  • Patent number: 4245998
Abstract: To remove salts from a solution containing the salts, hot air is injected downwards into the solution in a concentrator, and the solution is concentrated by direct contact with the hot air, thereby enhancing an evaporation efficiency in the concentrator and preventing scale deposition in the concentrator and piping system. The solution is forcedly cooled in a crystallizer by direct contact with cool air, thereby making crystals grow in the solution within a short time. The solution and air are circulated in a closed cycle, thereby preventing a secondary environmental pollution.

  • Patent number: 4233275
Abstract: A high temperature, high pressure raw coal gas containing hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and tarry matter, is purified by contacting the raw coal gas with solid particles thereby cooling the raw coal gas to a temperature suitable for hydrogen sulfide removal and at the same time depositing the tarry matter onto the solid particles by condensation to recover the tarry matter from the raw coal gas, removing the hydrogen sulfide from the cooled and substantially tar-free coal gas, expanding the raw coal gas to a pressure suitable for ammonia decomposition, heating the expanded raw coal gas to a temperature suitable for ammonia decomposition by heat obtained by combusting the recovered tarry matter on the solid particles, thereby regenerating the solid particles for reuse, and then decomposing ammonia in the raw coal gas, thereby removing ammonia therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4221529
Abstract: Individual shelves are provided on the load transport vehicle, which may be a trailor or self-propelled steerable vehicle, so that the shelves may be dropped down adjacent to the roadway for loading and unloading, and lifted up above the clearance height of the vehicle for storage and transport. Guides and bearings are provided between the shelf and body of the vehicle so that the horizontal portion of the shelves will be parallel to the roadway in their lower loading and unloading position to facilitate such loading and unloading, and they will tilt during their travel between such positions so that in the storage position the generally horizontal portion of the shelf will extend downwardly and inwardly to maintain the load on the vehicle with the help of gravity. The frame of the vehicle is provided with a central vertical and longitudinal rib carrying the guides for supporting shelves on each side. The shelves are L-shaped, and are provided with hydraulic cylinders for individually raising and lowering.

  • Patent number: 4220518
Abstract: In a reactor for cracking heavy hydrocarbon oil through a fluidized bed of particles of natural ores, coke-like materials are deposited on a top of the reactor or pipe inside surfaces of a transfer line from the reactor to a scrubber. To effectively scour out the deposited coke-like materials, particles of natural ores having a mean diameter of a few hundred .mu.m is made to be contained in an effluent gas from the top of reactor, passing through the transfer line at a concentration of 1 to 40 g/m.sup.3. The particles of natural ores have a good effect of scouring out the deposited coke-like materials and can keep the transfer line efficiently clean even with a small amount of the particles of natural ores, decreasing a pressure drop in the transfer line.

  • Patent number: 4214864
Abstract: Rigid synthetic foam is expanded, molded and cured in an endless mold formed by opposed spaced horizontal belt conveyors with side dams. To obtain a smooth finish on the products, a top cover belt and a bottom cover belt are employed to span the rigid slats of the conveyors, respectively. The top cover belt is stretched tightly and smoothly when the endless conveyors approach each other at the entrance to the pressure mold, by means of a downwardly depending continuous wedge shaped member along each side margin of the cover belt that cooperates with an upwardly opening correspondingly wedge shaped recess in the side dam. To obtain different thickness products, spacer blocks may be employed between the side dam and the lower conveyor.
