    Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of a sulphonic acid chloride of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and denote hydrogen, a lower alkyl radical or a cycloalkyl radical, halogen, aryl, aralkyl, aryl ether or a radical --SO.sub.2 Cl, --SO.sub.2 aryl, ##STR2## or wherein adjacent radicals R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are linked to form a cycloaliphatic, aromatic or hetero-aromatic ring which is optionally substituted by a sulphonic acid chloride group by contacting an aromatic compound of the formula ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 of the above-mentioned meaning, with chlorosulphonic acid and thionyl chloride, the improvement residing in employing initially approximately stoichiometric amounts of aromatic compound and chlorosulphonic acid, effecting reaction of the aromatic compound and chlorosulphonic acid and thereafter contacting the reaction product with excess thionyl chloride.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of 4-fluoro-3-phenoxytoluene of the formula ##STR1## comprising reacting 3-bromo-4-fluoro-toluene of the formula ##STR2## with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal phenolate in the presence of copper as catalyst and in the presence if isoquinoline as diluent at a temperature between about 100.degree. and 200.degree. C. Advantageously the reaction is effected in the presence of about 0.9 to 1.5 mols of potassium or magnesium carbonate, about 1 to 1.2 mols of the phenolate, about 1 to 50 g of copper, copper(I) oxide, copper(I) chloride or copper (I) bromide as catalyst and about 150 to 1,500 ml of isoquinoline per mol of 3-bromo-4-fluoro-toluene.

    Abstract: A composite wall structure is disclosed and includes a plurality of vertically stacked building blocks forming a wall structure without mortar or other binder between contiguous blocks. Distinct, continuous layers of rigid urethane polymer foam cover both exterior sides of the wall, these foam layers being adhesively secured to the sides of the wall and extending into the surface pores of the blocks and into the vertical and horizontal seams formed by the blocks. The resultant composite wall structure can be characterized as being hermetically sealed, monolithic, insulated and having improved lateral strength imparted thereto by the exterior foam layers.

C., and then adding water to the reaction mixture, thereby to form trimethylpyruvic acid N-acylamide of the formula(CH.sub.3).sub.3 C--CO--CO--NH--CO--R.

Also present in the layer is a small amount of a more reactive coupler which produces a colored image to which black and white paper is not sensitive. This more reactive coupler reduces the fog in the highlight areas.Most preferably small amounts of other couplers are present which result in a green or brown image which makes it easier for the operator to focus the image.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for the segregation of worn-out cleaning bodies consisting of resiliently deformable material such as rubber or plastic from the coolant circuit of a heat exchanger for the purpose of segregating and removing those cleaning bodies which on account of wear no longer have sufficient dimensions to clean the tubes of the heat exchanger. Cleaning bodies found still good are--together, if desired, with the new cleaning bodies replacing the rejected cleaning bodies--delivered back through the injecting device to the coolant circuit such that any air which has penetrated during the sorting or is contained in new cleaning bodies is virtually completely removed from the sponge-like cleaning bodies, and the cleaning bodies are imbibed with coolant fluid in order to assure a uniform distribution of the cleaning bodies in the coolant fluid and to prevent any floating up or sinking of the cleaning bodies and hence to prevent improper cleaning of the heat exchanger tubes.
