Abstract: A network includes nodes that transmit information to each other. Some nodes operate intermittently; other nodes operate continuously. Information is transmitted to an intermittently operating node by a handshaking protocol in which the intermittently operating node indicates that it is ready to receive. Information is transmitted to a continuously operating node without such handshaking, thereby saving time and power. Each transmitting node has a memory storing information indicating which other nodes require handshaking.

The case has a cavity housing the semiconductor acceleration sensor chip, and a projection portion formed on the bottom face of the cavity, the bottom face of the fixed portion being fixed to the top face of the projection portion.
Abstract: An external solenoid positioned external to a tire, and an internal solenoid provided inside a valve of the tire, which transmits and receives power by an alternating magnetic field in a predetermined high frequency band that generates an induced alternating current in the internal solenoid, is used as a new source of power for a tire pressure/temperature detection device instead of a battery. If the alternating magnetic field in a predetermined high frequency band is well matched to the physical structure and electrical structure of the tire, then, in the space between the tire and a wheel, an induced alternating magnetic field component is distributed that is substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the tire. If the internal solenoid is matched to the direction of maximum magnetic field reception, when the tire rotates, and when the position of the wheel is stopped, substantially stable power may be received.

Abstract: In a watermark processing system, a watermark detector detects first information represented by a watermark from an image, a watermark encoder decodes and error-corrects the first information and re-encodes it to second information, and a watermark eraser identifies the position of the tint-block pattern included in the watermark according to the second information and produces a watermark-erased image from which the watermark is erased.
Abstract: A message sending device sends a message. A message receiving device generates reception authentication information of the message when receiving the message, and further generates reception confirmation information of the message by using the reception authentication information of the message, to send the reception confirmation information of the message to a reception confirmation information verification device. The reception confirmation information verification device verifies the received reception confirmation information. The message sending device obtains a reception confirmation of the message for the message receiving device based on the verification result. This configuration reduces a processing load in each node as much as possible for confirming whether data to large numbers of nodes under a multihop environment have been received in each node.

Abstract: A method for determining the orientation of Chinese words is provided. The amount of dark pixels in each column of a Chinese word image is calculated. Then, a first point, a second point, and a third point are determined. The first point and the second point correspond to the columns with the largest and the second largest amount of dark pixels, respectively. The third point is located between the first point and the second point. The Chinese word is right-side up if the third point is located on the left side of the Chinese word. The Chinese word is upside down if the third point is located on the right side of the Chinese word.
