Abstract: A novel composition to prevent and control dental calculus containing as the essential agent, a magnesium polycarboxylate complex formed by the reaction or interaction of a magnesium compound with a polycarboxylate selected from the group consisting of maleic acid copolymers, sulfoacrylic acid oligomers, and tricarboxy-oxa-butanol or pentanol.

Abstract: An oral composition effective to promote oral hygiene containing as an anticalculus agent phosphonoacetic acid or an orally acceptable salt thereof.

Abstract: A stabilized and extrudable paste or gel dentifrice comprises two dentifrice portions, each of which includes a component which is chemically reactive with the other such component in the other portion, with the portions being maintained separate from each other in a dispensing container from which they are dispensable together through a closable opening therein in response to pressure. One of the reactive compounds may be an alkali metal fluorine-containing salt such as sodium fluoride or sodium monofluorophosphate, used for its effect in hardening tooth enamel, and the other may be a water insoluble calcium salt, such as dicalcium phosphate, tricalcium phosphate or calcium carbonate, used as a polishing agent. To improve storage stability of the dentifrice such dentifrice portions are separated by an extrudable material, such as a polyhydric alcohol-water gel of a gum, e.g., sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. Also within the invention are various methods for the manufacture of the mentioned dentifrices.

Abstract: Quaternary ammonium alkylene diphosphonates useful as stain-inhibiting, anti-calculus agents, compatible with cationic antimicrobials; the process of preparing said quaternary ammonium diphosphonates; and compositions containing an effective anti-calculus amount of said quaternary diphosphonate admixed with a dental or oral carrier. These compounds are particularly effective in inhibiting tooth staining caused by cationic antimicrobials.

Abstract: Dentifrice possessing superior cleaning and polishing characteristics containing as the essential ingredients at least one hard abrasive in an amount to provide a radioactive enamel abrasion to the dentifrice of above about 400, such as calcined alumina, zirconium silicate, and the like, and a non-toxic zinc compound in an amount to provide at least about 0.0065% by weight of zinc to the dentifrice.

Abstract: There is disclosed an anhydrous heat releasing, two toned flavored dentifrice which contains the abrasive system consisting essentially of an anhydrous synthetic zeolite and an anhydrous dentally acceptable, substantially water-insoluble polishing agent, and a flavoring agent as the essential ingredients.

Abstract: Flutter and weave instability of a motorcycle front fork assembly is substantially reduced by achieving an overall lateral stiffness of the fork assembly mounts of at least 1000 lbs./in. This is done by providing an assembly including a pair of fork legs, each having a minimum flexural rigidity of 10.8.times.10.sup.6 lbs.-in.sup.2 ; a pair of rotational bearings attached to the base of each leg, each bearing carrying a suspension link having a minimum flexural rigidity of 3.8.times.10.sup.6 lbs.-in.sup.2 ; a wheel spindle having a minimum rigidity of 1.9.times.10.sup.6 lbs.-in.sup.2 ; and resilient suspension means. The fork legs are substantially parallel to each other and extend downwardly from a steering head. The rotational bearings have negligible radial clearance. The suspension links extend forwardly from the rotational bearings and are mounted to the associated leg of each. The wheel spindle is rigidly clamped and extends between the free ends of the suspension links.

Abstract: An aqueous solution useful for remineralizing subsurface carious lesions of dental enamel which solution contains sources of calcium ions and phosphate ions as well as fluoride ions and further includes as an agent to stabilize the solution against precipitation, an antinucleating agent such as ethylenediamine tetramethylenephosphonic acid or water soluble salt thereof, the pH of the solution being about 5-9, preferably close to physiological conditions, such as about 6.8-7.5.

Abstract: Liquid scouring compositions possessing enhanced cleaning properties and reduced abrasion characteristics containing as the essential cleaning agent the abrasive calcium metasilicate, stably suspended in an aqueous vehicle.

Typical compounds are:[C.sub.12 H.sub.25 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 (CH.sub.2).sub.4 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 CH.sub.2 C.sub.6 H.sub.5 ]Br;[C.sub.14 H.sub.29 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 (CH.sub.2).sub.10 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 CH.sub.2 C.sub.6 H.sub.4 Cl]Br.sub.2 and[C.sub.12 H.sub.25 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 (CH.sub.2).sub.4 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 (CH.sub.2).sub.2 N.sup.+ (Me).sub.2 CH.sub.2 C.sub.6 H.sub.5 ]Br.sub.3These compounds are effective as antimicrobial agents and as anticaries agents.

Abstract: A dental prophylactic paste comprising an abrasive, a humectant, gelatin alone or in combination with silica gel or a water soluble silicate and optional flavoring and preservative ingredients having a viscosity in the range of 1200-150,000 centipoises at about 30.degree.-40.degree. C. which possesses improved flowability by which the paste can be poured through a nozzle under low pressure into individual containers as well as improved non-spatterability and cleaning efficiency in use by the dentist.

Abstract: A high viscosity, low spatter dental prophylactic paste including an abrasive, a humectant, a soluble alkaline silicate and an acid-forming agent, the ratio of the acid-forming agent to silicate being such as to delay the gelling time of the paste so that it is sufficiently flowable to be poured into individual containers via nozzles under low pressure before gelling.

Abstract: Toothpaste containing sodium bicarbonate as the principal abrasive and a lesser amount of another compatible abrasive. Examples of these are chalk, silica, alumina, zirconium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate, or a mixture thereof, said other abrasive constituting at least about 3% of the toothpaste.

Abstract: There is disclosed a stable anhydrous self-heating dentifrice which contains an anhydrous synthetic zeolite as the sole or major abrasive, a hydroxypropyl cellulose gelling agent and a propylene glycol humectant as the essential ingredients.

Abstract: The process of preparing analytically pure fluorapatite comprising reacting dicalcium phosphate dihydrate with hydrogen fluoride in aqueous solution, at a pH of from about 5 to about 8, at from about room temperature for about 7 days to about 100.degree. C. for about 2 days, the amount of fluoride ion being from about stoichiometric to about 1.1 times the stoichiometric amount of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate whereby solid analytically pure fluorapatite is formed.

Abstract: Dental cream suitable for use in an unlined aluminum container comprising between about 35% and 60% of abrasive containing alumina as the major abrasive component and as agents to render the dental cream compatible with an unlined aluminum container, calcium carbonate present as minor abrasive component in amount of at least about 1% of the dental cream and a dissolved or dispersed silicate present in amount of about 0.05%-0.25%. The composition also desirably contains a water-soluble monofluorophosphate salt in amount which provides 0.01-1% fluoride in the dental cream and when the dental cream contains the monofluorophosphate salt and more than about 5% calcium carbonate, an alkali metal tripolyphosphate in an amount up to about 1.5% is also present.
