  • Patent number: 5107779
Abstract: To recognize missed stitches during the operation of a sewing machine, a function, which represents the tensile force of a thread fed into a stitch-forming device depending on the angle of rotation of the main shaft, is scanned in its entirety during each revolution period of the main shaft for selected characteristics without regard to the location of this characteristic within the revolution period. The characteristics found are measured in order to obtain for each characteristic an analytical value that is compared with the corresponding analytical value from at least the last preceding revolution period to form the difference of the two analytical values. If this difference exceeds a predeterminable value, a decision corresponding to a missed stitch is made.

  • Patent number: 5107605
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a technique which comprises the steps of stopping the rotation of a treating durm in a deodorizing step, introducing the outside air into a treating tank through an upper opening provided in the upper portion of the treating tank or the upper portion of a recovery air duct, simultaneously exhausting a solvent gas from the treating tank through a lower opening provided in the lower portion of the treating tank or a button trap portion so slowly as not to agitate the solvent gas in the treating tank by an exhaust means connected to a solvent recovery device in the condition that the treating drum is stopped, in order to replace the solvent gas in the treating tank with the outside air, and reusing the solvent gas through the solvent recovery device once or several times. In addition, the present invention is further directed to an improvement of the above-mentioned technique.

  • Patent number: 5107780
Abstract: A device for sewing together two fabric parts includes two pattern sensors and correcting means for determining and correcting misalignment of patterns on the fabric parts. Also, an additional image sensor (18) is provided, which scans the surface of the fabric (16) to be sewn at the site of an intermediate storage location (15) before this fabric is fed into the sewing machine. An image-processing device connected to this additional image sensor generates data on certain basic characteristics of the fabric pattern, such as color, contrast, lightness, register length, and angular orientation of the pattern components. From these characteristic data, a decision logic circuit determines setting data for the operating parameters of the devices used in the sewing machine for detecting and correcting a possible pattern misalignment during sewing.

  • Patent number: 5105554
Abstract: An instrument for measuring the dimensions of a rigid object (10) comprises a fixed member (1), a mobile member (2) slidably mounted on the fixed member, means for indicating the resulting measurement, and a locking device (3) allowing the mobile member (2) to be moved on the fixed member (1) to hold two bearing points (X, X') on the members in contact with the object (10) being measured with a substantially constant bearing force. The locking device comprises a first sleeve (20) slidably mounted on the mobile member (2) under the action of springs (24), and a second sleeve (30) slidably mounted on the fixed member (1) and inside which is a tipping ring (36) connected by a rod (40) to the first sleeve. The second sleeve (30), by acting on the first sleeve (20), enables loading the springs (24) to produce the bearing force when the instrument is in contact with the object (10) being measured.

  • Patent number: 5105751
Abstract: The invention describes a process for carrying out a sewing operation with a sewing machine having a needle feed.In present sewing operations with a sewing machine having needle feed, defective stitches are often formed at the beginning, because the initial threads are not sufficiently clamped in the needle plate as a consequence of the elongated stitch hole. In the new process, the position of the needle prior to the beginning of sewing is displaced into an end zone of the stitch hole for performing a preselected number of initial stitches.

  • Patent number: 5104136
Abstract: A steering tie rod or similar strut for motor vehicles with a securing member (4) acting in the longitudinal direction of the steering tie rod is described, which securing member comes into action when a defined, axially acting load value is exceeded. In another variant of the present invention, the length of the steering tie rod may undergo a limited change after the securing member has been overcome, so that limited fitness for use of the vehicle is maintained.

  • Patent number: 5104523
Abstract: A glass-plate sorting system for sorting glass plates being cut into products having a plurality of quality grades to simultaneously obtain products of desired quality grades. A discriminating-type flaw detector (101) detects the sizes and locations of flaws existing in a glass strip travelling on a line conveyor and transmits flaw data to a control unit (102). The control unit discriminates quality grades of the cut glass plates based on the flaw data. Sorters (110) having lifters (112) and suction conveyors (111) sort products of desired quality grades based on the control by the control unit (102).

  • Patent number: 5103749
Abstract: Patterns of two fabric layers are each recognized by a camera and the fabric layers are aligned to make these patterns agree in the transverse and longitudinal directions. According to the invention the influence of speed-related disturbance variables and pattern-related limitations during the generation of the signal is reduced. Two-dimensional images of the two fabric layers are recorded with a matrix camera each during a pause between feeds. The degree of congurence of the fabric layers according to the pattern is determined by two-dimensional cross-correlation analysis of the image points arranged in rows and columns. Aligning correction values are calculated from this degree. The edge distance of the fabric layers is determined with a section of the matrix sensors, which is a separate section in terms of evaluation. Based on the edge distance data, the lower fabric layer is adjusted to the correct distance continuously and the upper fabric layer is adjusted as needed.

  • Patent number: 5102310
Abstract: The periodic axial movement of the rotary piston (6) is performed by a cam mechanism which has a cam surface (8) rotating around the piston axis and a cam follower (9) that is in functional connection with the cam holder. The relative position of the cam holder determines the piston stroke in the course of one revolution. In this arrangement, the drive shaft (5) can extend coaxially with the piston (6). In a particularly advantageous manner, the follower is pressed against the cam holder under spring pre-tension.

  • Patent number: 5100601
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process and devices for producing beam-shaped moldings from fine plant parts mixed with binders in molding presses. Based on the discovery that the degree of compaction of the core of such moldings decreases with increasing cross section of the moldings, it is suggested in the present invention that the core zone of the molding be formed by an additional amount of fine parts moved there and compacted deliberately, which amount of material acts reactively as a compression zone to the moveable walls surrounding it during the compaction of the molding. Compaction of the molding over its entire cross section and at the same time particularly great compaction of the peripheral zones of the molding are thus achieved. The strength and the bending resistance of such moldings are particularly high, and such moldings are therefore also suitable for forming railroad ties.
