Abstract: In a power chuck 1, particularly for turning machines, the drive member 11 which act through oblique surface 10-12 on the radially displaceable jaws 4 are each firmly connected to a setting piston 17 which is movable in the axial direction A, of the chuck. To effect a balanced chucking, the setting pistons are exposed to operating pressure fluid on one or both sides and can be displaced independently of each other. To displace all the drive members 11 conjointly, an actuating member 21 is provided acting on drive members 11 or the setting pistons 17 at least in one jaw-setting direction, or being positively connectable thereto. This makes it possible to chuck a workpiece centrically or eccentrically and no particular means for switching from one mode to the other are needed.
Abstract: A clamping device comprises a holder in which an actuation arm is movable in a longitudinal directions. A fixed clamping jaw is carried by the holder and a movable clamping jaw is arranged within the holder opposite to the fixed clamping jaw and it is supported by at least two longitudinally spaced lever members which have a first pivotal connection to the holder, a second pivotal connection to the movable clamping jaw and a third pivotal connection to the actuator arm. An actuator is connected to the arm to move it backwardly and forwardly for opening and closing the jaws. The pivotal connecting points of the levers are chosen so that the pivotal points are disposed at substantially right angles to each other. The pivot pins are cylindrical hinge pins and the line between the pivotal connection of the lever to the jaw and to the fixed holder makes an angle of 45.degree. to the horizontal so that a larger distance between the points of support is possible.
Abstract: A liquid sealed shaft seal for a rotatable shaft comprises a housing disposed around the shaft and defining a seal chamber which can be supplied with sealing liquid. A seal disc is fixed to the shaft and extends into the chamber. An axially movable piston is mounted on the housing for axial movement toward and away from a side face of the seal disc. The piston is provided with a slide ring which engages the slide disc when the shaft is at a standstill and which, through a circumferentially induced increase in pressure for the sealing liquid in the chamber, is moved axially away from the disc when the shaft and disc rotate. A resilient bellows is connected between the piston and the housing for biasing the piston toward the disc.
Abstract: A supporting frame of a conveyor, over the top side of which the upper section of an endless conveyor belt is trained, comprises two identical symmetrically arranged angle sections. The upper legs of the angle sections are firmly connected to each other by an intermediate plate of any width. The lateral legs of the angular sections support at each end of the frame a pair of journal pins on which end sleeves are mounted for rotation. The two identical end sleeves are fimly connected to each other through a roller sleeve having a length corresponding to the spacing of the sleeves. By choosing the connecting members which are simple to adapt, namely the intermediate plate and the roller tubes, series manufactured stock elements, namely the longitudinal members of the frame and the end sleeves of the guide rollers, can be used for conveyors of various widths.

The double arm lever includes a first arm portion providing a jaw oriented radially inwardly and an opposite arm portion having a camming surface. A control member is located in the sleeve adjacent the camming surface of each lever and it is mounted so as to be threadably movable axially to run along the camming surface and pivot the lever.
Abstract: The voltage lost through the formation of magnetic fields and leakage and stray currents on the cover of a distributor and on the insulation of the high-voltage current conducting cables from a high-voltage coil to a distributor and from a distributor to a plurality of spark plugs of an ignition system of an internal combustion engine is at least partially regenerated by a voltage regenerator comprising inductive current trapping means for recovering the current lost through the insulation of said high-voltage current conducting cables, said current trapping means being coupled to said cables at a short distance from the current receiving ends thereof; encapsulated current collector means for receiving the current recovered by said current trapping means; at least some of said current trapping means including unidirectional current flow means permitting only the flow of current toward said collector means; current attracting means inductively coupled to said collector means; and inductive current delivery mea
Abstract: A control system for an ammunition having a longitudinal axis and adapted to move in a flight direction, particularly a wingless ammunition falling in ballistic flight, comprises a body having a rear curved surface with a gas generator in the body for producing gas under pressure. A nozzle is mounted to the body and oriented to direct a gas jet produced from the pressurized gas rearwardly and tangentially over the curved surface with respect to the flight direction of the ammunition. The gas jet produces reduced pressure on its side of the ammunition to alter the flight thereof.
Abstract: A burner for air heaters comprises a first wall structure defining an ignition chamber with an ultrasonic atomizer discharging into the ignition chamber and with means for delivering primary air into the ignition chamber for ignition by suitable ignition device to form an igniting gas mixture. The construction includes a second wall arrangement which is adjacent the ignition chamber and which defines a primary combustion chamber which has a passage for the ignited gas mixture from the ignition chamber and also for secondary air so as to complete the combustion in the main combustion chamber. The main combustion chamber in turn is connected downstream and into an exhaust diffuser in which the completely burnt gases are delivered to a place of use for heating an area such as a space in a motor vehicle.

Abstract: A controller for cutting sheet material so that inferior or incomplete sheet material is eliminated is characterized by the provision of means for detecting a length of sheet passing through a rotary cutter which continuously cuts the sheet material, means for calculating a length of sheet moving until the sheet is cut after a shear is started, and means for controlling the start timing of the shear so that a cut portion of sheet cut first by the shear coincides with a cut portion of sheet cut by the rotary cutter.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an adhesive composition for manufacturing glued laminated beams and wood constructions. One component of the adhesive composition is resorcinol-phenol resin. Resorcinol-phenol adhesives are as such known in the prior art. The main ingredients of these adhesives are resorcinol, formaldehyde and phenol. Among the drawbacks in the use and production of resorcinol-phenol adhesives are their high price and the fact that the raw materials are difficult to obtain. The purpose for employing the adhesive composition of the invention is to eliminate some of the difficulties connected with the availability of the raw materials, particularly resorcinol, and to help produce a new, more economical resorcinol-phenol based adhesive composition.
Abstract: Packing method and apparatus for packing consumer packages directly onto a pallet. First the packages are arranged to form a load layer on a support plate, which plate and load layer is supported at its sides by a guide plate. Then the support plate is removed so that the load layer is immediately slid onto the empty pallet located below the support plate or on top of a previous layer located on the pallet. Now the pallet together with its load layer, is lowered the height of one load layer so that the load layers are supported on all sides by the guide frame and as new packages emerge from below the guide frame they are simultaneously wrapped in the final wrapping material. The method can be modified so that after the load layer supported by the guide frame is formed on the support plate, the plate is lowered and removed so that the load layer is slid onto the pallet located at standard height below the support plate or on top of the previous load layer located on the pallet.
Abstract: A method of making and composition for a fine particle dispersion of incompatible polymers in a polymer matrix comprises forming a solution of the incompatible polymers in a solvent which is common to both polymers and rapidly evaporating the solvent. The remaining material is in the form of the polymer matrix.
Abstract: An optical coupling element is provided between a semiconductor transmitter, a semiconductor receiver and a lightwave guide. The optical coupling is effected through microoptics which are adjustable in a simple way. Such a coupling element is useful particularly as a subscriber's connection in an optical waveguide duplex or multiplex communication system and uses a reflective planar surface with a reflection which is responsive to the wavelength to pass light to the transmitted and reflected light to be received.
