levels, the number of lines between the controller and the data driver can be considerably decreased and data transfer frequency is reduced.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method wherein an origin is set on the dither pattern and the dither pattern is rotated relative to the origin by a required screen angle. By rotating the dither pattern, real-number coordinates of an origin of adjacent dither patterns are obtained. Coordinates of the origin of the adjacent dither pattern are corrected by rounding fractions of the real-coordinate so that the real-number coordinates are changed to integer coordinates. An angle which a segment connecting an origin of the dither pattern to be based on and that of the adjacent dither pattern obtained after the correction forms with a horizontal line is selected as a screen angle. By this, the shape of the dither pattern obtained after being rotated becomes uniform, preventing the occurrence of moire.

The shell has an axial shaft perpendicular to the axis of the rolling wheel and on an external surface of the shell. The shell is rotatable around the axial shaft such that the shell can be rotated leftward or rightward. The rolling wheel is also rotated with the shell to a specific angle for providing more convenience to user.
