  • Patent number: 5113897
Abstract: A medical supply unit with a height-adjustable connection head, e.g., in the form of a ceiling-mounted supply unit or ceiling lamp, is able to receive a working device, e.g., an anesthesiological apparatus, while ensuring reliable coupling for this purpose, so that the user will be able to perform a procedure reliably, with the working device being correctly connected. This is made possible by a coupling part 34 equipped with guide faces 35, with which a receiving part 14 engages, which is provided with complementarily extending receiving jaws 15 and which actuates--in the case of correctly fitting engagement--electrical contacts 18, such that the control elements 10 provided on a control panel 9 for height adjustment of the connection head 1 and/or for supplying the working device 30 with the media needed for operation are released.

  • Patent number: 5112160
Abstract: This invention relates to a rock anchor which includes an elongated element which is composed of a plurality of elongated tension members which are arranged around the long axis of the elongated element in a circumferential spaced relationship to provide a passage through the elongated element, slots between the tension members which extend over the length of the elongated element, an anchor at one end of the elongated element, for holding the element in a hole and a tensioning arrangement at the other end of the element for use in tensioning the elongated element in the hole. The anchor is preferably a wedge anchor and the invention extends to a method of anchoring the rock anchor in a hole by means of a rod which is passed up into the elongated element from the mouth of the hole to tension the elongated element and activate the wedge anchor to lock the anchor against the side of the hole to hold the elongated element in the hole under tension.

  • Patent number: 5110286
Abstract: A device for preheating fuel for an ultrasonic atomizer (11) is shown, in which the fuel for an engine-independent heater operated with liquid fuel is atomized. The heating element (20), which preferably consists of a PTC element, is arranged in physical proximity to the ultrasonic atomizer (11) and outside the fuel feed line (17) so that it is switched off as soon as a sufficient amount of heat is generated by the combustion chamber (3), so that the fuel is adequately atomized on the atomizer plate. Reliable possibility of start at low temperatures (down to cA. -40.degree. C.) is thus achieved at low power consumption in the start-up range.

  • Patent number: 5109748
Abstract: To reduce the concentration of the gases generated during firing in a combat space behind a gun barrel, a smoke exhaust device (8) is arranged in a middle zone of the gun barrel (7). This smoke ehaust device (8) is joined to the gun barrel (7) in a gas-tight manner in the outward direction and is connected, in the inward direction, to the caliber bore (5) of the gun barrel (7) via an obliquely extending blow-off bore (3) and via Y-shaped valve bores (2). Pressure is admitted into the valve bores (2) through a check valve (6) made in the form of an assembly of layered leaf springs. Good filling of the smoke exhaust device with gases generated during firing is thus possible along with very rapid closing of the check valve, which is decisive for the desired long blow-off time of the gases through the blow-off bore (3).
